Favored Flowers Floating Sympathy card

The card I’m sharing today, is a sympathy card for another work colleague who lost her dear mother last week after a short illness.

I started with a Basic Black card base. Another piece of black card the same size as the card front was dry embossed with the Stitched Greenery die. I took some White Craft ink refill and placed a few drops onto an acrylic block. With a Water Painter, I carefully squirted some water on the ink, placed the water painter into it to mix it aroundy, then tapped it with my fingers to add some white splotches to the embossed card.

The Favored Flowers DSP is one of the Level 1 Sale•a•bration items you can get free with a $90 product order during Jan/February. I used my Paper Snips to fussy cut the flowers, including the ones on the edges of the paper. I placed them on the card to work out my arrangement, before adding Black Dimensionals to each one and adding them to the card.

I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink, added White Emboss Powder and melted it with my Heat Tool. I die cut it with the Stitched Rectangle die, then added some White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.

On the inside I added a Basic White insert with another fussy cut flower from the edge of the paper. The envelope also had a small flower glued to the corner. A small flower was also glued tot he front of the envelope! Some 2021-2023 InColor Jewels were added last. I was really happy with how this card turned out.

Seaside Bay Sympathy card

The card I’m sharing today, is a sympathy card for a work colleague who lost her dear mother just after Christmas.

I’m really pleased with how this turned out, using Petal Pink, Coastal Cabana and Gold! The gorgeous By the Bay Specialty DSP was my deciding colour choice, in the soft pastel tones.

By the Bay SDSP 2023

This coordinates with the Seaside Bay Bundle (stamp set & dies). I started with a Petal Pink card base. I cut another piece of Petal Pink card 1cm smaller than the base. To this I added a 7cm strip of the SDSP down the centre. Using the Seashells 3D embossing folder, I ran it through the Cut & Emboss machine. I glued it to a piece of Coastal Cabana card and cut it using the Trimmer to have a very small border. I wrapped some gold Simply Elegant Trim around 3 times and tied off in a knot. This was then popped up on Dimensionals.

I die cut a circle using the Layering Circle dies, sponged the edges with Petal Pink ink using a dauber. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink, added Gold Emboss Powder and melted it with my Heat Tool. I stamped a shell onto Basic White card and die cut it and glued it to the circle. This was then added to the card on Dimensionals. Some gold Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins were added for a little extra gold!

On the inside I added a Basic White insert with a strip of DSP and a Gold Foil shell die cut with the dies.

Sneak Peek of Two-Tone Flora Bundle

Today, I have created a predominantly Basic White card with a gorgeous pop of colour.

The gorgeous background is a large intricate die that I put Adhesive Sheet on the back of the Basic White card before die cutting. This then creates a sticky back once you remove the backing paper instead of using glue and making a big mess. This is adhered to the card base like a sticker.

Next step was to ink up some of the flowers and I decided to do a tone on tone for each one. The darker tone is the colour at full strength, then the lighter tone is stamped off once or some call it second generation stamping. Colour Combination Old Olive Bermuda Bay Daffodil Delight Fresh Freesia Orchid Oasis Pumpkin Pie Polished Pink

Each flower and the leaves have coordinating dies, so no fussy cutting needed. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive ink. Four of the flowers are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and the others glued directly to the card.

The sentiment is stamped in Old Olive ink using the Framed Florets stamp set, then fussy cut with Paper Snips. Some Wink of Stella was added to the centres of each flower. Some new gold Adhesive-backed Sequin embellishments were added to finish it off nicely. All of these stamps, dies, sequins will be available to order from 5 January 2023, or now if you are a demonstrator, or add them to your starter kit and join to save on all your craft products!

Week 33 – Old Olive

This is our final Colour Creations blog hop for 2022, but I hope you will join us again on 4 January 2023 when we return!

Today, I have used the Cottage Rose Bundle with the coordinating Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper. I have gone with some neutrals in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso with Old Olive. All of the feature images are stamped and die cut from Crumb Cake card. The sentiment and main floral image are stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and heat set. I really like using the “Best Wishes” sentiment, as it can be for many occasions; birthday, sympathy, farewell, wedding, etc.

Best Wishes card using Stampin Up Cottage Rose Bundle by Kate Morgan, Australia 2022

I used my Dark Crumb Cake Blends Marker around the edges of the main image so it really stands out! I used a sponge dauber to add Early Espresso ink around the sentiment which is cut using the Double Oval Punch as well as on the tips of the die cut flowers behind the focal image.

