Smoky Slate: Triple Arm Pop Up Card

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 48 – Smoky Slate

This handmade card features the Artisan Sketched Garden 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP), from the upcoming May-August Mini Catalogue starting 5th May. With it’s Black and White illustrated style of florals, stripes, dots, and more, these patterns create a timeless base for your projects. It was the perfect starting point for Smoky Slate this week.

A Smoky Slate card base with another layer dry embossed with the Damask Designs folder. I roughed up the edges with my scissors to add extra texture. The Everyday Arches dies were cut in Smoky Slate and one size smaller in Basic White. This one I used my Water Painters to add different sized watercolour stripes across it, creating my own backdrop. The vases with flowers are fussy cut from one of the DSP sheets. The two that I left ucoloured were from the edges of the DSP and fit perfectly on my design. The one in the centre is added on Dimensionals and coloured with Blends Combo Markers; Daffodil Delight, Pool Party & Soft Sea Foam, for a soft pop of colour. The sentiment is from the Banner Sayings Bundle (stamp set and coordinating Three Banner Punch) to cut it out.

On the inside are three pop up panels (insired by Susan Campfield) with Stylish Shapes die cuts and another vase of flowers coloured the same way as on the front. The other two are Basic White with the same watercoloured stripes across them. On hhe right is a 1″ strip of Smoky Slate dry embossed with the same folder as on the front.

On the left is a white panel to write your message. I must have got some ink on my finger because it left a smudge mark but no fear, I added another banner with ‘happy birthday’ to cover it up! Do you make these silly mistakes when you finally have the card finished?!!!!

On the envelope I stamped the sentiment multiple times, staggering them as I went down the side.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next week for Soft Sea Foam inspiration.

Be sure to add the Product of the Month (POM) for $9 when you add $125+ in product to your cart.

Flowers Fair with Embossed Vellum Technique

While we focus on Shy Shamrock this week, I wanted to share another card I made with the Flowers Fair stamp set.

I stamped the image in Basic Gray ink onto Vellum, sprinkled over Clear Emboss Powder, shake off the excess ad gently melt with my Heat Tool.  Turn it over and place onto a Silcone Craft Sheet or Stampin’ Pierce Mat. Use the Take Your Pick Tool with the Small Stylus end and trace the inside of each image. When you turn it over it will appear white, that’s what you want to create the Embossed Vellum technique!

Once you have done that, use Stampin’ Blends Combo Markers (Melon Mambo & Shy Shamrock) to colour the images on the reverse side.

Die cut the frame using two of the Beautifully Celebrated dies nested together with Secret Sea cardstock. Diecut the largest die into the centre of a piece of Shy Shamrock cardstock the same size as the cardfront.

Cut the vellum to a slighty smaller size than the card front, add adhesive around the edges and adhere it to a Basic Beige card base. Then adhere the Shy Shamrock card over the top and then adhere the frame. To finish, add the sentiment across the frame and some Glossy Dots Assortment.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next week for Smoky Slate inspiration.

Shy Shamrock: Simply Beautiful Watercolour Card

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 47 – Shy Shamrock

This handmade card features the Simply Beautiful Bundle (stamps and coordinating dies). I started with stamping the images onto Fluid 100 Watercolor paper and Vellum with Versamark ink. Gold WOW emboss powder was added, shake off the excess and gently melt it with my Heat Tool.

I pressed my inkpads onto an acrylic block and used that as my palette with Water Painters. The leaves are Shy Shamrock and Pretty Peacock, and the flower is Bubble Bath, Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather. Set aside to dry. The reverse side of a Lovely Doilies is ink blended with Shy Shamrock using Blending Brushes and added to one side of the card. I used scissors to remove the overhanging doily.

Once the images were dry (use a Heat Tool if needed), die cut them with the cooredinating dies. Sit them onto the card to work out thr placement. The vellum flower I cut in half to use above and below with some extra leaves. Once I was happy with the layout, I stamped extra leaves with Shy Shamrock ink directly onto the card base (and down the side of the envelope). The sentiment is stamped onto a strip of Basic White card. Adhere the vellum images the add the watercolor images on top with Dimensionals. The stamen is a Gold Foil die cut and added with Glue.

Some Low Profile Dots are added to finish the card. Extra images are added on the inside to continue the theme.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next week for Smoky Slate inspiration.

Pumpkin Pie: Flowers Fair

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 44 – Pumpkin Pie

These handmade cards features the new Flowers Fair stamp set (a large background stamp) was the first to catch my eye in the new release products for March. I see so many possibilities for ways to colour these gorgeous flowers.

My first card is stamped in Black Memento ink onto white card and coloured with Watercolor Pencils, then I used a Blender Pen to blend the colour to make it more vibrant.

The second card I stamped in Versamark ink onto Basic Black card, added White Emboss Powder and melted it with the Heat Tool. Using the Craft White ink refill, I added a few drops onto a Clear Acrylic Block and using a brush, filled in all the images.

The White outlines were coloured using Blends Combo Markers and once dry, the images are filled with Wink of Stella (it’s hard to see the sparkle in the photo).

