Suspended Book Fold card

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 21 – Fresh Freesia

Today I have a fun fancy fold design called a Suspended Book Fold card. It looks complicated, but in fact it is fairly easy to create. I am focusing on the Hues of Happiness DSP, with it’s gorgeous purples and floral images.

Fresh Freesia Gorgeous Grape Basic White

and here is my card – look at those layers?!!

Suspended Book Fold card for Fresh Freesia Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

There are two hinges attached to the 5″ x 7″ card base and the top book fold panels, giving it the ‘suspended’ name.

Suspended Book Fold card for Fresh Freesia Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022 top side

The top card layer has a strip of Window Sheet which curves to the front and the focal panel is attached to this. I took a scrap piece of white card, approximately 2½” x 2″ and covered it with the die cut (Happiness Abounds dies) images from the Hues of Happiness papers. A simple sentiment from the Sending Smiles stamp set was stamped in Fresh Freesia ink onto basic white card and glued to the flowers. I added some Brushed Brass Butterflies to finish!

This card does fold flat, but because it is 5″ x 7″, you will need a larger envelope. You may be wondering where to place your written message, well the back of the card has a large space for that!

Basic Measurements:
5” x 7” card base (mark at 3½” top & bottom and draw light pencil line)

Hinges x 2 – 2” x 6”, score at 1½”, 3”, 4½”
6 x card/DSP to decorate hinges, 1¼” x 1¾”
2 panels (back) – Matt layers 1¾” x 4¾” & DSP 1½” x 4½”
1 panel (back) – Matt layers 2 ¾” x 4¾” & DSP 2½” x 4 ½”
2 panels (front) – Matt layers 2¼” x 4¾” & DSP 2” x 4½”
Acetate – 8’ x 1”, score at 1½” from each end

I give thanks and credit to Iced Images on YouTube for the instructions.

Dancing Gnomes

2022 Heart of Christmas LogoEach Monday, join me for the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart team. We will be showcasing our July-December Mini catalogue and Annual catalogue Christmas products.

My Slimline card today has a fun trio of dancing Gnomes!

I layered some Mint Macaron card on the Thick White card base, then a layer of the snowflake design from the Storybook Gnomes DSP.

Dancing Gnomes Slimline card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

The mechanism for the feet to swing, is simply a piece of 2cm x 3cm white card with a hole in the centre. See the nose of the Gnome, well that same die was used to cut the hole (keep these die cut pieces to use for the nose by colouring with the Dark Petal Pink Blends Marker). Glue the mechanism to the back of the feet. Place the feet onto the card and hold the gnome above to work out where you need the feet to be. Add a Mini Dimensional in the centre. Remove the backing paper.

Dancing Gnome mechanism by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022    Dancing Gnome by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

Put together the rest of the Gnomes. Flip them over and add 4 x Mini Dimensionals to the back of the Gnome’s hat (as shown), allowing plenty of room for the mechanism to swing behind the beard. Remove the paper backings and add the Gnome over the mechanism and feet. Ta-da, dancing Gnomes!!! I added some arms to each Gnome later, as I felt they were missing. To create those I used the small mushroom die for the sleeves with the nose for the hands.

Decorate the inside to match the front.

Measurements
Card base: 21cm x 20cm, score short edge @ 10cm
Mint Macaron: 20.5cm x 9.5cm (2)
DSP: 20cm x 9cm (front) & 20cm x 2cm (inside)
White card: 20cm x 9cm (inside)
Extras for Gnomes: Basic White (beard, hand & mechanism), Real Red & Shaded Spruce (feet/arms), DSP (hats)

This card was inspired by a USA demonstrator, Susan Campfield (link below). I loved her card, although I wanted to create a slimline card to fit a trio of dancing Gnomes and I added arms!!!

Brilliant Wings in Watercolour

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 20 – Flirty Flamingo

Today I really wanted a dramatic look, so I started with a Basic Black card base. I took an acrylic block, and added some White Craft ink refill. Using the Water Painter brush I squeezed some water onto the ink and flicked it onto the card base.

I took a piece of the Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper and applied inks using Flirty Flamingo and Melon Mambo. Once I had a lovely mix of colour, I used the Water Painter again with just Melon Mambo ink and flicked it over the watercolouring. Place this aside to dry.

