Cottage Wreaths with scored backgrounds

2022 Heart of Christmas LogoWow, I’m back from Sydney where I attended the in-person OnStage event for demonstrators. It was awesome to catch up with everyone after a 3 year hiatus thanks to Covid, and we got to play with new product and receive a copy of the Jan-Jun Mini 2023. More about this event later, as tonight we focus on our 20th week of the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart team.

These cards are very simple in their design, using the Cottage Wreaths Bundle, but the background scoring is slightly different on each card. The Simply Scored is a fantastic addition to any craft room. Have you ever played with different scoring patterns?

This first one is a cross hatch design. The card base and scored layer are Thick Basic White card with a layer of Gold Brushed Metallic cardstock.

The inside of my card is quite simple with a single layer wreath with a gold foil strip across the centre and a small sentiment in the centre.

The Soft Succulent and Gold Foil Wreath with some Red Festive Pearls for the berries. A Red Glimmer bow is added, because every wreath needs a bow, right?!

This wreath card uses the Cottage Wreaths Bundle from the July-December Mini catalogue. I have stamped the smaller images in a wreath using the Stamparatus and the stamp in the round (SITR) technique. Once the wreath was stamped, the Layering Circles dies cut it out.

How did I create the background? I took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and on the back, I drew two lines, horizontally and vertically (centred). Place it in the Simply Scored and score the lines from one centre point to the next. Then I added another 3 scorelines at 1/8″ intervals on each side (towards the corners). When complete, turn it over and adhere to the Evening Evergreen card base.

The Layering Circles dies were used to cut the Very Vanilla circles and the scallop circles in Soft Succulent card to coordinate with the stamped fronds in the same colour ink. The holly and sentiment are Evening Evergreen ink and the berries are Poppy Parade ink. The big red bow is cut from Red Glitter paper and some of the Red & Green Festive Pearls were added. The berries also have some Wink of Stella on them for a little extra shine!

Trimming the Tree cards

2022 Heart of Christmas LogoEach Monday, join me for the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart team. We will be showcasing our July-December Mini catalogue and Annual catalogue Christmas products.

Some things are great on their own but become epic when they are paired with coordinating dies! Tonight I have two cards using the Trimming the Tree Bundle (save 10%). The Trimming the Tree stamp set is already in the catalogue, but the Tree Trimming dies are exclusive to the Perfect Partners promotion and are only available while supplies last during September (they will not be available in future catalogues).

Card 1 – I have added a layer of Gingham Cottage DSP to a Thick Basic White card base. I placed the tree stamp onto the Stamparatus plate and inked it up with Mint Macaron. I also took a sponge dauber and some Garden Green ink and daubed some around the edges before stamping onto Basic White card. Using the coordinating dies, cut out the tree and some of the little bows from 2022-24 In Color Glimmer paper.

The base is die cut from Kraft card. The Fabulous Frames dies were used to cut the 4 corner pieces from Gold Foil. The vellum was run through my Cut & Emboss machine in the Whimsical Woodland 3D Embossing Folder. Doesn’t it look amazing?!

Glue the Gold Foil pieces to the vellum layer and add the tree on dimensionals. Place glue on the back of the vellum behind all the pieces added so it doesn’t show through once dry. Adhere this to the card. I finished off with a Gold & Vanilla Satin edged ribbon bow adhered with a glue dot.

Card 2 – The card base is Evening Evergreen. The patterned paper in the background is from the Lights Aglow Specialty DSP with a piece of Gold Shimmer Ribbon across the join. Adhere this to the card base.

The tree is die cut from a piece of the Gingham Cottage DSP with a Distressed Gold Specialty paper star and basket. The bows are die cut from the 2022-24 In Color Glimmer paper. The sentiment is stamped onto Basic White card in Mint Macaron ink and die cut. The tree and sentiment are added on dimensionals.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you can join me next week for more Christmas inspiration!

Please continue to hop and enjoy the wonderful inspiration of my lovely Sydney friend, Cathy Proctor.

Tahitian Tide Miura card

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 5 – Tahitian Tide

Tonight we showcase our fifth new 2022-2024 In Colors, Tahitian Tide!

How do you pronounce Miura? [MEE] + [OOR] + [UH]. When I Googled it, I found that in 1985, Japanese astrophysicist Koryo Miura proposed a form of rigid origami, a style of folding paper (or other materials) that allows each section to remain flat—a necessary condition for stiff materials.

I have been fascinated by this fold style for a while and it was time to give it a go!

Miura Fancy Fold Card using Stampin Up In Color Tahitian Tide for Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan Australia 2022 closed

My card base is the Thick Basic White card and decorated with patterned papers from the new 2022-2024 In Color DSP pack and the Tea Boutique DSP pack. The Scalloped Contour dies was used to cut the white layer and then I used the fancy die from the Happiness Abounds Bundle to create that lovely pattern (notice it doesn’t cut everything out – so pretty). The flowers and leaves are stamped and die cut. The flowers are coloured using the Wink of Stella, taking some ink directly from the inkpad, to add some darker colour. The leaves are coloured with the Parakeet Party Light Stampin’ Blends marker. The sentiment is stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and heat set with the Heat Tool. This was fussy cut with Paper Snips and added on Dimensionals.

This is the card fully open so you can see all the beautiful patterned papers.

The feature on the inside is one flower white embossed and the other stamped on white. Both coloured the same way as the front. This sentiment was done using the Stamparatus. I inked only the word ‘birthday’ with Versamark ink, added White Emboss Powder and heat set it. Place it back in the Stamparatus (ensure you clean the stamp with your Shammy) and ink up the word ‘happy’ with the Tahitian Tide ink and stamp. I actually inked it a second time (benefits of using this amazing tool) to ensure I had enough ink transferred to the card before adding Clear Emboss Powder and heat setting. Fussy cut and glue across the flowers. I love how this looks against the two flowers!

