Masculine Fun Fold 3D Shutter Card

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 29 – Merry Merlot

Today’s card was inspired by Amy Shihinski (in Canada), but I needed to change it up to suit our Metric measurements here in the South Pacific. If you wish to see Amy’s measurements, there will be a link at the end of this post.

I made this card for my hubby’s birthday on Sunday. He accompanied me to Sydney so I could attend OnStage on Saturday with 500 crafty friends, he spent the day wandering around Sydney by himself and had a wonderful time. Not sure why he wouldn’t attend OnStage with me, LOL!

Anyway, I carefully carried this card all the way to Sydney in my luggage to surprise him on Sunday morning.

I have used the Brewed for You Bundle and the Lights Aglow Specialty Designer Series Paper and Gold Brushed Metallic Foil.

Masculine 3D Shutter Card Brewed For You by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022 front.

The stamping is all done in Black Memento, Crushed Curry and Merry Merlot inks and die cut using the coordinating Brewed dies. The Snowfall Accents Puff Paint was added to the beer glasses and heated with the Heat Tool to activate.

Here is the real wow of this card when you open it!

Masculine 3D Shutter Card Brewed For You by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

You may notice that the sentiments and the beer glass look a little different on the inside, as they were not going to fit on the card. Never fear, I just adapted. The glass wasn’t going to fit as it was too tall, so I cut the top off down to the beer level and added the froth! The sentiments across the centre panels, I had to carefully ink up individual words, covering the ones I didn’t want, covered with some washi tape (remember to remove the tape before stamping onto the card though!).

Here are my measurements (metric):
Merry Merlot A5 card base: 14.8cm x 21cm, scored in half @ 10.5cm
Basic White Card insert: 20cm x 14cm (see image below)
Merry Merlot Matt layers: 4.5cm x 4.5cm (8), 2cm x 3.5cm (4), 4.5cm x 3.5cm (2)
Lights Aglow SDSP layers: 4cm x 4cm (4)
Gold Foil layers: 4cm x 4cm (2), 1.5cm x 3cm (4)
Basic White layers: 4cm x 4cm (2), 4cm x 3cm (2)

Christmas Tree Gatefold card

2022 Heart of Christmas LogoEach Monday, join me for the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart team. We will be showcasing our July-December Mini catalogue and Annual catalogue Christmas products.

This Gatefold card has the most beautiful Christmas Tree as the main feature.

This is a larger card and will need a bigger envelope, but I think I will just leave it on top of a present, under the ribbon bow. Why would I want to enclose it in an envelope, right?!!!

A Pool Party card base, Night of Navy Matt layers, the Storybook Gnome DSP. and the Brightest Glow Bundle for the sentiment. The sentiment is Heat embossed with White Emboss Powder before being die cut with the Labels Aglow dies. The Rhinestone Jewels are coloured with Night of Navy Blends Combo Markers.

Texture Chic Trifold Shutter card

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 27 – Mango Melody

This Trifold Shutter card is quite easy to make, but it’s all the layering pieces that takes the time to cut and glue together. I am using the Perched in a Tree Bundle with the Texture Chic Specialty Designer Series Paper.

My card base is Mango Melody, the matts are Basic Black and the patterned papers as mentioned above.

Trifold Shutter card using Stampin Up Texture Chic & Perched in a Tree Bundle by Kate Morgan, Australia 2022

I stamped the bird in Black Memento ink onto Basic White card.  I placed the coordinating die over the top and held it down with some washi tape. Before cutting it out, I used my blending brushes to add the colouring; Mango Melody, Pool Party & Petal Pink. This was so that the white border around the image remained white once it was die cut!

I covered the bird with Wink of Stella to stand out even more. Lastly I added some gold Festive Pearls.

Trifold Shutter card using Stampin Up Texture Chic & Perched in a Tree Bundle by Kate Morgan, Australia 2022 front

The branch is cut from Evening Evergreen card and the floral spray was cut from Basic White card and Petal Pink ink added with the blending brushes. The leaves were coloured the same way and then I added small amounts of Multipurpose Adhesive Glue, allowing it to almost dry, before adding the Gilded Leafing.

The next panel has the sentiment stamped in Memento Black ink and cut using the Stitched Rectangle dies. The Basic Black layer is one size rectangle larger. I had a small strip of the patterned paper left over, so I used my Paper Snips to cut banners at either end and glued it to the black layer. The sentiment layer is added on Mini Dimensionals.

Sending Smiles, Partial Die Cutting Technique

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 26 – Highland Heather

Today is the first time I have inked up the Sending Smiles stamp set, I can’t believe it’s taken me so long. With the coordinating dies, it makes it super easy to cut out many of the images as well as this Partial Die Cutting Technique.

