Week 40 – Real Red

Real Red is lovely bright red, but it is not a colour I use a lot of. My first instinct was to stamp and colour a rose, but wanted to try something completely different. I had a sample of this Snail Mail DSP which has Real Red listed as one of the colours. Because I don’t have anything else from this suite, I decided to really focus on the papers. One sheet has lots of larger snails, so I cut one out with my paper snips.

My card base is Real Red with a Basic White layer. The patterned paper is one sheet, but I cut a third off and flipped it over for a bit of contrast and I quite like the sentiments in the speech bubbles. The Ornate Borders die is used to add some interest between the two pieces of DSP.

Once again I used a Square Vellum Doilie to soften the bold patterned paper.

Are you wondering where I got the mushroom? I made it myself using the Ice Cream Builder Punch for the hood (Real Red & Blushing Bride), a 1/8″ circle punch for the dots and cut the white stem by hand!

The ‘happy birthday’ sentiment is stamped in Real Red and I used my electric cutting machine to cut it out or you can use paper snips to fussy cut.

Monthly Creative Showcase: Sketch challenge

AWHT Creative Showcase

For tonight’s showcase, we were given a card sketch as a starting point for inspiration. This is something that I really struggle with, but really wanted to challenge myself to have a go at.

This card is for my Father-in-law birthday so I started with the Well Suited DSP. I chose Pacific Point as my card base and then layered two patterns of the DSP, joining them under the Seaside Spray Scallop Ribbon Trim. The stitched triangles are embossed using the Scripty 3D, Tasteful Textile 3D & Hammered Metal 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folders. The Happy Birthday (Sweet Ice Cream stamp set) is stamped in Night of Navy ink, fussy cut with Paper Snips then added with Dimensionals.

Thanks to Ros Davidson, I had a go at making some of my own Faux Resin Dots. Using a standard hole punch, I punched some cardstock, placed them onto the Silicone Mat and added some Fine Tip Glue piled up on top. Allow them to dry fully (a few hours), before adding them to your card with a glue dot.

On the inside, I added an offcut of the DSP and stamped the sentiments with Night of Navy ink and the stars with Pacific Point ink.

Week 39 – Purple Posy

Purple Posy is lovely soft purple and one of the InColors which will sadly retire in the next few months when 5 new InColors will be introduced.

I cannot stop using these Pierced Blooms dies. They are just fabulous!

My card base is Purple Posy with a layer of Highland Heather then a Basic White piece, dry embossed with the Painted Texture 3D TIEF.

I love this colour combination: Rococo Rose – Purple Posy – So Saffron – Soft Sea Foam

The sentiment is stamped in Highland Heather ink and cut out with an electronic cutting machine if you have one, or simply fussy cut with Paper Snips. The sentiment and the flowers are popped up on dimensionals and everything else is glued with Multipurpose Glue.

How cute are those little Butterfly Gems – they come in all the 2019-2021 InColors.

On the inside I added another flower die cut and strips of card like on the front of the card!

Icypoles are a favourite in my house!

Today’s card is very simple to create, as the background DSP does all the work for you! This is the reverse side of one of the sheets in the Ice Cream Corner 12″ x 12″ patterned paper pack.

Who doesn’t love an icypole on a warm day?!!! Well it’s a long weekend in Melbourne this weekend and the weather is warming up again, so I’m sure my kids will be wanting some icypoles to cool down.

The icypoles are stamped in Mango Melody and Magenta Madness and the stick is Crumb Cake ink. Once I stamped both the icypoles, I fussy cut them and adhered them with dimensionals. The same is done with the sentiment stamped in Bermuda Bay to match the background.

The Square Vellum Doilies add some softness to the bold background so the icypoles stand out more.

Week 38 – Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin Pie is one of my least used colours in the Stampin’ Up! range. I haven’t used much of it in my card today, but I actually love how it looks with Misty Moonlight.

I took a piece of the patterned paper from the Dandy Garden 6″ x 6″ DSP pack. I cut the piece to fit my White card base.

I stamped the butterfly image twice in Memento Black ink using the Stamparatus, then die cut them both. Placing them on the card I wanted to add a sentiment through the centre at an angle, so I cut a strip out of the centre of the DSP before gluing the two pieces at either end of the card base.