The card base is Old Olive. The next layer is a piece of the DSP cut with the largest die in the Stitched Rectangle dies, then I coloured the leaves with the Light Old Olive Blends Marker. I took a Blending Brush and added ink across the whole DSP piece. I inked one side of the Merry Melody 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with Early Espresso, placed the DSP inside and ran it through my Emboss machine. Then I used the dauber to add ink around the edges before gluing to the card base. Some printed Vellum Layering Designs was added to soften the background.

A Silver piece of Simply Elegant Trim was pulled apart to separate all the fibres. This was something that Shelli Gardner (cofounder of Stampin’ Up!) shared with us during our recent demonstrator only event and it’s such a neat trick!

Week 28 – Melon Mambo

The excitement is really growing now, as I am heading to Sydney on Friday to see all my SU friends at our OnStage event for demonstrators. This is the first time for 3 years (thanks Covid) that we will be able to be there in person, yippee. There’s nothing like getting together in a huge room with 500 fellow crafters – can you imagine the hype?!!!

Anyway, more about that next week, but for now we need to focus our minds on Melon Mambo.

The Sending Smiles Bundle is a beauty. The flowers are stamped with the aid of the Stamparatus, in Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry inks. The leaves are Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. Using a Sponge Dauber to add the Rich Razzleberry ink to the edges of the flowers as the final step, gives it a lovely tone. The same was done with the leaves and the Evening Evergreen ink.

The white stamped layer is die cut using the Deckled Rectangle dies. This is adhered to a Gold Brushed Metallic Stitched Rectangle die and this glued onto a Melon Mambo layer on the dramatic, Basic Black card base.

The ‘thanks’ is die cut in Basic Black card and Gold Brushed Metallic cardstock. Before die cutting the Gold, I remembered to add Adhesive Sheet so it can be adhered like a sticker to the black layer. This is glued to the card. Some Glossy Dots Assortment were added at the end.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you can join me next week for inspiration using Merry Merlot.

Sending Smiles, Partial Die Cutting Technique

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 26 – Highland Heather

Today is the first time I have inked up the Sending Smiles stamp set, I can’t believe it’s taken me so long. With the coordinating dies, it makes it super easy to cut out many of the images as well as this Partial Die Cutting Technique.

Colour Combination - Highland Heather

Taking a piece of Basic White Thick card stock, I stamped the four flowers across the top. Place the coordinating die for each one and hold it with washi tape so they don’t move. Place it on your die cutting machine (ensure it is straight), and move the top acrylic plate so it only covers the top half of the dies.  This ensures only that only the top section will cut. After removing the dies, place it in your Trimmer to cut between the images in straight line to remove the excess card or you can use a craft knife and ruler. I then cut a strip of Gold Metallic Specialty Paper and glued it behind the cut flowers. I then stamped the leaves and extra flowers, some directly onto the card and some die cut to add extra dimension using Dimensionals.

Sending Smiles Partial Die Cutting card Highland Heather CCBH by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

I glued this to an A5 landscape Basic White card, ensuring the gold was against the fold. Now I could trim off the excess at the bottom so it would fit into a C6 envelope. Using the Basic Border die, I cut a strip of Gingham Cottage DSP and glued it to the bottom of the card. The ‘sending’ sentiment is stamped in Versamark ink onto Highland Heather card stock using the Stamparatus, as I like to ink it a couple of times. Sprinkle some Heat & Stick powder over, shake off the excess and melt it with a Heat Tool. Now add some Gilded Leaf and press it on to cover the sentiment. I use a sponge dauber to gently rub off the excess. Cut it out with the coordinating die. ‘Birthday Wishes’ is stamped directly to the card.

You can really see the Gilded Leaf on the sentiment below and the Wink of Stella on the flower centres.

On the inside, I used the left over piece of the Gingham Cottage paper from the front and added it to the bottom of the card, with another stamped flower.

I finished it off with some Glossy Dots Assortment in Daffodil Delight and Gorgeous Grape and the Wink of Stella.

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 22 – Garden Green

Today I am using the Grassy Grove Bundle. The torn paper technique, recently shared with a member of The Crafty Carrot team, is super effective. I’ve used it in the background with Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape & Soft Succulent.

Grassy Grove with Torn Background card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

The dies were used to cut out the tree layer in Garden Green cardstock, before dry embossing it with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder. The I took a Blending Brush and added colour to the top half to give it a little more depth. The tree layer is added to the card with Mini Dimensionals/Adhesive Strips.

