Monthly Creative Showcase: Mother’s Day

AWHT Creative Showcase

For tonight’s showcase, we are featuring Mother’s Day which is celebrated in Australia on 9th May!

Mother's Day card for Monthly Showcase, Stampin Up by Kate Morgan, Australia 2021

A Gorgeous Grape card base with some of the Hydrangea Hill DSP was the perfect start for my Mother’s Day card. I remember having Hydrangea’s in our garden growing up and these colours remind me of mum!

Gorgeous Grape Purple Posy Basic White

I stamped off the hydrangea image from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set (unfortunately it has sold out since I made this card) before stamping it onto Basic White card. Then I die cut the panel and used the stylus (from the Simply Scored) around the edges on the back while it was still in the die. This gives that beautiful embossed edge. Stamp the ‘you’ in the same ink at full strength. The butterflies are from the Floating & Fluttering Bundle and die cut in Purple Posy card. The Forever & Always Bundle has the dies to create the ‘love’ which is popped up on Black Dimensionals.

On the inside I added a 1″ strip of DSP down the side and some basic white card to write my message. I stamped the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape and added some Purple Posy die cut flowers.

The Butterfly Gems are on the retirement list and at a reduced price, so be quick if you want them!

Monthly Creative Showcase: Sketch challenge

AWHT Creative Showcase

For tonight’s showcase, we were given a card sketch as a starting point for inspiration. This is something that I really struggle with, but really wanted to challenge myself to have a go at.

Sketch Challenge

This card is for my Father-in-law birthday so I started with the Well Suited DSP. I chose Pacific Point as my card base and then layered two patterns of the DSP, joining them under the Seaside Spray Scallop Ribbon Trim. The stitched triangles are embossed using the Scripty 3D, Tasteful Textile 3D & Hammered Metal 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folders. The Happy Birthday (Sweet Ice Cream stamp set) is stamped in Night of Navy ink, fussy cut with Paper Snips then added with Dimensionals.

Thanks to Ros Davidson, I had a go at making some of my own Faux Resin Dots. Using a standard hole punch, I punched some cardstock, placed them onto the Silicone Mat and added some Fine Tip Glue piled up on top. Allow them to dry fully (a few hours), before adding them to your card with a glue dot.

On the inside, I added an offcut of the DSP and stamped the sentiments with Night of Navy ink and the stars with Pacific Point ink.

Monthly Creative Showcase: Forever and Always

AWHT Creative Showcase

Tonight’s card is using the Forever & Always Bundle and the coordinating Specialty Paper, Love You Always.

I love using black as a background, giving such a dramatic effect with the bright images and layers and the white square scalloped frame, really pops. The Subtle 3D Embossing Folder adds a soft touch of texture.

Inking up a sponge dauber with Magenta Madness, I started in the centre of each flower and swiped the dauber to the outer edge of the petals to get that brushed look. Doesn’t it look amazing?!!!

The centres are sponged with Bumblebee ink and the leaves stamped in Just Jade.

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with White Emboss Powder.

I stamped some extra flowers and leaves and added them to the inside of the card.

Monthly Creative Showcase: Art Gallery with Gilded Leafing

AWHT Creative Showcase

Tonight’s card is simply stunning with the addition of the gold gilded leafing – WOW, this stuff is just to die for!!!

The Art Gallery Bundle has this gorgeous two step stamped flower which I have inked in Pool Party and then the second layer is stamped in Versamark. Add Heat and Stick Powder, shake off the excess, then heat it with a Heat Tool. This melts the powder so you can then add some of the Gilded Leafing flakes. I use my finger to rub it around over all the sticky powder. I find this the most effective way of adding it efficiently. A little tip with the Gilded Leafing – do not use when you have a fan on, the windows open if it’s breezy outside or it you are about to sneeze. Ask me how I know, LOL. It is so light, it flies everywhere!!!

The sentiment is from the Many Messages Bundle – a wonderful stamp set (all sentiments on 1 stamp) and the die cuts out each one individually in one pass on the Cut & Emboss Machine! Use your Stamparatus to ink up the stamp for a perfect impression.

Summer Theme for our final Monthly Creative Showcase 2020

AWHT Creative Showcase

Monthly Creative Showcase: Summer Theme

Tonight’s card is based on what Summer time means to me – hot days, school holidays, lazy days at home and boy, am I looking forward to the end of the school year!!!

This card is a bit of a mix of Melbourne and our holiday to Hanuama Bay, Hawaii, where we snorkelled with turtles!

The bright beach boxes are a true Melbourne icon and I have made mine in Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point and Real Red. The sand is So Saffron card as my base, with the wave patterned paper glued at the bottom and the top section is Shaded Spruce with Coastal Cabana behind for the palm trees. This was cut using the Friendly Silhouette dies.

That little turtle is cut out of the Whale of a Time DSP and the waves are also part of this paper stack. The Whale of a Time Sequins & shells are added with a glue dot.

While in isolation, it has been wonderful to have our travel memories, and to dream of one day going on another fantastic holiday.
