Tonight I have a Christmas card and ornament to share with you. I love this Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper and it makes the most gorgeous decorations to hang on your tree this festive season. This paper is part of the 15% off sale on right now!

01-10-20_DSP_SALE

Here is my card predominantly using the DSP with very little stamping; in fact the car and the wreath on the house are the only stamped images.

To go with my card is this Shaker Ornament using the same suite

Using 3 sizes of circle dies, you will need to cut the following pieces;
Largest die: Blue base (pictured with ribbon), the blue ring (top piece), Foam Sheet, DSP
Middle die: Foam sheet & Window Sheet
Smallest die: cut the centre of the top piece & cut the centre of the foam sheet

Glue the ribbon to the base piece (shown above) then glue the DSP circle over the top. I cut out some of the trees and house from another piece of the DSP and glued these on, along with a stamped sentiment.

Glue the window sheet onto the blue ring

Place the foam circle on top of the window sheet.

Add some tiny clear beads to the centre of the ornament and very carefully place the above piece on top.

Then tie a bow and add it to the top to finish it off.

Have I inspired you to make some decorations for your tree this Christmas?

Please head over to Judy’s blog for all participants in this month’s Heart of Christmas!

Mary Poppin’s Style Bag

I was watching a YouTube tutorial recently by Julie Di Matteo who made this cute Mary Poppin’s inspired bag using a 6″ x 6″ piece of DSP.

Mini Mary Poppins Bag using Stampin Up Peony Garden DSP by Kate Morgan, Australia 2020

It was tiny, so I wanted to try it using a full sheet of 12″ x 12″ Ornate Garden DSP and I was so happy with the result!

I love the Bumblebee cardstock for the handle and closure, and these Beaded Pearls added an extra touch of glamour. I used a velcro dot for the closure under the pearls, as I couldn’t find my magnets anywhere in my craft room!

To create a 12 x 12 bag, use the same process but the score lines are 4¼” & 7¾”.

Week 20 – Gray Granite

How pretty does this patterned paper look when coloured with the Pool Party Stampin’ Blends?!!!

This Designer Paper pack is on sale for the month of October saving you 15%, so make sure you add it to your next order!

The flower is stamped in Gray Granite ink and coloured with Petal Pink and Daffodil Delight Blends. The leaves I left uncoloured.

The sentiment is die cut in white and then I traced the outside of the die onto Gray Granite card and fussy cut it out to get that layered look and it really pops!

I added the gold hoop with some gold thread before placing the flower on top. I added the beautiful white bow and some rhinestones round the card for some extra sparkle.

The inside I coloured an offcut of the DSP with Pool Party and Petal Pink Blends to tie in with the front of the card.

Most Wonderful Time in the Pine Woods

The Most Wonderful Time Product Medley is fantastic value, especially if you are just starting out on your stamping journey or just need everything coordinating with one product code to order! You get the card, designer paper, Embellishments, stickers, dies and stamp set!

For my card today, I have used the pretty deer paper with the gold foil accents as my base.

The Pine Woods dies are so pretty too and I’ve used them today on this card, but you could just use the ones in the medley!

The banner I created myself with the Triple Banner Punch for the ends and I just score 2 lines either side of the sentiment, ¼” apart. I did stamp the sentiment first, then created the folds and added a dimensional behind the sentiment so it sat up. The gold stars are also part of the Medley!

Coming Home with Stamping in the Round (SITR)

Here I am back with another SITR card with a Christmas theme – the Coming Home stamp set and coordinating Trimming the Town Designer Paper is just beautiful. This Designer Paper pack is on sale for the month of October saving you 15%, so make sure you add it to your next order!

Using the Stamparatus, and a template I created myself, I placed the 4″ x 4″ piece of white card on top of the template. Starting with the house image, stamp it once, rotate the card 90o, stamp again and repeat the process. The I placed the tree and the stars in position and repeated the process.

Stampin Up Coming Home & Trimming the Town DSP by Kate Morgan, Australia 2020

Once all the stamping is done, I then coloured the images with Stampin’ Blends Markers.

The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Greetings stamp set and cut out with the 1½” circle punch and layered onto a Misty Moonlight die cut from the Tasteful Labels dies.

Monthly Creative Showcase featuring DSP

AWHT Creative Showcase

Monthly Creative Showcase: Designer Series Paper

Tonight I have a couple of projects for you using patterned papers – this first one uses the gorgeous Whale of a Time 6″ x 6″ papers.

My Pacific Point card base is 21cm x 14.8cm, scored at 5.3cm & 10.5cm (landscape)

The DSP is 10.3cm x 14.5cm & 4.8cm x 14.5cm. The Whisper White piece is also 4.8cm x 14.5cm. The 2″ and 2¼” circle punches are used for the feature on the front.

This particular pattern reminds me of the scene in the movie Finding Nemo where the turtles ride the East Australian current. Oh, I love that movie 🥰

The 1cm Pool Party Sheer Ribbon is wrapped around the front panel and glued behind the circle. The stamping inside is Bumblebee for the fish and Pacific Point for the sentiment.