The deer are die cut from some Brushed Metallic cardstock and added with Multipurpose Adhesive Glue.

On the inside I added some stamped tree images and a sentiment from the Charming Sentiments stamp set. onto a Basic White insert.

Here is a surprise card to share with you, as I have extra time this week while on school holidays. The Stitched Greenery die creates the beautiful background with the Hues of Happiness DSP doesn’t need anything extra, as it is stunning on its own!

The Very Vanilla card is 10.5cm x 24.9cm, score at 8.3cm & 16.6cm. The sentiment is from the Blessings of Home stamp set. This is a very easy card to create with a few basic products.

Week 21 – Fresh Freesia

Today I have a fun fancy fold design called a Suspended Book Fold card. It looks complicated, but in fact it is fairly easy to create. I am focusing on the Hues of Happiness DSP, with it’s gorgeous purples and floral images.

Fresh Freesia Gorgeous Grape Basic White

and here is my card – look at those layers?!!

There are two hinges attached to the 5″ x 7″ card base and the top book fold panels, giving it the ‘suspended’ name.

Suspended Book Fold card for Fresh Freesia Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022 top side

The top card layer has a strip of Window Sheet which curves to the front and the focal panel is attached to this. I took a scrap piece of white card, approximately 2½” x 2″ and covered it with the die cut (Happiness Abounds dies) images from the Hues of Happiness papers. A simple sentiment from the Sending Smiles stamp set was stamped in Fresh Freesia ink onto basic white card and glued to the flowers. I added some Brushed Brass Butterflies to finish!

This card does fold flat, but because it is 5″ x 7″, you will need a larger envelope. You may be wondering where to place your written message, well the back of the card has a large space for that!

Week 20 – Flirty Flamingo

Today I really wanted a dramatic look, so I started with a Basic Black card base. I took an acrylic block, and added some White Craft ink refill. Using the Water Painter brush I squeezed some water onto the ink and flicked it onto the card base.

I took a piece of the Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper and applied inks using Flirty Flamingo and Melon Mambo. Once I had a lovely mix of colour, I used the Water Painter again with just Melon Mambo ink and flicked it over the watercolouring. Place this aside to dry.

The Brilliant Wings dies were used to cut out the butterflies, which were adhered to the card using Multipurpose Glue just along the body so the wings could sit up.

The sentiment from the Sending Smiles stamp set is stamped in Versamark ink onto black card. I added Silver Emboss Powder and heat set it. Cut it out with the coordinating Sending dies. I tied a piece of the Silver Simply Elegant Trim in a big bow and placed it on the centre of the largest butterfly, then added the sentiment over the top on Black Mini Dimensionals.

To finish off, I coloured some Rhinestone Basic Jewels with the Dark Flirty Flamingo Blends Marker. Some Black and White Pearlized Enamel Effects were also added in groups of three for extra interest.

On the inside a Flirty Flamingo layer with a Basic White layer were added with another water coloured butterfly.

Week 17 – Daffodil Delight

At first, I was going to use the Daffodil Daydream stamp set, but I wanted to challenge myself a little more by using the Vintage Bottle Punch with the Effervescent Elements inside the Vintage Bottle Shaker Dome.

So here is my card…

Shaker Card using Pansy Patch and Vintge Bottle by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

A Daffodil Delight card base with a layer of Basic White and then some patterned paper, from the  Wonderful World Bundle that is one of the Sale•a•bration offerings with a $180+ product order until 31 August or while stocks last!

159918

The Vintage Bottle Punch was used to punch this patterned paper ready to insert the dome. Before gluing any of the layers, I stamped a couple of the stems in Soft Succulent ink onto the white card layer so it looks like they are in the bottle. Next I stamped all the images using the following inks; Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Orchid Oasis, Starry Sky, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen before die cutting them with the coordinating dies. Once I worked out the placement, I glued the leaves and stems in place and added 3 of the flowers with Dimensionals. Now was the scary part, trying to put those Effervescent Elements into the dome without spilling them 😉 You may notice a slight blue tinge to the dome – I actually coloured the inside of it with the Dark Pool Party Stampin Blends Marker!

Pansy Posy in a Vintage Bottle by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

The sentiment is stamped onto one of the Tailor Made Tags dies in Soft Succulent ink and threaded through some Linen Thread. I tied some Soft Succulent Satin Ribbon in a bow and added it to the top of the bottle with two Glue Dots. I finished it off with some Brushed Brass Butterflies.
