A World of Good

Now that you have seen the new 2020-2021 Annual catalogue, what are your top products that you want to buy or have already purchased? If you are anything like me, I couldn’t wait for 3 June to arrive!!!! 💜

This World of Good Suite was top of my list (along with a few others, hehe) and I love that we have a few more masculine products to select from this year. I really struggle creating masculine cards, but this suite is just fantastic with all the coordinating products to choose from!

The designer paper I have used today is from the one sheet. I just cut one third off, flipped it over and glued it to my card! This is a great way of seeing both sides of the papers.

World of Good Suite by Kate Morgan Stampin Up Australia 2020

Do you see that feather? Well the die doesn’t emboss all that detail on it, so I just used the stylus from my Simply Scored and added all those lines, freehand!

The sentiment is stamped on Early Espresso card in Verssmark ink, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder added and heat set. The Lovely Labels Pick a Punch is new and it is fantastic. You can make 3 different width sizes and 2 different fancy shapes at the ends of the labels and you can make any length, all from the one punch!!!

It is hard to see in this picture below, but the Brass Foiling on the paper is so bright and shiny; it’s a real wow!

Colour Creations Showcase – Balmy Blue

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Today is the first day we begin this new adventure of the Colour Creations Showcase. You may recall we did one of these with the last colour refresh a year or two ago, and it was loads of fun, so every Wednesday we will bring to you, projects showcasing one particular Stampin’ Up! colour. There are 50 colours in the collection and today we begin with Balmy Blue!

For today’s card I am using the stamp set, A Good Man and some of the new designer series paper, World of Good, along with some other new products available in the Annual catalogue.

A Good Man masculine card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2020

My colour combination

Balmy Blue Night of Navy Whisper White Early Epresso

The designer paper is given that aged look with the new Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder. It is just perfect for this project, don’t you think?

A Good Man masculine card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2020 s

The image is stamped with Memento Black ink and coloured with Stampin’ Blends Markers, then die cut using the Tasteful Labels dies. I ran the Saddle Brown Stazon ink pad around the edges of this die cut image (and the Designer Paper) to add that aged look.

On the inside of the card, I added a layer of Balmy Blue and Whisper White card and stamped the sentiment and a heart in coordinating inks.

Farewell Country Club

I am very sad to be saying farewell to this amazing bundle of products; Country Club suite, and the end of the month. Having parents who are keen golfers, this has been a wonderful addition to my crafting stash!

SITR Country Club Suite 2020 Mini by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia

The centre layer is a piece of 4″ x 4″ white card stock placed in the Stamparatus and stamped in a circle using a template that I made. You can find loads of video tutorials on this technique, Stamp in the Round on YouTube. The mat layer is Terracotta Tile card on the DSP and all layered onto a Garden Green card base.

Have you tried this technique? I adore it!

My next card to share with you focuses on the Designer Papers and the Stamp & Die bundle!

Straight to the Clubhouse

Tonight’s card was super quick to make with just some DSP, embellishments and stamping. By adding a few die cuts to add some interest, this card was done in no time!

Cut the piece of DSP 5mm smaller than your card front, then cut it at 8cm and flip the smaller piece over and glue them to the front of the card! I put some twine across this join with a couple of glue dots holding it down.

These wood elements are so awesome for adding texture to your cards. Simply stamp a sentiment on the shield with Black Stazon ink so it doesn’t bleed (don’t ask me how I know)! This particular stamp is from the A Good Man stamp set.

A Good Man is very masculine

Tonight I have a masculine card using the stamp set, A Good Man!

A Good Man masculine card by Kate Morgan Stampin Up Australia 2019.JPG

I adore these images and just looking at it makes me take a deep breathe and think of relaxing by the seaside, and taking time for ourselves to just breathe.

This is also perfect timing with Father’s Day coming up and the images in this set are just ideal for that special man in your life.

The image is coloured using Stampin’ Blends markers; Pretty Peacock & Seaside Spray Combos and Light Crumb Cake for the skin tones and Light Pool Party framing around the entire image to add some depth.

Here is another one I made with a different image.

Masculine Trifold card to sail home

Tonight’s card is a fancy trifold card using the Sailing Home bundle. Purchase this stamp set and coordinating dies together and save 10%.

don’t you just love these colours together? I sure do and they are Night of Navy, Balmy Blue and Smoky Slate and a Soft Suede wheel!

Trifold card using Stampin Up Sailing Home Bundle by Kate Morgan, Australia, 2019 Fancy Folds

I love using Designer paper as the card base. When they are double sided, you want to show off both sides of the paper and this is a great fold to do this. Don’t you agree?

I popped up the lighthouse and the anchor on dimensionals for added depth and tied a little piece of twine through the anchor.

Whisper White card – 2¾” x 4″ and 3¾” x 5½”

Slider card and Smooshing with watercolour technique with Instructions

Tonight I have a couple of techniques with some watercolour smooshing and a slider card!

I taught this to my class ladies earlier this month and they loved it. It’s always great having a masculine themed class and we focused on this bundle mainly. It reminded me that I must do more masculine themed classes in the future.

