Masking Technique with Superman!

Dear Crafters,

Following all the excitement of OnStage, today I am sharing a card that we made at my Masculine class last week.

Masking Technique using Stampin Ups Everyday Hero Superman Masculine card by Kate Morgan Independent Demonstrator Australia

I love the buildings in this stamp set, but having just the one layer of buildings, just didn’t seem to do my card justice, so I added many layers using the masking technique!

Most of the ladies just looked at me as though, “you have to be kidding”, when I showed them what we were about to make, especially with the fussy cutting around the character, but I think they actually were very impressed with their final works!

What do you think of this card?

Beautiful You in Delicate Details

Dear Crafters,

First of all, I want to wish my mother in law, Bev a very happy 70th birthday today. We all hope you have an amazing day and look forward to celebrating it with you at Easter time!!!

Today I have another card using the Delicate Details stamp set coordinated with the Beautiful You stamp set.

beautiful-you-in-delicate-details-by-kate-morgan-independent-demonstrator-australia-occasions2017-paper-piecing-technique-1

I love how you can manipulate the photopolymer stamps, by bending them into a different position on the clear blocks to create a different look. Here I have taken the straight lace border and curved it onto the block. I used clear Versamark ink and sprinkled it with gold embossing powder before heat setting it.

beautiful-you-in-delicate-details-by-kate-morgan-independent-demonstrator-australia-occasions2017-paper-piecing-technique-2

The female image was stamped twice, the second onto designer series paper which I fussy cut and glued on top of the first image. This is called Paper Piecing. I die cut the image using the oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits and added it with dimensionals.

Carousel Birthday Spinner Card with Glimmer

Dear Crafters,

Today I sharing a sneak peek of 1 of the 3 new Sale-a-bration items that will be available from tomorrow!

I just adore this Carousel Birthday suite with the coordinating Designer Series paper. The sentiment is from the Suite Sentiment stamp set, and is such a fun font for this card.

carousel-birthday-spinner-card-by-kate-morgan-stampin-up-demonstrator-australia-occasions2017-full

I love this ferris wheel, but I felt that it needed to be spinning around, so I used the Layering Circle Framelits to die cut the wheel and make it into a spinner card using a brad in the centre.

carousel-birthday-spinner-card-by-kate-morgan-stampin-up-demonstrator-australia-occasions2017-3

This set also coordinates with the Up & Away Thinlits, so I was able to die cut the glimmer paper easily. In the glimmer paper pack, you get 12 sheets of 6″ x 6″ in 3 colours; Bermud Bay, Sweet Sugarplum & Mint Macaron.

Paper Piecing

Dear Crafters,

Today I have created a card using the Paper Piecing Technique, not to be confused with the Paper Piercing Technique!

paper-piecing-technique-using-stampin-ups-youve-got-this-blooms-bliss-dsp-by-kate-morgan-independent-demonstrator-melbourne-front

This technique is quite easy, but you need to like fussy cutting!!!!

I stamped the floral image onto the chosen Designer Series Paper and then fussy cut out the flowers petals with Paper Snips. I did the same for the leaves, but onto a different designer paper.

paper-piecing-technique-using-stampin-ups-youve-got-this-blooms-bliss-dsp-by-kate-morgan-independent-demonstrator-melbourne-flat-close

Stamp the image again (stem) onto your Very Vanilla card and then glue the fussy cut pieces over the top.

I added the cute little ribbon bow, using some of the metallic ribbon that I got for FREE during Saleabration when I placed a $90 order!!!

What do you think of this striking project?

Window Box Ribbon Dispenser

Dear Crafters,

Today I have used the Window Box Framelits to create a Ribbon Dispenser.

I posted this on one of our private Stampin’ Up! Facebook Forums, and the response I got was enormous (over 1.3k likes) and so many requests for a tutorial on how I made it.

I love the detail on each end and you can decorate it with any Designer Series Paper!!!

I have attempted doing a written tutorial for this, but please let me know if you find it hard to follow, as I didn’t write down instructions when I was creating this the first time! You can download the PDF tutorial by clicking here window-box-thinlits-ribbon-dispenser-by-craft-with-kate.

Shaker & Slider Card

Dear Crafters,

Today I have joined the very 1st Colour INKspiration Challenge!

15873544_10207165624893894_525200285262560348_n

These colours are so delicious I used every single one of them in my interactive card today!

I’ve used the cute Tasty Trucks stamp set (Sale-a-bration freebie) along with the Balloon Adventures and Day at the Beach stamp sets.

