Fitting Florets meets Adorable Owls

Happy New Year everyone. I hope you have recovered from the festive season and are looking forward to a big 2023! With the excitement looming with the release of the new January – April Mini catalogue and Sale•a•bration (5 Jan-28 Feb) on 5 January, I thought I’d pop by and share some cute cards I’ve made using the Adorable Owls stamp set (Level 1 SAB offering).

The images are stamped in Black Memento ink on Basic White card and coloured with Pool Party, Pale Papaya, Light SU900 & Medium SU500 Combo Blends Markers. They are die cut with the Layering Circles Framelits dies and the scallop circle layer is cut in card.

Fitting Florets meet Adorable Owl by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia SAB 2023.

The Fitting Florets DSP which I’ve used in the background, will be retiring tomorrow, so if you need it (like I did), you’ll need to get moving and place your order 😆  I adore this particular sheet with the Night of Navy and Polished Pink design. I cut a Basic White layer slightly smaller than the card front, then the DSP slightly smaller again. I cut 4cm off the bottom of the DSP and flipped it over to have the reverse pattern showing. Glue these to the white layer then wrap a piece of Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon around and across where the DSP joins. Now it can be glued to the card base.

Sneak Peek of Two-Tone Flora Bundle

Today, I have created a predominantly Basic White card with a gorgeous pop of colour.

The gorgeous background is a large intricate die that I put Adhesive Sheet on the back of the Basic White card before die cutting. This then creates a sticky back once you remove the backing paper instead of using glue and making a big mess. This is adhered to the card base like a sticker.

Next step was to ink up some of the flowers and I decided to do a tone on tone for each one. The darker tone is the colour at full strength, then the lighter tone is stamped off once or some call it second generation stamping. Colour Combination Old Olive Bermuda Bay Daffodil Delight Fresh Freesia Orchid Oasis Pumpkin Pie Polished Pink

Each flower and the leaves have coordinating dies, so no fussy cutting needed. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive ink. Four of the flowers are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and the others glued directly to the card.

The sentiment is stamped in Old Olive ink using the Framed Florets stamp set, then fussy cut with Paper Snips. Some Wink of Stella was added to the centres of each flower. Some new gold Adhesive-backed Sequin embellishments were added to finish it off nicely. All of these stamps, dies, sequins will be available to order from 5 January 2023, or now if you are a demonstrator, or add them to your starter kit and join to save on all your craft products!

Week 33 – Old Olive

This is our final Colour Creations blog hop for 2022, but I hope you will join us again on 4 January 2023 when we return!

Today, I have used the Cottage Rose Bundle with the coordinating Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper. I have gone with some neutrals in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso with Old Olive. All of the feature images are stamped and die cut from Crumb Cake card. The sentiment and main floral image are stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and heat set. I really like using the “Best Wishes” sentiment, as it can be for many occasions; birthday, sympathy, farewell, wedding, etc.

Best Wishes card using Stampin Up Cottage Rose Bundle by Kate Morgan, Australia 2022

I used my Dark Crumb Cake Blends Marker around the edges of the main image so it really stands out! I used a sponge dauber to add Early Espresso ink around the sentiment which is cut using the Double Oval Punch as well as on the tips of the die cut flowers behind the focal image.

The card base is Old Olive. The next layer is a piece of the DSP cut with the largest die in the Stitched Rectangle dies, then I coloured the leaves with the Light Old Olive Blends Marker. I took a Blending Brush and added ink across the whole DSP piece. I inked one side of the Merry Melody 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with Early Espresso, placed the DSP inside and ran it through my Emboss machine. Then I used the dauber to add ink around the edges before gluing to the card base. Some printed Vellum Layering Designs was added to soften the background.

A Silver piece of Simply Elegant Trim was pulled apart to separate all the fibres. This was something that Shelli Gardner (cofounder of Stampin’ Up!) shared with us during our recent demonstrator only event and it’s such a neat trick!

It is really hard to photograph, but you can just see the Wink of Stella on the petals of the largest flower.

Week 28 – Melon Mambo

The excitement is really growing now, as I am heading to Sydney on Friday to see all my SU friends at our OnStage event for demonstrators. This is the first time for 3 years (thanks Covid) that we will be able to be there in person, yippee. There’s nothing like getting together in a huge room with 500 fellow crafters – can you imagine the hype?!!!

Anyway, more about that next week, but for now we need to focus our minds on Melon Mambo.

The Sending Smiles Bundle is a beauty. The flowers are stamped with the aid of the Stamparatus, in Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry inks. The leaves are Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. Using a Sponge Dauber to add the Rich Razzleberry ink to the edges of the flowers as the final step, gives it a lovely tone. The same was done with the leaves and the Evening Evergreen ink.

The white stamped layer is die cut using the Deckled Rectangle dies. This is adhered to a Gold Brushed Metallic Stitched Rectangle die and this glued onto a Melon Mambo layer on the dramatic, Basic Black card base.

The ‘thanks’ is die cut in Basic Black card and Gold Brushed Metallic cardstock. Before die cutting the Gold, I remembered to add Adhesive Sheet so it can be adhered like a sticker to the black layer. This is glued to the card. Some Glossy Dots Assortment were added at the end.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you can join me next week for inspiration using Merry Merlot.

Please hop across to our next participant and enjoy the wonderful inspiration of Rachel Palmieri.

Week 17 – Daffodil Delight

At first, I was going to use the Daffodil Daydream stamp set, but I wanted to challenge myself a little more by using the Vintage Bottle Punch with the Effervescent Elements inside the Vintage Bottle Shaker Dome.

