Colour Creations Showcase – Misty Moonlight – Origami folding and a simple Triangle Christmas card

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 28 – Misty Moonlight

This is such a gorgeous rich blue and I think my favourite blue tone in the Stampin’ Up! colours. I am naturally drawn to blue, being my favourite colour!

Tonight I have two cards for you – the first being a card that I had a bit of fun learning to fold some of our Flowers for Every Season DSP in Origami. It isn’t perfect, but I will practice some more to get those nice clean, crisp folds.

This floral paper is perfect for this fold and I was happy with the final look. The sentiment is from the Seaside Notions stamp set.

I mounted it onto some white card to frame it on the Misty Moonlight woodgrain patterned paper from the In Color DSP Pack. How beautiful are those Beaded Pearl centres?!!  They finish it off nicely.

My next card is a simple Christmas card using the Snowflake Splendor DSP, Stitched Triangle dies and the Christmas Layers dies for the snowflakes.

The Copper Star Designer Elements on top of the trees add a touch of elegance.

Colour Creations Showcase – Mint Macaron – Faceted Gift Box

AWHT Colour Creations ShowcaseEach week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 27 – Mint Macaron

This is a really easy gift box to put together, even though it looks quite fancy!

It stands at 14cm tall x 13cm wide and can fit gift card, chocolates, jewellery – lots of different gifts for this Christmas.

It uses a full sheet of A4 cardstock with some scoring and minimal cutting to create the base.

The free template can be found over on my Tutorial page.

The Ornate Garden DSP is super elegant with the touch of gold foil swirls.

The Small Blooms punch was used to cut the gold foil and some Gilded Gems added to the centres.

The tag is cut with the Label Me Fancy punch and some Linen Thread tied through to attach it to the Mint Macaron ribbon at the top.

Colour Creations Showcase – Merry Merlot – Dove of Hope with Blended Background

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 26 – Merry Merlot

The Dove of Hope stamp set and coordinating Detailed Dove dies make gorgeous Christmas cards without too much effort.

Craft with Kate Colour Combination Merry Merlot Just Jade Whisper White

The card base is Merry Merlot, embossed with the Dainty Diamonds 3D TIEF. The Whisper White layer, I scored the border using the Simply Scored, at 1/8″ intervals. This is another great way to create borders without adding extra bulk to your card.

I used a Decorative Mask (oops, sorry this one is retired) but you can use any mask with Blending Brushes. Once I removed the mask, I found it a bit “in your face”, so I lightly brushed over it again to soften the look… much better! The sentiment is stamped in Merry Merlot before I added the dove.

Some Elegant Faceted Gems were added at the very end for a little bling.

Colour Creations Showcase – Melon Mambo No-line Watercolour Technique

AWHT Colour Creations ShowcaseEach week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 25 – Melon Mambo

For tonight’s card, I wanted to revisit the no-line watercolour technique, where you stamp the image (2nd generation) in Sahara Sand ink onto Watercolour paper.

This is definitely a technique that takes a lot of practice (for me anyway!) and you need to take your time to allow the colour to dry before adding more for a deeper effect. I used the Water Painters (without filling the barrel with water). I just have a glass of water next to me so the brush doesn’t get too wet as I work. I take the ink from the lid of the inkpad and apply with a light colour over the entire bloom, before going back over it in small sections, allowing to dry between layers.

From a distance, the poppy looks pretty good and I’m fairly happy with the outcome. I haven’t added a sentiment as yet, that will come when I figure out who this card will go to, hence why the image is not centred in the die cut frame. I will add the sentiment to the left later on!

The Scripty Embossing Folder gave my card a more old-worldly feel, as does the Scalloped Lace Trim. The die cut is popped up on dimensionals.

On the inside, I stamped the poppies across the bottom using the same technique. The sentiment is stamped in Sahara Sand ink 3 times using the Stamparatus, to get a nice dark colour.

Final Heart of Christmas for 2020

Heart of Christmas image

Welcome back to our final Heart of Christmas with the Art with Heart Team for 2020. Each month we have shared Christmas inspiration with you using current Stampin’ Up! products. Have you been inspired to make your Christmas cards & projects this year? It has been a good time while in lockdown due to COVID-19, to stay busy.

Tonight I have a fun Christmas card using the Warm and Toasty stamp set with the Snowflake Splendor DSP.

My card base is Purple Posy with the ribbon wrapped around the DSP panel. A separate bow is tied and glued at the top of the die cut (Tasteful Labels).

The little mice are stamped in Black Memento ink and coloured with Blends Markers; Pool Party, Ivory, Purple Posy. I added some Shimmery Chrystal Effects to the bauble. This die cut is popped up on dimensionals and the bow added.

Please head over to Judy’s blog to see the full list of participants in this month’s Heart of Christmas. We would love for you to visit each one and leave some comments if you feel inspired.

Colour Creations Showcase: Mango Melody is a Whisky Business

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 24 – Mango Melody

This is a super bright colour and not one I use a lot of, but I recently purchased this stamp set, Whiskey Business during the sale and wanted to ink it up!

I used the Misty Moonlight pages from the 2020–2022 In Color 6″ x 6″ (15.2cm x 15.2cm) Designer Series Paper pack and the In Good Taste DSP to create a bench for the images to sit on.