The butterflies are coloured with Stampin’ Blends Combo Markers; Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody, Misty Moonlight & Granny Apple Green. They are add with dimensionals to the card.

This sentiment from the Quite Curvy stamp set, is stamped in Misty Moonlight ink. I coloured some pearls with the Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends Marker.

Week 37 – Pretty Peacock

These projects tonight use the Art Gallery bundle and some of the coordinating products from the suite.

The Golden Garden Specialty Acetate is so pretty and I really wanted to use some but wasn’t sure where to start. I layered it over some of the Fine Art Floral DSP, but this is the reverse side that was less patterned so the gold of the acetate really shines. I cut the acetate to the same size as the DSP.

The flower is stamped in So Saffron ink and then Versamark for the second layer, heat and stick powder added, melted gently with the heat tool and then the Gilded Leafing added. I have started using a sponge dauber to rub off the excess gold leafing, as I found the oils in my fingers were leaving it a little dull. The leaves are stamped off once in Pretty Peacock so it isn’t so dark. Die cut these images with the coordinating dies. Stamp and die cut the sentiment. Add dimensionals on the back of the stamped images.

Place the square vellum doilies at an angle in the centre of the acetate then stick the flower and leaves on. Turn the acetate layer over and place Tear & Tape only behind where the flower and sentiment are, so it’s not visible from the front. Now place the acetate onto the DSP.

Wrap the ribbon around both layers of DSP & Acetate and tie in a bow. Add glue to the back and adhere it to the card base. Finally add some of the Butterfly Gems to finish it off.

For my next card I have used the Gilded Leafing to simulate the technique many call, scrappy strip. By simply cutting the DSP to size, then placing 4 strips of Tear & Tape at angles down the paper. Take off the backing paper and add the Gilded Leafing. I use a sponge dauber to brush off the excess.

Sweet Strawberry SITR card

Did you see my blueberry card last week? Click here to see it now. This strawberry card is created in the exact same way, but I also dry embossed the stamped wreath layer with the Subtles 3D TIEF for added texture, after I had finished stamping.

I stamped the strawberry & flowers in Flirty Flamingo ink and the outline in Poppy Parade ink. Granny Apple Green was used for the stem, leaves & sentiment.

I added an extra strip of the patterned paper onto Poppy Parade card, then glued it into the inside.

Watercoloured Hummingbird

Hummingbirds are the most fascinating little birds and this stamp set, A Touch of Ink [155233], free to choose with a $180 product order this month during Sale-a-bration, has these gorgeous images.

My card base is Soft Sea Foam with a layer of Champagne Foil. Another layer of Basic White card is stamped with the flowers image multiple times in the same colour ink. The Blending Brushes were used to add colour of Soft Sea Foam from the top and down the sides of the card. This is a great way to colour without being so precise in just colouring the images alone.

I stamped the bird in Sahara Sand ink and coloured it using the Watercolour Pencils and Blender Pens. The Layered Circles Dies were used to cut it out and then a matt layer of Champagne Foil in the next size up with the scalloped edge die. This was die cut out of the first layer of the card; so you don’t even notice it when you place the stamped white layer on top!

I added some Wink of Stella to the Hummingbird for that extra glimmer!

Week 35 – Pool Party

This birthday card is so much fun, with the donkey kicking up the pile of presents… I can almost hear it laughing!!!

Using the Darling Donkeys stamp set (FREE product during Saleabration with $90+ order) and the Kangaroo & Company stamp set, where I have used the presents image. I also stamped this image across the background of my card in Pool Party ink.

The donkey and presents are stamped in Memento ink onto Basic White card using the Stamparatus to line them up perfectly, then die cut using the Stitched Nested Labels dies.

The images are coloured using Blends Combo Markers; Pool Party, Smoky Slate & Real Red. The rhinestones are also coloured with the Pool Party Blends to coordinate with the cardstock. The present at the front, is also stamped with little star type images from the Darling Donkeys set.

Oh how I love this Gold Gilded Leafing, it looks stunning on projects and I cannot wait to play some more with it!

Just look at the texture of the flowers on that Designer Paper – those flowers look like they are painted on with acrylic/oil paint. Well that is because the paper is photographed from an actual painting before being printed!
