Week 29 – Merry Merlot
Today’s card was inspired by Amy Shihinski (in Canada), but I needed to change it up to suit our Metric measurements here in the South Pacific. If you wish to see Amy’s measurements, there will be a link at the end of this post.
I made this card for my hubby’s birthday on Sunday. He accompanied me to Sydney so I could attend OnStage on Saturday with 500 crafty friends, he spent the day wandering around Sydney by himself and had a wonderful time. Not sure why he wouldn’t attend OnStage with me, LOL!
Anyway, I carefully carried this card all the way to Sydney in my luggage to surprise him on Sunday morning.
I have used the Brewed for You Bundle and the Lights Aglow Specialty Designer Series Paper and Gold Brushed Metallic Foil.
The stamping is all done in Black Memento, Crushed Curry and Merry Merlot inks and die cut using the coordinating Brewed dies. The Snowfall Accents Puff Paint was added to the beer glasses and heated with the Heat Tool to activate.
Here is the real wow of this card when you open it!
You may notice that the sentiments and the beer glass look a little different on the inside, as they were not going to fit on the card. Never fear, I just adapted. The glass wasn’t going to fit as it was too tall, so I cut the top off down to the beer level and added the froth! The sentiments across the centre panels, I had to carefully ink up individual words, covering the ones I didn’t want, covered with some washi tape (remember to remove the tape before stamping onto the card though!).
Here are my measurements (metric):
Merry Merlot A5 card base: 14.8cm x 21cm, scored in half @ 10.5cm
Basic White Card insert: 20cm x 14cm (see image below)
Merry Merlot Matt layers: 4.5cm x 4.5cm (8), 2cm x 3.5cm (4), 4.5cm x 3.5cm (2)
Lights Aglow SDSP layers: 4cm x 4cm (4)
Gold Foil layers: 4cm x 4cm (2), 1.5cm x 3cm (4)
Basic White layers: 4cm x 4cm (2), 4cm x 3cm (2)