Colour Combination - Highland Heather

Taking a piece of Basic White Thick card stock, I stamped the four flowers across the top. Place the coordinating die for each one and hold it with washi tape so they don’t move. Place it on your die cutting machine (ensure it is straight), and move the top acrylic plate so it only covers the top half of the dies.  This ensures only that only the top section will cut. After removing the dies, place it in your Trimmer to cut between the images in straight line to remove the excess card or you can use a craft knife and ruler. I then cut a strip of Gold Metallic Specialty Paper and glued it behind the cut flowers. I then stamped the leaves and extra flowers, some directly onto the card and some die cut to add extra dimension using Dimensionals.

Sending Smiles Partial Die Cutting card Highland Heather CCBH by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

I glued this to an A5 landscape Basic White card, ensuring the gold was against the fold. Now I could trim off the excess at the bottom so it would fit into a C6 envelope. Using the Basic Border die, I cut a strip of Gingham Cottage DSP and glued it to the bottom of the card. The ‘sending’ sentiment is stamped in Versamark ink onto Highland Heather card stock using the Stamparatus, as I like to ink it a couple of times. Sprinkle some Heat & Stick powder over, shake off the excess and melt it with a Heat Tool. Now add some Gilded Leaf and press it on to cover the sentiment. I use a sponge dauber to gently rub off the excess. Cut it out with the coordinating die. ‘Birthday Wishes’ is stamped directly to the card.

You can really see the Gilded Leaf on the sentiment below and the Wink of Stella on the flower centres.

On the inside, I used the left over piece of the Gingham Cottage paper from the front and added it to the bottom of the card, with another stamped flower.

I finished it off with some Glossy Dots Assortment in Daffodil Delight and Gorgeous Grape and the Wink of Stella.

Week 25 – Gray Granite

Today’s masculine card features the Brewed for You Bundle and He’s the Man DSP. I started with a Gray Granite card base 21cm x 14cm scored @ 6.5cm, 10.5cm. I stamped the ‘hey, there!’ (Charming Sentiments stamp set) multiple times down the left hand side using the Stamparatus. I was going to use the hinge technique, but it was going to be too far apart, so I placed some grid paper under the card and used the Squares to line up my stamping. I moved the card up 2 more squares and stamped again and repeat. Open the card flat and die cut the circle (Stylish Shapes die), centred along the first scoreline. Now you can glue the left panel to the inside of the card.

Cut another circle in Basic White card and glue it to fit inside the front of the card. The He’s The Man DSP is used on right side and the reverse of this side. I cut a very thin strip of Brushed Metallics card in the Gold and glued it down the edge of the DSP on the front.

The wine glasses are stamped and die cut and the red wine is created by using a Blending Brush and Merry Merlot ink. The glass on the inside is empty with the sentiment ‘Another round for your birthday’!

Decorated Pines for Christmas Fun Fold card

2022 Heart of Christmas LogoEach Monday, join me for the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart team. We will be showcasing our July-December Mini catalogue and Annual catalogue Christmas products.

My card features the Santa Express Designer Series Paper, using three different patterns in this fun fold design.

Colour Combination - Shaded Spruce Real Red Basic White

Decorated Pines Fun Fold card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

The Decorated Pine dies were used to create the feature panel. The branch is Shaded Spruce and the baubles are Brushed Metallic Gold cardstock with the 2022-2024 In Color Glimmer paper to fill them in. The bows are Real Red. Using Adhesive Sheets on all these pieces makes it a lot easier than trying to use Multipurpose adhesive glue for such intricate work.

Grassy Grove with Torn paper technique

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 22 – Garden Green

Today I am using the Grassy Grove Bundle. The torn paper technique, recently shared with a member of The Crafty Carrot team, is super effective. I’ve used it in the background with Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape & Soft Succulent.

Grassy Grove with Torn Background card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

The dies were used to cut out the tree layer in Garden Green cardstock, before dry embossing it with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder. The I took a Blending Brush and added colour to the top half to give it a little more depth. The tree layer is added to the card with Mini Dimensionals/Adhesive Strips.

The deer are die cut from some Brushed Metallic cardstock and added with Multipurpose Adhesive Glue.

On the inside I added some stamped tree images and a sentiment from the Charming Sentiments stamp set. onto a Basic White insert.

Here is a surprise card to share with you, as I have extra time this week while on school holidays. The Stitched Greenery die creates the beautiful background with the Hues of Happiness DSP doesn’t need anything extra, as it is stunning on its own!

The Very Vanilla card is 10.5cm x 24.9cm, score at 8.3cm & 16.6cm. The sentiment is from the Blessings of Home stamp set. This is a very easy card to create with a few basic products.

Suspended Book Fold card

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 21 – Fresh Freesia

Today I have a fun fancy fold design called a Suspended Book Fold card. It looks complicated, but in fact it is fairly easy to create. I am focusing on the Hues of Happiness DSP, with it’s gorgeous purples and floral images.