So here is my card…

Shaker Card using Pansy Patch and Vintge Bottle by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

A Daffodil Delight card base with a layer of Basic White and then some patterned paper, from the  Wonderful World Bundle that is one of the Sale•a•bration offerings with a $180+ product order until 31 August or while stocks last!

159918

The Vintage Bottle Punch was used to punch this patterned paper ready to insert the dome. Before gluing any of the layers, I stamped a couple of the stems in Soft Succulent ink onto the white card layer so it looks like they are in the bottle. Next I stamped all the images using the following inks; Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Orchid Oasis, Starry Sky, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen before die cutting them with the coordinating dies. Once I worked out the placement, I glued the leaves and stems in place and added 3 of the flowers with Dimensionals. Now was the scary part, trying to put those Effervescent Elements into the dome without spilling them 😉 You may notice a slight blue tinge to the dome – I actually coloured the inside of it with the Dark Pool Party Stampin Blends Marker!

The sentiment is stamped onto one of the Tailor Made Tags dies in Soft Succulent ink and threaded through some Linen Thread. I tied some Soft Succulent Satin Ribbon in a bow and added it to the top of the bottle with two Glue Dots. I finished it off with some Brushed Brass Butterflies.

On the inside I added a white layer with a small strip of Daffodil Delight cardstock to the bottom edge and added another stem and flower.

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 12 – Calypso Coral

Tonight’s card is using the Happiness Abounds Bundle as the focal point, with the Charming Sentiments Bundle and the Pretty Prints Designer Series Paper. I started with a piece of Pretty Prints DSP and cut a 1″ strip off the left side. This was flipped over and both pieces glued onto a scrap piece of white card. I ran this through the Stampin Cut & Emboss machine with the Fern 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I added a strip of Gold Shimmer Ribbon down the join of the Patterned paper and secured the ends on the back. I punched each corner with the Very Best Trio Punch before gluing it to a Basic Black card base. (Oops, look at those punched corners… they are not identical. Apparently we need to turn one side upside down to punch to get the same result). I must remember that for next time as I didn’t even notice until someone pointed it out to me!

Next, I stamped the flowers and leaves in Memento ink and cut them out with the coordinating dies. These are coloured with Blends Combo Markers; Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron & Petal Pink. I added some Wink of Stella to the centres but unfortunately it is really hard to photograph. The flowers and leaves are added to the card with Tombo Multipurpose Glue and Dimensionals.

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and melted the powder using the Heat Tool. The coordinating Sentiment Silhouettes dies cut out the sentiment and this was added with a Black Dimensional.

I tied a Gold Ribbon bow and added it with Glue Dots and finished off with a few Brushed Brass Butterflies.

On the inside I placed a strip of DSP down the side of the White insert and some leaves.

Tonight I have a feminine floral card using the Wonderful World DSP (part of the Saleabration Free item with a qualifying order). The Basic White layer is die cut with the Split Textures die and a piece of the DSP placed behind it. Some Soft Sea Foam Seam Binding Ribbon is wrapped around and tied in a bow on the front. This is glued to the Blushing Bride card base. Using Paper Snips, fussy cut the floral arrangement from a piece of the patterned paper and add it with dimensionals.

Week 4 – Sweet Sorbet

Tonight we showcase our fourth of the new 2022-2024 In Colors, Sweet Sorbet!

This colour reminds me a bit of a retired colour, Strawberry Slush (2013-2015 In Color) although this is slightly darker. I have used Sweet Sorbet with Parakeet Party, another new in Color this year. The Bottled Happiness Bundle (Bottled Happiness stamp set and coordinating Vintage Bottle punch) features on my card, along with two designs from the In Color Designer Series Paper 6×6 Pack.

Soft Suede Blog Hop ~ Two different techniques using the Stamparatus!

CCS Logo 2021-22

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 46 – Soft Suede

Tonight I have two cards for you, both using the Stamparatus to show you how wonderful this product is and if you like things perfect, this is the tool for you!

Card 1 – is a masculine card using For The Record stamp set. My card base is Basic Black with a layer of Soft Suede which has two sentiments stamped down the right side using the Stamparatus and the hinged stamping technique. This means you stamp once, move the acrylic plate down one notch and stamp again and repeat to have a uniform pattern. I stamped these in Soft Suede and Memento Black inks.

For the Record Masculine card for Soft Suede Colour Creations blog hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022.

The record image is stamped in Versamark Ink onto Basic Black card. I added Clear Emboss Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.  I cut it out using the Layering Circles dies. I added a few Dimensionals to the back of the record but didn’t take off the Dimensional backings. Leave them on so the record spins. I pierced a hole through the centre of the record and the Suede layer using the Take Your Pick Tool and added a brad, gently closing it at the back. These layers are added to the card base with Dimensionals. Now the record spins!!!

The heart is Real Red card and cut using the Give It a Whirl dies and added to the brad with a glue dot.

For the Record Masculine card for Soft Suede Colour Creations blog hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

On the inside, I placed a Basic White card insert and partially stamped the record three times across the bottom in Soft Suede ink.

Card 2 – uses the Nothing’s Better Than stamp set and coordinating Love You More Than dies.

My card base is Thick Basic White with layers of Soft Suede and Symbols of Fortune Specialty DSP. The stamped top layer is created using the Stamparatus and the Wreath Builder technique or Stamping in the Round (SITR) technique. The cookie outline is Soft Suede ink and the solid fill image is Crumb Cake ink. It reminds me of a plate of cookies sitting on a marble benchtop 🙂

Nothing's better than SITR card for Soft Suede Colour Creations blog hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

You can see the die cut word ‘cookies’ has a 3D raised look – I applied an Adhesive Foam Sheet to the back of the Soft Suede layer and die cut this word in the centre, before gluing the white stamped layer on top to cover it up! This also gave this top section some extra depth.