I finished the card by adding some Basic Pearl Jewels!!!

There are quite a few YouTube videos of this fold (search Iced Images or Sam Calcott). I liked how there is a second piece of card added behind so it can stand up to be displayed. I mean who wouldn’t want to display a card like this?!!!!

There is plenty of room on the back of the card to write your message! It fits into a standard envelope for posting, but it may depend on how much dimension you add, if postage may be slightly higher.

Would you give this fancy fold design a go?

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you can join me next week for inspiration using Balmy Blue!

Soft Suede Blog Hop ~ Two different techniques using the Stamparatus!

CCS Logo 2021-22

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 46 – Soft Suede

Tonight I have two cards for you, both using the Stamparatus to show you how wonderful this product is and if you like things perfect, this is the tool for you!

Card 1 – is a masculine card using For The Record stamp set. My card base is Basic Black with a layer of Soft Suede which has two sentiments stamped down the right side using the Stamparatus and the hinged stamping technique. This means you stamp once, move the acrylic plate down one notch and stamp again and repeat to have a uniform pattern. I stamped these in Soft Suede and Memento Black inks.

For the Record Masculine card for Soft Suede Colour Creations blog hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022.

The record image is stamped in Versamark Ink onto Basic Black card. I added Clear Emboss Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.  I cut it out using the Layering Circles dies. I added a few Dimensionals to the back of the record but didn’t take off the Dimensional backings. Leave them on so the record spins. I pierced a hole through the centre of the record and the Suede layer using the Take Your Pick Tool and added a brad, gently closing it at the back. These layers are added to the card base with Dimensionals. Now the record spins!!!

The heart is Real Red card and cut using the Give It a Whirl dies and added to the brad with a glue dot.

On the inside, I placed a Basic White card insert and partially stamped the record three times across the bottom in Soft Suede ink.

Card 2 – uses the Nothing’s Better Than stamp set and coordinating Love You More Than dies.

My card base is Thick Basic White with layers of Soft Suede and Symbols of Fortune Specialty DSP. The stamped top layer is created using the Stamparatus and the Wreath Builder technique or Stamping in the Round (SITR) technique. The cookie outline is Soft Suede ink and the solid fill image is Crumb Cake ink. It reminds me of a plate of cookies sitting on a marble benchtop 🙂

Nothing's better than SITR card for Soft Suede Colour Creations blog hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

You can see the die cut word ‘cookies’ has a 3D raised look – I applied an Adhesive Foam Sheet to the back of the Soft Suede layer and die cut this word in the centre, before gluing the white stamped layer on top to cover it up! This also gave this top section some extra depth.

On the inside stamped with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede inks and the same on the envelope!

Birthday, Designer/Patterned/Specialty Papers (DSP), Handmade Cards, One Sheet Wonder, Stampin' Up!

Playful Pets 6″ x 6″ one sheet wonder

I have 4 cards for you today that are created from one piece of 6″ x 6″ designer paper (beware of directional designs).

Simply place the designer paper in your trimmer with the top right corner lined up with the 3cm (from the left) and the bottom right corner lined up at the 3cm mark on the right side of the trimmer and cut. Then holding the two pieces of paper together, carefully rotate it and line it up again in the same position and cut (see below).

You should then have 4 pieces like this

So now that you have your 4 x pieces, you can cut your 4 x card bases in accordance with what orientation best suits. I have done 2  landscape and 2 portrait. I glued the patterned paper to the cards first, then embossed the card fronts with different patterned folders. Next I die cut some of the images from the patterned paper with the coordinating dies and some of the images are stamped and coloured with watercolour pencils and a blender pen.

All the sentiments on these cards are stamped using the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set and cut with the Classic Label Punch.

This black cat is simply punched using the Cat Punch and adhered with dimensionals.

This next one has a die cut Flirty Flamingo piece behind the cat and you can see the white border drawn around it.  This is done by leaving the die on top of the die cut piece and using the White Chalk Marker, trace around the inside of the die twice!

On the inside, I stamped them all the same – using the Stamparatus made this super easy and quick. Once the stamps are setup on the stamparatus all together, ink them all at once and stamp on 4 separate inserts!

A full list of products can be found at the end of this post.

Favourite Stampin Up AC 2020-21 products Craft with Kate

I started with a white square card base and layered some Just Jade card & patterned paper before stamping on the white card using the Stamp in the Round (SITR) technique.

The centre circle features can be cut from the centre of the two larger layers before gluing them down to the base card to get the most out of your products. The sentiment can also be stamped on the larger Jade card and fussy cut. This was stamped in Versamark ink, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder added and heat set before fussy cutting. This circle feature in the centre is popped up on dimensionals and a couple of 2020-22 In Color Enamel Dots scatted across the card to finish it off.

Lovely You SIP card

Oh how I love a quick and easy card and this one is just that using Stamps, Ink & Paper (SIP)!

Some simple stamping to create the background and then a punch to create the sentiment.

The Lovely You Bundle is awesome – I love these smaller floral images.

Lovely You Bundle by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2020

I cut my stamps in half between the stem and the bloom so that I can stamp even faster. By spacing the stamps on the blocks you can have two ink pads open and ink the stamps in different colours at the same time!

Smile for Lovely You

This Lovely You Bundle was also added to my shopping cart as soon as I was able to order it during our demonstrator pre-order period. I just love the smaller floral images, especially because they are perfect for creating the Stamp in the Round style of card (SITR).

By creating a template to use in your Stamparatus, you can stamp an image, rotate the cardstock 90o and stamp again. Continue this process and you end up with a stunning design all in perfect position.