Fresh Freesia Gorgeous Grape Basic White

and here is my card – look at those layers?!!

Suspended Book Fold card for Fresh Freesia Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

There are two hinges attached to the 5″ x 7″ card base and the top book fold panels, giving it the ‘suspended’ name.

Suspended Book Fold card for Fresh Freesia Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022 top side

The top card layer has a strip of Window Sheet which curves to the front and the focal panel is attached to this. I took a scrap piece of white card, approximately 2½” x 2″ and covered it with the die cut (Happiness Abounds dies) images from the Hues of Happiness papers. A simple sentiment from the Sending Smiles stamp set was stamped in Fresh Freesia ink onto basic white card and glued to the flowers. I added some Brushed Brass Butterflies to finish!

Suspended Book Fold card for Fresh Freesia Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022 top

This card does fold flat, but because it is 5″ x 7″, you will need a larger envelope. You may be wondering where to place your written message, well the back of the card has a large space for that!

Basic Measurements:
5” x 7” card base (mark at 3½” top & bottom and draw light pencil line)
5” x 5” card folded in half @ 2½”
Hinges x 2 – 2” x 6”, score at 1½”, 3”, 4½”

2 panels (front) – Matt layers 2¼” x 4¾” & DSP 2” x 4½”

Dancing Gnomes

2022 Heart of Christmas LogoEach Monday, join me for the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart team. We will be showcasing our July-December Mini catalogue and Annual catalogue Christmas products.

My Slimline card today has a fun trio of dancing Gnomes!

I layered some Mint Macaron card on the Thick White card base, then a layer of the snowflake design from the Storybook Gnomes DSP.

Dancing Gnomes Slimline card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

The mechanism for the feet to swing, is simply a piece of 2cm x 3cm white card with a hole in the centre. See the nose of the Gnome, well that same die was used to cut the hole (keep these die cut pieces to use for the nose by colouring with the Dark Petal Pink Blends Marker). Glue the mechanism to the back of the feet. Place the feet onto the card and hold the gnome above to work out where you need the feet to be. Add a Mini Dimensional in the centre. Remove the backing paper.

Dancing Gnome mechanism by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022    Dancing Gnome by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

Put together the rest of the Gnomes. Flip them over and add 4 x Mini Dimensionals to the back of the Gnome’s hat (as shown), allowing plenty of room for the mechanism to swing behind the beard. Remove the paper backings and add the Gnome over the mechanism and feet. Ta-da, dancing Gnomes!!! I added some arms to each Gnome later, as I felt they were missing. To create those I used the small mushroom die for the sleeves with the nose for the hands.

Decorate the inside to match the front.

Measurements
Card base: 21cm x 20cm, score short edge @ 10cm
Mint Macaron: 20.5cm x 9.5cm (2)
DSP: 20cm x 9cm (front) & 20cm x 2cm (inside)
White card: 20cm x 9cm (inside)
Extras for Gnomes: Basic White (beard, hand & mechanism), Real Red & Shaded Spruce (feet/arms), DSP (hats)

This card was inspired by a USA demonstrator, Susan Campfield (link below). I loved her card, although I wanted to create a slimline card to fit a trio of dancing Gnomes and I added arms!!!

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you can join me next week for more Christmas inspiration!

Pretty Birds say hello

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 19 – Evening Evergreen

Today I am using a bundle that is new to me, the Pretty Birds Bundle which includes the Pretty Birds Stamp Set and the Birdhouse Dies. I just love the bird cage die and I had to use it with Gold Foil Sheets.

When I was a kid, I had two budgies, Sky and Matilda. They loved it when I would take the cage outside and hang in the trees to be with nature. They would chirp away happily. So, that was the inspiration for this card, with the Happy Forest Friends Designer Series Paper in the background. I found it a little too much and the cage got lost, so I added a layer of vellum over the DSP to tone it down.

Pretty Birds for Evening Evergreen CCBH by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

I took a piece of the Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper and using the Water Painters, added some Evening Evergreen and Parakeet Party ink. Once it was dry, I stamped the budgie a couple of times with Memento Black ink. Because the colour wasn’t bold enough once dry, I used my Daffodil Delight, Parakeet Party and Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blends Markers to strengthen the colour. Once I die cut the birds, I also die cut the perch in Evening Evergreen card and added them to the vellum. The cage is popped up on mini dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped and added on min dimensionals also. The leaves are die cut from the leftover water-coloured paper and Evening Evergreen card. These were added with Multipurpose glue. Once everything was adhered to the vellum, I flipped it over and added glue behind all the die cut pieces so it doesn’t show through.

On the inside I stamped the smaller birdhouse and attached a water-coloured bow and another budgie.
