2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 12 – Calypso Coral

Tonight’s card is using the Happiness Abounds Bundle as the focal point, with the Charming Sentiments Bundle and the Pretty Prints Designer Series Paper. I started with a piece of Pretty Prints DSP and cut a 1″ strip off the left side. This was flipped over and both pieces glued onto a scrap piece of white card. I ran this through the Stampin Cut & Emboss machine with the Fern 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I added a strip of Gold Shimmer Ribbon down the join of the Patterned paper and secured the ends on the back. I punched each corner with the Very Best Trio Punch before gluing it to a Basic Black card base. (Oops, look at those punched corners… they are not identical. Apparently we need to turn one side upside down to punch to get the same result). I must remember that for next time as I didn’t even notice until someone pointed it out to me!

Next, I stamped the flowers and leaves in Memento ink and cut them out with the coordinating dies. These are coloured with Blends Combo Markers; Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron & Petal Pink. I added some Wink of Stella to the centres but unfortunately it is really hard to photograph. The flowers and leaves are added to the card with Tombo Multipurpose Glue and Dimensionals.

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and melted the powder using the Heat Tool. The coordinating Sentiment Silhouettes dies cut out the sentiment and this was added with a Black Dimensional.

I tied a Gold Ribbon bow and added it with Glue Dots and finished off with a few Brushed Brass Butterflies.

On the inside I placed a strip of DSP down the side of the White insert and some leaves.

  1. Such a lovely card Kate and your colouring is beautiful. To be perfectly honest I hadn’t noticed the corners until I read what you said.

  2. Lovely card Kate, I haven’t found the courage to use the punch since I found out there was a’degree of difficulty’, so I really admire your efforts, which look totally intentional. The panel is a perfect background for stunning flowers.

  3. Oh Kate – your card is so beautiful. I love the colouring of the flowers. A delightful colour combo and the touches of gold ribbon and butterflies are perfect. The added embossing texture is lovely. I thought you had intended to have the punched corners as they are. It looks wonderful.

  6. This card is a beauty, Kate! I love how bold and gorgeous Calypso Coral looks with black, and gold. Your colouring of the flowers and leaves is fabulous, the embossed side panel is just so pretty, and I love the bold print on the background paper. So beautifully put together. x

  7. Kate, I think you should claim the Very Best Trio punched corners as a deliberate design decision because your card is stunning! Love the variation in colour on the flowers, all the texture and the touches of gold.
