Really going to miss this little bunny…

Dear Crafters,

Today I share a card using mainly products that will be retiring on 31 May and will be selling fast over the coming weeks.

Here is one of my favourite colour combinations and two of these will be retiring 😦

I was a bit sad that this cute little bunny stamp set was retiring, but it is one that I will be hanging on to. It is so versatile, it is great for baby cards as well as Easter!

Sweet Little Something Bunny card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia.JPG

It may be easier to tell you what product isn’t retiring (not including tools, eg Big Shot): whisper white cardstock, classic label punch and the sahara sand, crumb cake & soft suede inks. That’s all, everything else is only available while stocks last!

I am really going to miss those Lots of Labels dies too, I use them loads 😦

I did use the Stamparatus to stamp the bunny as I made a few of these cards. It’s so much quicker to have the stamps lined up and then you just change the plates each time to stamp. More on that though once the Stamparatus is available on 1 June 🙂

The sponging around the edge of the die cut was done with Pink Pirouette and then a lighter layer of Rose Red just on the edges. Isn’t is pretty?!!!

Springtime Foils with Pop Up Gold Butterfly

Dear Crafters,

Today I share another card that we made on Saturday at my class. This one uses the absolutely stunning Springtime Foil Specialty Designer Series Paper, one of the second release items in the Sale-a-bration brochure. You can earn it for free with any $90+ order!

Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper
* 12 sheets: 3 each of 4 single-sided designs
* In 3 colors: Gold foil, Rose Gold foil, Silver foil
* 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm)
* Acid free & Lignin free

I was inspired by Terri Gaines, a SU demonstrator in the USA who shared a video of this card and I fell in love with it straight away. It really showcases this DSP beautifully and who doesn’t love a gold butterfly, right?!!! What I also love about these papers, apart from the metallic shine, is that it is so thick; you can cut it to size, fold it in half and use it as your card base!

Springtime Foil SDSP Butterfly Stampin Up by Kate Morgan, Independent Demonstrator, Australia

I used the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets and applied it to the back of the gold foil sheet before die cutting the intricate butterfly. I also cut 2 solid butterflies from the Bold Butterflies framelits dies in Whisper White card. Score each of the butterflies down the centre and fold them in half. Watch Terri’s video to see how to put it all together. It’s much easier than trying to put it down in writing!

When you open the card, the butterfly pops through the slot and is actually adhered to the inside of the card!

Here it is opening:

and the card fully open:

I have used a sentiment from the Cake Soiree stamp set and inked it with Smoky Slate ink. I can see myself recreating this card using many different items to pop through the slot!

Stampin’ Up! OnStage Local event here in Melbourne!

Hello Friends,

On Saturday, I attended the Stampin’ Up! OnStage Local event here in Melbourne at the Melbourne Park Function Centre. We were lucky it was here in our home town and I was even more excited that four members of my team were able to join me!!! (Unfortunately, Amie wasn’t able to attend and we sure did miss her, and hopefully she may be able to make it to the next one).

Craftalicious.jpg

Here are the name tags that I made for each of us to wear on our lanyards. I made them using Photoshop Elements on the computer and printed them using our team floral logo. Then I die cut them using the Stitched Shapes framelits, mounted them onto a Melon Mambo circle (Layering Circle framelits) and then laminated them. Then I die cut them again (Layering Circle framelits). I added a small hole punch in the top and added the cords (purchased on ebay).

I also made these cute little boxes using some current and retired Stampin Up colours and DSPs. I actually asked on our team forum what their favourite colour is and went from there (aren’t I sneaky?!!!). The gift tags were made using the coordinating cardstock and the butterfly is from the Move Me thinlits.

and I bet you are wondering what was inside the box?!!! No, not chocolates… I would have eaten them all!!! lol

I actually purchased some bone folders and had them engraved with each of their names on it along with our team name, Team Craftalicious!

Aren’t they adorable???

For demonstrators who attend this event, it coincides with the release of the Occasions catalogue and Sale-a-bration brochure! So yes, I have a copy in my hot little hands but unfortunately I cannot share it with you just yet, but it won’t be long and you will see lots of new yummy products!

Eclipse card with Watercolour Wings

Hello Friends,

My project today is a card I made for my niece’s birthday a couple of weeks ago. Her favourite colours are aqua and pinks, so I’ve used Pool Party, Dapper Denim, Powder Pink and Sweet Sugarplum.

I’m not sure if you can see the Wink of Stella on the body of each butterfly, but it is so pretty in real life!

This was another card we did at my last class and the ladies thought it was so clever and so much easier to create than they imagined!

Favourite Retiring Products Blog Hop

art-with-heart-team-blog-hop-logo-currentDear Crafters,

Tonight I am participating in a blog hop along with the super talented ladies in the Art With Heart Team. We thought it would be fun to share some projects using our favourite retiring products from both the 2016-2017 annual and 2017 occasions catalogues!

Select retiring products have discounts of up to 50% off but are only available until sold out. Be sure to place orders before the sun sets on these items on 31 May. You don’t want to miss out – ask me how!

Blog Hops are full circles, so you can start hopping here and then at the end of each post is a link to the next one. There is also a list of participants at the end in case of any broken links. You have come to me from the talented, Rachel Palmieri!

Now let’s get started!

For my first project, I have used my favourite suite, Cupcakes and Carousels!