The images are stamped in Gray Granite on White card and coloured with the Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends Combo. They are fussy cut and added to the card on dimensionals. The ice cubes have Shimmery Crystal Effects added for texture. The sentiment is stamped in the Mango Melody ink on the same colour card and cut up then glued directly to the card.

On the inside I simply added off cuts of the DSP and stamped a simple sentiment.

Colour Creations Showcase: Magenta Madness for Sympathy and Christmas!

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 23 – Magenta Madness

The Flowers for Every Season patterned paper is so pretty, that you don’t even need to add much extra to a card to make it special. However, in this case, I’ve added a vase of flowers for a sympathy card for a work colleague who recently lost her dear mum. Even though she was in her 90s, the pain is still so raw.

This card is gorgeous and bright, and just what was needed for this occasion. I know lots of sympathy cards are not quite so cheery, but I love to keep them bright as though the departed spirit lives on.

The vase is stamped in Memento ink and coloured with So Saffron Stampin’ Blends (alcohol markers), then fussy cut. A beautiful ribbon bow is added.

The Forever Flourishing dies were used to cut some Just Jade foliage and the Magenta flowers are cut using the Small Blooms punch and an enamel dot in the centres.

The sentiment is stamped onto Magenta Madness card in the same colour ink and cut out with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. I used the thicker end of my Blends Marker to run it around the edges, rather than a sponge dauber. It’s easier to get into those little fancy ends!

I have also made a Christmas card with this bright paper pack – I cut a piece of DSP 15cm x 13cm, then cut it into 1cm strips. I took another piece of card 5mm smaller than the card front and added Stampin’ Seal around the edges and across the length. Starting at one end, I adhered the strips, offsetting each one. Once they were all on the card, I turned it over and trimmed off the edges.

This reindeer is so cute coloured with Stampin’ Blends Markers and Wink of Stella added to the bow and nose for some sparkle. The Gold Hoop has some ribbon tied around it and up over the top of the layered card. The bow was tied separately and added with a glue dot. The reindeer and sentiment are popped up on dimensionals.

Would you use the Flowers for Every Season patterned paper for your Christmas cards?

Week 22 – Just Jade

Tonight’s card is a real mish mash of products – In Good Taste DSP and Peony Garden DSP, which are both on sale in October, then I have the Free as a Bird Stamp Set and the Home Together dies from the Christmas range!

Colour Creations Showcase Just Jade using Stampin Up Free as a Bird by Kate Morgan, Australia 2020

When I saw this little house die, it reminded me of a bird feeder on a pole in the garden and so I paired it with the Free a a bird stamp. This image is coloured with Stampin’ Blends Markers.

Colour Creations Showcase Just Jade using Stampin Up Free as a Bird by Kate Morgan, Australia 2020.

I just love the dark wood of the In Good Taste DSP in the background and for the bird feeder. I initially had just the Jade embossed layer but added the piece from the Peony Garden DSP as well for some contrast. This is a real nature’s dream of a card!

CCS Week 21- Highland Heather is Warm and Toasty for Christmas

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Week 21 – Highland Heather

Have you placed your order for the 15% off patterned papers on sale this month? Tonight’s card is made with the Snowflake Splendor DSP which is on sale and guess who bought it? ME!!! And it is so pretty in real life, you have to see it to believe it.

I am a big fan of these colours together, so even though I don’t have any of the other products in the suite, I think it can still be used with many of our other products available, including this cute stamp set that popped into my order last month during the one day Mega stamp sale!

Here I have used the Sunburst Technique which I shared recently in our Monthly Creative Showcase with the Whale of a Time DSP, but wanted to use this paper, as every sheet is gorgeous on both sides and I needed to show it all. This uses only one piece of 6″ x 6″.

How did I create the Sunburst? Take a piece of 12cm x 12cm card and using a pencil draw these lines; corner to corner and in half both sides.

Cut a piece of 6″ x 6″ patterned paper in half and each of these in half again to be 3″ x 3″ squares. Measure two sides and mark the centre with a pencil. Cut from each of these marks to the far corner (as shown below). Repeat on other squares.

Now you will have this. Turn over every second piece to show the opposite side of the paper (you may need to move pieces around to fit. It’s best to do this before you stick them down to the card base.

Add Stampin’ Seal over each of the pencil lines on your backing card and around the edges. Start placing the pieces, lining up the straight lines of each quarter.

Once you finished, it may not look perfect, but flip it over and trim off the edges with scissors or your Trimmer.

Now you can glue this piece to your card front and add your embellishments, sentiment and stamped image.

This stamp set, Warm & Toasty has super cute images and they are perfect for colouring with our Stampin’ Blends Markers.

I enjoyed making this so much, I made a second one with the polar bear!

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 20 – Gray Granite

How pretty does this patterned paper look when coloured with the Pool Party Stampin’ Blends?!!!

This Designer Paper pack is on sale for the month of October saving you 15%, so make sure you add it to your next order!

01-10-20_DSP_SALE

The flower is stamped in Gray Granite ink and coloured with Petal Pink and Daffodil Delight Blends. The leaves I left uncoloured.

The sentiment is die cut in white and then I traced the outside of the die onto Gray Granite card and fussy cut it out to get that layered look and it really pops!

I added the gold hoop with some gold thread before placing the flower on top. I added the beautiful white bow and some rhinestones round the card for some extra sparkle.

The inside I coloured an offcut of the DSP with Pool Party and Petal Pink Blends to tie in with the front of the card.