To create the watercolour background, I put a couple of drops of re-inker, reasonably close together onto a sheet of acetate, spritzed it with water and then lay the Fluid 100 watercolour paper on top and gently pressed down with the finger tips (don’t rub). You don’t want the colours to mix together, just gently blend. You may need to place the paper down again so you cover the entire piece, as the excess we cut away, will be used later. I then put this aside to dry while I stamped the images and the inside of the card.

Slider card & Smooshing Technique using Stampin Up Sailing Home Bundle by Kate Morgan, Australia, 2019.

The lighthouse is stamped in Soft Suede and coloured with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Combo pack to get the darker and lighter shading. The boats are stamped in Night of Navy ink and coloured with Combo Blends of So Saffron and Poppy Parade. I added some Wink of Stella to the water below the boats rather than colouring it.

Slider card & Smooshing Technique using Stampin Up Sailing Home Bundle by Kate Morgan, Australia, 2019

On the inside I stamped the sentiment, add a Copper Foil anchor and the rope is part of the leftover pieces from the excess watercolour paper! The straight piece of rope is from the slider mechanism from the front!!!

Slider card & Smooshing Technique using Stampin Up Sailing Home Bundle by Kate Morgan, Australia 2019

To create the slider card mechanism:slider card mechanism.JPG

Score 2 lines on card, punch 2 circles with lines through the centre. Fold them into a taco shape. Place glue on the bottom of one and glue them together to create the H shape.

Cut the watercolour piece down to the size you require and die cut the rope die across the front where you want the sliding sailing boat to be. With the strip of left over water-coloured paper, glue this to the card base behind where the die-cut rope was so it still looks great and not having the Navy card show through. I did this by placing the paper down the watercolour paper roughly where I wanted it centred on the card and used a pencil to mark on the card base, either end of the rope, as a guide.

Add glue to the flat side and adhere to the larger sailing ship, ensuring that it is the right orientation (scorelines horizontal). Slide this into the slot so each side is facing toward the top and bottom of the card. It is easiest to do this step before you adhere the front panel to the card base. I used Adhesive Foam Strips around the edges of the watercolour layer and then two more strips either side of the mechanism, but ensure you allow enough space for the circles to slide along.

slider card mechanism.

This is not a spinner card, but a slider card, as I didn’t want the sailing boat doing circles on the ocean. If you want it to spin, you would use some washers from the hardware store joined together by a mini dimensional.

I hope these instructions make sense.

Masculine Origami Window Card

Today, I have a masculine card for you using the Classic Garage Designer series paper. I don’t have any of the other products from this suite, so I had to come up with a design using only the paper.

Classic Garage DSP & Butterlfy Gala Origami Window Masculine card Stampin Up Occasions by Kate Morgan Australia 2019.JPG

My colour combination is Tranquil Tide, Crushed Curry and Real Red.

classic garage dsp & butterlfy gala origami window masculine card stampin up occasions by kate morgan australia 2019.

The top section I used the Origami Window Fold and then layered it onto some coordinating colours as mat layers. The sentiments are from the Butterfly Gala stamp set stamped in Tranquil Tide ink. I love those Rectangle Stitched Framelits which I used on the front of the card and layered it over some of the Tranquil Tide Woven Ribbon tide in a knot. Can you see the spine of the card where I threaded the ribbon through? I used the 1/2″ circle punch to make a small notch in the spine. This is a clever way of adding ribbon and when you look at the front of the card, you don’t even notice the punched notch!

On the inside I added a piece of Crushed Curry card and a small strip of the DSP down one side, then stamped the sentiment.

Looking forward to warmer weather with High Tide

Today’s card has a summery feel to it and yes, I am still waiting for some warmer days to appear in cold Melbourne town! It is Spring and daylight savings is about to start tomorrow night, so hopefully that will mean some better days ahead.

IMG_4846.JPG

I have recently purchased this High Tide stamp set and wanted to get it out and have a play.

High Tide Masculine card using Stampin Up by Kate Morgan, Australia 2018.JPG

I have used quite a few different ink pads, although it doesn’t really look overly colourful, but I do love the Pineapple Punch card base with Very Vanilla layer to really bring it to life!

Once I had finished stamping, I felt it still needed something… maybe because it was a single layer card, meaning there was no dimension to it. So pulled out my Wink of Stella and turned to moon into a shiny moon with refection on the water and the tops of the wings of the birds flying high in the sky have a silvery tone to them.

High Tide Masculine card using Stampin Up by Kate Morgan, Australia 2018.

I also felt it still needed something else, so instead of cutting it down and adding a mat layer, I decided to sponge the edges with Versamark ink, add some Gold Emboss Powder and heat set it. This is a great way to add that layered look and some extra shine!

Here is the inside without a sentiment at the moment. I’m not sure what it will end up being, whether it’s for a birthday, sympathy, thinking of you, or could even be a happy holidays card!

The water is stamped in Pool Party and Soft Sea Foam. The lighthouse is Gray Granite and Blueberry Bushel. The beach is Sahara Sand. The plants are Mossy Meadow. The birds are Memento Black. The moon and reflection are Smoky Slate.