Carousel Birthday Card using Stampin Up Cupcakes & Carousel Birthday DSP, Up & Away thinlits by Kate Morgan, Independent Demonstrator Melbourne. #Occasions2017 3D

Oh how I love this Designer Series Paper. It is so bright and colourful and definitely in my colours that I really love to work with. Don’t the layers look wonderful?!

The carousel is gold embossed twice. The bottom layer was directly onto the square white card and the second was die cut with the circle die. Not sure if you can see that lovely gold shine?

The cupcakes are stamped and die cut and added with dimensionals.

I cased this from a card I saw browsing Pinterest by Crafty Little Peach.

My favourite products from the annual catalogue would have to be the Papillon Potpourri stamp set. This was the very first Stampin’ Up! stamp set that I purchased in my starter kit and has always been a favourite. I’m not sure I will ever be able to give it up!

In this card, I have also used the retiring Elegant Butterfly punch, Lovely Lace TIEF, the Subtles Designer Series Paper and the Very Vanilla 1/4″ Satin Ribbon.

and those gorgeous mini pearls… they won’t be around any more either, but don’t fear, the packs have been reconfigured and will return in a different format!

This card is the same design as the one above, however, I have used the retiring Happy Hearts TIEF (this really was one of my favs!).

Card in a Box

Dear Crafters,

Today I have a card in a box (sometimes known as explosion box card) which I was asked to make for a work colleague to give to a family friend for an 80th birthday!

It’s been a while since I have made one of these, but I do love them and I enjoyed making this one. I had to refer to my Free Tutorial for the measurements, it’s been so long!!!!

The brief was that she is a crafty person, who enjoys sewing. Well, I didn’t have anything along those lines, but what lady doesn’t love flowers and butterflies, right?!!!!

Butterflies, feminine, Stampin' Up!

Butterfly with Detailed Floral Wings

Dear Crafters,

Do you love butterflies like me? Yes? I find I am always drawn to butterflies for many different types of cards, from sympathy to birthday to Thanks or even just a Thinking of You card!

Blooms & Bliss Bold Butterfly Feminine handmade card #stampinup, DIY @cardsbykate

The card base is Rich Razzleberry with a layer of Very Vanilla embossed with the Fluttering textured impressions embossing folder. Each of these butterflies has a shimmer, which was added by brushing some Wink of Stella over each one.

The layered squares framelits were used to create the square layer and some lace trim added to the bottom of this layer before adding it to the card with dimensionals.

I die cut a piece of Blooms & Bliss Designer paper with the Bold Butterfly framelit.

I die cut the larger of the Detailed Floral Thinlits in Very Vanilla card, then placed the bold butterfly framelit over the top and die cut it. Leaving it in the framelit and not removing it just yet, I added small dobs of Tombo glue to the back and then placed the Designer Series Paper butterfly over it, easily lining it up using the edges of the framelit!

I added Wink of Stella to the Vanilla pattern on the butterfly.

Blooms & Bliss Bold Butterfly Feminine handmade card #stampinup DIY @cardsbykate

Tie some gold cording trim around the body of the butterfly and two small pieces for the antennae. I also tied a bow around the front of the trim, before adding it to the card with dimensionals.

I haven’t added a sentiment, because it really doesn’t need one, but it can then be used for any occasions!!!

Bloomin’ Butterfly

Dear Crafters,

Today I have a pretty use for the Bloomin’ Heart Framelit, without it being a heart!

Once I die cut the heart, I glued it onto some vellum and then used the  which also coordinates with the Bold Butterfly Framelits.

My colour scheme: Blushing Bride, Rose Red and Whisper White.

I have used the Love Blossoms DSP which is still available until the end of May and then it retires. It is a gorgeous pack (see below), be sure to add it to your order.

140548S

I added a banner of Rose Red cardstock with a sentiment stamped in the same colour. The Botantical Builder Framelits were used to die cut the flower, then I added Wink of Stella for a stunning shine!

The cording trim was wrapped around the centre of the butterfly and some silver sequins added for some extra bling!

Floral Wings

Dear Crafters,

Today I use the Hostess stamp set, Floral Wings which also coordinates with our Bold Butterfly Framelits.

I have no idea what this style is called, but I find it quite effective. I cut down a piece of Whisper White card by 5mm on each side. I stamped the butterfly image in the centre and then measured in the same distance from each side towards the centre and drew a line down, but not across the wings. I then cut out that centre portion leaving the butterfly intact.

My colour scheme: Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, Mint Macaron and Whisper White.

Butterflies Thinlits, Foral Wings,Feminine Handmade card, Farewell, Stampin Up

I then stamped the floral images along each edge and added the sentiment.

I embossed the base card with the Elegant Dots TIEF using the Big Shot machine, before adhering the stamped piece.

Butterfly Wings

Dear Crafters,

Today I have a pop through style card. I love butterflies and we have so many to choose from in our current range, but this one is stunning. It is a triple stamp, but it’s photopolymer, so it’s very easy to line them up.

I started with some Lost Lagoon card stock, folding it in half and the the front in half again, but back on itself. Then I die cut the large butterfly framelit but only to the scoreline, as I only wanted the first panel to be cut.

Then I stamped the butterfly two times and cut them out with the coordinating framelits. The first one, I glued to the 2nd panel so the left wing is free through the cut panel.

IMG_5576

You can see I have glued the second butterfly on the inside!

IMG_5578

The next step was to stamp the dots and with Lost Lagoon ink and add some Bermuda Bay sequins. Lastly, I added some Bermuda Bay Sequin trim and a Pool Party Glitter ribbon bow to the butterfly on the front of the card.

What do you think?