The Brilliant Wings dies were used to cut out the butterflies, which were adhered to the card using Multipurpose Glue just along the body so the wings could sit up.

The sentiment from the Sending Smiles stamp set is stamped in Versamark ink onto black card. I added Silver Emboss Powder and heat set it. Cut it out with the coordinating Sending dies. I tied a piece of the Silver Simply Elegant Trim in a big bow and placed it on the centre of the largest butterfly, then added the sentiment over the top on Black Mini Dimensionals.

To finish off, I coloured some Rhinestone Basic Jewels with the Dark Flirty Flamingo Blends Marker. Some Black and White Pearlized Enamel Effects were also added in groups of three for extra interest.

On the inside a Flirty Flamingo layer with a Basic White layer were added with another water coloured butterfly.

Trimming the Tree cards

2022 Heart of Christmas LogoEach Monday, join me for the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart team. We will be showcasing our July-December Mini catalogue and Annual catalogue Christmas products.

Some things are great on their own but become epic when they are paired with coordinating dies! Tonight I have two cards using the Trimming the Tree Bundle (save 10%). The Trimming the Tree stamp set is already in the catalogue, but the Tree Trimming dies are exclusive to the Perfect Partners promotion and are only available while supplies last during September (they will not be available in future catalogues).

Card 1 – I have added a layer of Gingham Cottage DSP to a Thick Basic White card base. I placed the tree stamp onto the Stamparatus plate and inked it up with Mint Macaron. I also took a sponge dauber and some Garden Green ink and daubed some around the edges before stamping onto Basic White card. Using the coordinating dies, cut out the tree and some of the little bows from 2022-24 In Color Glimmer paper.

The base is die cut from Kraft card. The Fabulous Frames dies were used to cut the 4 corner pieces from Gold Foil. The vellum was run through my Cut & Emboss machine in the Whimsical Woodland 3D Embossing Folder. Doesn’t it look amazing?!

Glue the Gold Foil pieces to the vellum layer and add the tree on dimensionals. Place glue on the back of the vellum behind all the pieces added so it doesn’t show through once dry. Adhere this to the card. I finished off with a Gold & Vanilla Satin edged ribbon bow adhered with a glue dot.

Card 2 – The card base is Evening Evergreen. The patterned paper in the background is from the Lights Aglow Specialty DSP with a piece of Gold Shimmer Ribbon across the join. Adhere this to the card base.

The tree is die cut from a piece of the Gingham Cottage DSP with a Distressed Gold Specialty paper star and basket. The bows are die cut from the 2022-24 In Color Glimmer paper. The sentiment is stamped onto Basic White card in Mint Macaron ink and die cut. The tree and sentiment are added on dimensionals.

Pretty Birds say hello

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 19 – Evening Evergreen

Today I am using a bundle that is new to me, the Pretty Birds Bundle which includes the Pretty Birds Stamp Set and the Birdhouse Dies. I just love the bird cage die and I had to use it with Gold Foil Sheets.

When I was a kid, I had two budgies, Sky and Matilda. They loved it when I would take the cage outside and hang in the trees to be with nature. They would chirp away happily. So, that was the inspiration for this card, with the Happy Forest Friends Designer Series Paper in the background. I found it a little too much and the cage got lost, so I added a layer of vellum over the DSP to tone it down.

Pretty Birds for Evening Evergreen CCBH by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

I took a piece of the Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper and using the Water Painters, added some Evening Evergreen and Parakeet Party ink. Once it was dry, I stamped the budgie a couple of times with Memento Black ink. Because the colour wasn’t bold enough once dry, I used my Daffodil Delight, Parakeet Party and Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blends Markers to strengthen the colour. Once I die cut the birds, I also die cut the perch in Evening Evergreen card and added them to the vellum. The cage is popped up on mini dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped and added on min dimensionals also. The leaves are die cut from the leftover water-coloured paper and Evening Evergreen card. These were added with Multipurpose glue. Once everything was adhered to the vellum, I flipped it over and added glue behind all the die cut pieces so it doesn’t show through.

On the inside I stamped the smaller birdhouse and attached a water-coloured bow and another budgie.

Christmas Season Holiday card

2022 Heart of Christmas LogoEach Monday, join me for the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart team. We will be showcasing our July-December Mini catalogue and Annual catalogue Christmas products.