My next card is a square card (12.5cm x 12.5cm) and I have used the sunburst technique. This is a wonderful way to show both sides of the lovely designer papers, because sometimes both sides are adorable and I can’t choose which to use – so why not show both!

I cut another piece of card to measure 12cm x 12cm and using a pencil, draw lines from corner to corner and side to side as shown.

Sunburst Technique using Stampin Up Whale of a Time DSP by Kate Morgan Australia 2020 How to.

Take 2 pieces of 6″ x 6″ designer paper and cut them into 3″ x 3″ squares. Take one and mark the centre on two sides – here I have used a chalk marker so you can see it. Place it in your trimmer lining up one of the marks at the top and the point at the bottom also in the track and cut. Then rotate the next mark to the top and cut down to the same corner. You’ll be left with 2 triangles and a kite shaped piece.  Repeat this on 3 other squares.

Sunburst Technique using Stampin Up Whale of a Time DSP by Kate Morgan Australia 2020 How to

Add Stampin’ Seal around the edges and down each of the pencil lines of your card. Start in one corner and place the pieces of DSP with the kite shape in the centre and alternate your patterns.

Here are those same turtles as in the card above, featured in the centre of this card. This time I added some Just Jade ribbon between the two circles.

CCS – Poppies in a Granny Apple Green Glow

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Week 19 – Granny Apple Green

I’m really pleased with how my background turned out on this card – Granny Apple Green is not really my go to colour, it’s a little bright – but I think it really makes these poppies pop!!!

The background is sponged darker from the outer edges and lighter into the centre. Once I had the right amount of ink applied, I dripped some water droplets onto the card and sat it aside to dry.

I die cut the poppy layers in Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo and Basic Black. The Blushing Bride layers I embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.

The leaves are die cut in Granny Apple Green and embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder. I also stamped some of the leaves as well, along with those little star type images from the Pattern Play stamp set. The sentiment (Itty Bitty Greetings) is stamped multiple times to get that lovely dark colour using the Stamparatus.

The poppies are glued together and then two glued to the card front and the last one has some dimensionals under it.

Christmas, Designer/Patterned/Specialty Papers (DSP), Handmade Cards, Stampin' Up!

Traditional Christmas card to Cherish the Season

Today’s Christmas card is an easy one to create and make multiples of during the silly season!

The card base is Thick Whisper White (although you cannot see it) as I have placed a piece of Gold Foil over the entire card front. The Plaid Tidings DSP is the next layer, a lovely piece for Christmas. This Designer Paper pack is on sale for the month of October saving you 15%, so make sure you add it to your next order!

I have stamped these bells in Versamark Ink onto Cherry Cobbler card, added Gold Emboss Powder and heat set it. The same process for the sentiment, although I fussy cut this one. I die cut the Cherry Cobbler card with the Nested Stitched Labels dies and cut one end off before adhering to the card.

The foliage is die cut from Just Jade card and glued above the bells. I tied some of the gold thread in a bow and added this at the very end with glue to allow it to dry. I find that the Multipurpose Glue is the strongest adhesive to hold this thread.

This bundle is $12AUD worldwide or free with a minimum $50 order from me in October 2020 (Australia only).

Scenes under the Sea

Here is another Whale of a Time Suite card which is very simple, just adding a couple of elements.

My card base is Balmy Blue with a piece of the designer paper creating the backdrop. This paper pack is on sale for the month of October saving you 15%, so make sure you add it to your next order!

The whale is punched from another sheet of DSP with the Whale Builder Punch and popped up on dimensionals.

The Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper is added above the whale spout and also some of the seaweed at the bottom. It just reminds me of looking down into a clear blue ocean with the element of shine and sparkle the water gives. I used the Forever Flourishing dies for these – who would have thought!!

This is such a simple card but this DSP creates the scene for you!

CCS – Gorgeous Grape creates beautiful Lavender

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Week 18 – Gorgeous Grape

This week I thought that Gorgeous Grape reminded me of lavender so I decided that this lovely lady was walking through a field of lavender.

I sponged the background starting at the top with Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz towards the bottom for the grass, leaving it softer in the centre.

Then I placed a drop of Frost White Shimmer Paint onto a Clear Block and using the Water Painter, added some water and gently flicked it over the card. You can see the paint splatters. I didn’t want to colour her dress, but I did use the left over paint on the Water Painter to add some shine to her white dress.

Next I stamped the images in Black Stazon Ink. The flowers are coloured using a Blender Pen with the Gorgeous Grape Inkpad. The lady image is cut out and her hair and arms are coloured with Ivory and Bronze Stampin’ Blends. She is popped up on dimensionals. This layer is matted onto Gorgeous Grape card and placed in the centre of the square white card base.

Isn’t it such a peaceful and inviting scene? What we wouldn’t give to be out of isolation, walking through a field of flowers!!!

Oh, and don’t forget to stamp the inside of the card and the envelope!