Both image layers are mounted onto a layer of Pumpin Pie cardstock then onto the card base. The sentiments are from the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack and some retired ribbons. To finish off, I added a few of the little gold Dragonflies I had in my stash!

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next week for Real Red inspiration.

This Accordion Double Gatefold card features the Lovely & Beautiful Specialty DSP, the Simply Beautiful Bundle and the Banner Sayings Bundle.

Here is the card open. On the narrow centre pieces I have added DSP to the left and right sides. In the centre is white card stamped with Happy birthday and the panels either side are stamped with one of the flower images in Pretty in Pink ink. Poppy Parade: Lovely & Beautiful Mosaic Card

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 43 – Poppy Parade

This handmade card features the Lovely & Beautiful Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) with not a stamp, die or inkpad to be seen!

This is a very simple card if you love a bit of colouring, but of course, you could just use a pretty piece of paper if you wish. The cutting is random but with that mosaic look for something a little different. By minimising the use of Poppy Parade elsewhere, makes the red flowers pop the most!

How you can re-create this card

  1. Using Blends Combo Markers, colour a piece of the white & gold foiled DSP, 9.5cm x 10cm. I coloured the background using the Light Pool Party Blend to match the card base. This helps the brighter colours pop.
  2. Score a piece of Pool Party card stock in half and burnish. 21cm x 14.9cm, scored @ 10.5cm.
  3. Place the DSP into your trimmer and cut it into random pieces. I started with slanted horizontal ones then went back and cut them inin two vertically on angles. Try to keep them in order as you go, as it will be easier to put it all back together like a jigsaw puzzle.
  4. Adhere the pieces to your card base leaving a small gap between each one.
  5. Cut a narrow strip of Poppy Parade card and adhere it across the card and trim the edges.
  6. Add the sentiment [Greetings For You Mix & Match Ephemera] and some embellishments [12 Days of Christmas Advent Calendar] to finish.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next week for Pretty in Pink inspiration.

Birthday Flower Box card

Fresh Freesia is a soft but pretty tone and I’ve added some of the Mixed Up Patterns DSP on the right side in the background. A very narrow strip of Gold Foil adds a lovely shiny touch, with some Gold White Ribbon wrapped around and tied in a bow.
The Textured Notes dies perfectly frame the feature and these are heavily reduced in the online store if you don’t already own them, they are a must!!!
The Crumb Cake box has 4 of the posies placed behind to resemble a flower box.
The Valentine Kisses Bundle can be made into cute ‘out of the box’ cards like this!

This design was cased from a card shown by Erica Wade (Create with Erica on Facebook) for an upcoming class of hers.

Pool Party: Thinking of You

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 40 – Pool Party

This handmade card features products from the Lovely & Beautiful Suite Collection.

It’s funny how you start out with an idea in your head, but the card morphs itself into something totally different. I began this card by diecutting the Gold Foil pieces [Beautifully Celebrated dies] that are around the circle [Stylish Shapes dies] feature, these are actually meant to be like ‘photo corner’ pieces. I was hoping they would create a different frame – I was happy with how it came together!

The Pool Party circle is dry embossed with the Exposed Brick 3D EF. The images are Gold heat embossed on Basic White card and coloured using Blends Combo Markers, then diecut with the coordinating dies.

The sentiment is Gold WOW heat embossed and fussy cut. Some Gold Mesh Ribbon was cut lengthwise and added towards to the bottom of the circle, then the layering of the other elements began. The flowers and leaves, I used my fingers to bend the sides to give them more lift.

On a Pretty Peacock cardbase, I’ve layered some of the Designer Series Paper [Square Snippets DSP] onto some Pool Party cardstock. Before addding the feature piece, I stamped a splatter to the corners in Pretty Peacock ink, it’s hard to see, but subtle.

I stamped and coloured another flower and leaves to add to the inside corner and on the envelope!

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next week for Poppy Parade inspiration.

30th Feminine Gatefold card

Hello crafty friends,

Now that my recipient has received her card, I can share it with you!
This pretty gatefold card was made for a work colleague for her milestone birthday.
The front was a piece of Basic White card embossed in the Sunflower 3D Embossing folder with Versamark ink applied directly to one side of the folder before closing it. Once embossed, Gold WOW Emboss Powder was added and melted with my heat tool. Blending brushes were used to add ink colours [Pretty in Pink & Summer Splash] before slicing in half, matting each with Summer Splash card and adhered to the card front panels. I never tire of gold heat embossing and the photos never give the shine justice!

The front feature is a Summer Splash circle [Stylish Shapes dies] with Gold Foil pieces [Beautifully Celebrated dies] adhered with another circle of Gold Foil onto top. The sentiment [Banner Sayings] is stamped onto the same colour card and cut out using the Three Banner Punch. This is adhered on Dimensionals, but only place them on one half of the circle.

As you open the card you can see that front feature only adhered to the left panel.

On the inside is a Summer Splash layer with a Basic White layer partially embossed with the Sunflower 3D EF (and the side on the envelope as you can see in the first pic). The sentiment [Simply Said] is stamped in Pretty in Pink and the numbers [Alphabet A La Mode dies] added at the top.

Thanks for dropping by.