The products used for this card, Christmas Season stamp set and the Seasonal Labels dies carried over from last year’s July-December mini catalogue into the 2022-2023 Annual catalogue. I’m so happy they did, as they were one of my favourites last year.

My card base is Shaded Spruce with a layer of Boughs of Holly DSP. Before gluing this to the card base, I felt it needed a little more class, so I die cut a piece of Distressed Gold Specialty paper with the largest Deckled Rectangle die and placed it behind.

While I was die cutting the Gold paper, I also cut some of the foliage. The pine cones are stamped in Soft Suede ink onto the same colour card. the pine needles stamp is in Evening Evergreen. I added a piece of vellum die cut with one of the label dies behind the sentiment. The sentiment is from the Trimming the Tree stamp set. This is popped up on dimensionals with some In Color Twine behind.

Week 18 – Early Espresso

Today is the final day of Sale•a•bration for 2022.

The largest die from the Aspen Trees dies is used to cut the Early Espresso card front. Behind this, I glued a piece of the 2022-2024 In Color Glimmer Paper. I stamped the dots/speckles in the same colour ink around the edges of the card front.

Aspen Trees for Early Espresso CCBH by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

The sentiment from the Charming Sentiments Bundle is stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and heat set, before using the coordinating die to cut it out. This was added with Black Mini Dimensionals. I die cut two leaves in the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper, and one in Early Espresso card and these are adhered with glue. A small piece of Linen Thread is added behind the sentiment. To finish off I added some Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots.

On the inside, I placed a Basic White card insert and repeated the dots/speckles around the edge, but I stamped off before onto the white card, so it toned it down. I placed two more of the leaves to the bottom corner.

Pansy Patch Shaker card

Week 17 – Daffodil Delight

At first, I was going to use the Daffodil Daydream stamp set, but I wanted to challenge myself a little more by using the Vintage Bottle Punch with the Effervescent Elements inside the Vintage Bottle Shaker Dome.

So here is my card…

Shaker Card using Pansy Patch and Vintge Bottle by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

A Daffodil Delight card base with a layer of Basic White and then some patterned paper, from the  Wonderful World Bundle that is one of the Sale•a•bration offerings with a $180+ product order until 31 August or while stocks last!

159918

The Vintage Bottle Punch was used to punch this patterned paper ready to insert the dome. Before gluing any of the layers, I stamped a couple of the stems in Soft Succulent ink onto the white card layer so it looks like they are in the bottle. Next I stamped all the images using the following inks; Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Orchid Oasis, Starry Sky, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen before die cutting them with the coordinating dies. Once I worked out the placement, I glued the leaves and stems in place and added 3 of the flowers with Dimensionals. Now was the scary part, trying to put those Effervescent Elements into the dome without spilling them 😉 You may notice a slight blue tinge to the dome – I actually coloured the inside of it with the Dark Pool Party Stampin Blends Marker!

The sentiment is stamped onto one of the Tailor Made Tags dies in Soft Succulent ink and threaded through some Linen Thread. I tied some Soft Succulent Satin Ribbon in a bow and added it to the top of the bottle with two Glue Dots. I finished it off with some Brushed Brass Butterflies.

Torn card technique

2022 Heart of Christmas LogoEach Monday, join me for the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart team. We will be showcasing our July-December Mini catalogue and Annual catalogue Christmas products.

Today’s card is actually very simple to create. You just need some cardstock, patterned paper, glue and a stamp/ink for the greeting, oh and some embellishments if you wish!

Starting with a Thick Basic White card base with layers of Real Red and Basic White, each 5mm smaller than the previous one. Starting with the Real Red layer, carefully tear the cardstock two thirds of the way across the card. Repeat this with the White layer, but make the starting points slightly larger than the Real Red one. Once you are happy with these, glue the Red & White layers together. (many people only do a single layer of the torn cardstock, but I wanted a white base and top layer to stamp on).

Torn Card Technique by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

Now it’s time for some patterned paper to fit behind the torn section. I actually glued the Boughs of Holly designer paper to the back of the layers so I knew it was positioned correctly. Glue these layers to your card base. I actually cut out these two pieces and rolled up the white section only to form the scroll. I tied some Garden Green Ribbon around the scroll and glued it back onto the card. Finally, stamp the sentiment in Garden Green ink and add some Iridescent Rhinestones Jewels.

On the inside, I stamped two more sentiments from the same Brightest Glow stamp set!