Yes there is a lot going on in this card!!!!

I have used the image from the colour challenge and created some cute little shrinky dink icypoles and put them up in the sun to create the shaker card. And who can go past some Wink of Stella to make the sun sparkle!!!!

Oh, and check out the slider part. Pull the orange tab and the truck moves along!

I used my blender pen with inks to colour the truck on Watercolour paper.

Beautiful in Blue

Dear Crafters,

Today I have another card using the Beautiful You stamp set but I’ve added another crafty tool to this one and I think I’ve done okay!!!

feminine-card-using-stampin-ups-floral-boutique-dsp-beautiful-you-stamp-set-by-kate-morgan-independent-demonstrator-occasions-2017

I love this Designer Series paper and wanted to see how well it went with this stamp set, and I reckon it goes really well, and check out my stitching… yes, I pulled out the old trusty sewing machine and put in some navy thread and added some sewing to my card!!!

What do you think of this project?

Will you pull out your sewing machine and give this a go?

Watercolour Dragonflies

Dear Crafters,

Today I share another sneak peek of the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle, but this time using the emboss resist technique.

dragonfly-dreams-card-using-stampin-up-dragonfly-dreams-bundle-by-kate-morgan-stampin-up-demonstrator-classes-available-in-rowville-stampinup-craftwithkatemorgan

I love how simple but effective this technique is!

Begin by stamping the images in Versamark ink, then add clear embossing powder and heat set.

dragonfly-dreams-card-using-stampin-ups-dragonfly-dreams-bundle-by-kate-morgan-stampin-up-demonstrator-classes-available-in-rowville-stampinup-craftwithkatemorgan

Using the AquaPainter and ink, brush on the colour blending the two together in the centre. I’ve used Calypso Coral and Marina Mist.

dragonfly-dreams-using-stampin-ups-dragonfly-dreams-bundle-by-kate-morgan-stampin-up-demonstrator-classes-available-in-rowville-stampinup-craftwithkatemorgan

To get those dots, I dropped tiny amounts of water from the AquaPainter, let it sit for a minute or two, then dabbed off with some paper towel. This lifts the colour already added.

I also added a vellum dragonfly and some pearls to the body.

What do you think of this card?

Magic Slider Card

Dear Crafters,

Today I have a card using the Magic Slider Technique. Now there are loads of videos on YouTube to recreate these types of cards, and this is my first attempt at it.

I am using the stamp set, Bella & Friends.

Colours used are: Bermuda Bay, Gold Glimmer and Whisper White

As you pull the tab at the top, watch the magic happen!

Don’t you love the magic? Kids will be super impressed and have a ball watching the image change from black & white to colour!

Why don’t you give this technique a go? It looks super tricky, but once you have a go, you’ll be sure to want to create more of them.

Ice-cream with a cherry on top!

Dear Crafters,

Oh, what a messy technique, but the outcome has such a variation and you can get so many designs from one go!

The Shaving Cream technique is one that I do not use regularly but it was part of a challenge for some swaps in our team and I didn’t want to waste the extra pieces that I printed, so I came up with another card to share with you, using the Sprinkles of Life stamp set and Tree Builder Punch.

shaving-cream-technique-sprinkles-of-life-ice-creams-petal-burst-tief-tree-builder-handmade-card-diy-stampinup-cardsbykatemorgan

I used Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum reinkers into the shaving cream and swirled them around. I used shimmery white card to place into the shaving cream, lift it up and scrape the excess cream off with my pastry scraper (yes, it works great for this technique). Then I used some paper towel to buff it up and see the shimmer of the card.

shaving-cream-technique-sprinkles-of-life-ice-creams-petal-burst-tief-tree-builder-handmade-card-diy-stampinup-cardsbykatemorgan

Don’t these ice-creams look so yummy?!!! They remind me of the Sara Lee Blueberry Cheesecake ice-cream that is a favourite in our house. You really must try it, it is awesome!

shaving-cream-technique-sprinkles-of-life-ice-cream-petal-burst-tief-tree-builder-handmade-card-diy-stampinup-cardsbykatemorgan

And are you wondering how I did the cone?

Well, when we receive our Stampin’ Up! orders in a Big Brown Box, there is all that brown paper protecting our products…. it comes in handy, let me tell you!

You can scrunch it up and then glue it (or use JAC paper) to a piece of card and squash it flat. Stamp the image on it and then cut out the cone with paper snips.  Such a great way to add extra dimension to the cone!

What do you think of today’s projects?

Why don’t you give the baby wipe technique a go!
