Soft Sea Foam CCBH: Seasonal Branches & sneak peek of new products

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 47 – Soft Sea Foam

For this card I feature the Seasonal Branches Bundle for a thinking of you card. This bundle is retiring very soon, and I will be sad to see it go.

I chose a piece of Soft Sea Foam patterned paper from the Subtles 6×6 DSP. A matt layer of basic white card with a piece of Soft Sea Foam card is placed across. Some Baker’s Twine is wrapped around twice and tied in a bow.

The basic white Deckled Circles die is lightly coloured in the centre with ink using a Blending Brush and is added on dimensionals. The branch, inked in Pecan Pie is stamped and die cut, as is the leaves in Parakeet Party ink and coloured with Soft Sea Foam Blends Combo markers. The bird is stamped in Black Memento ink and coloured with Soft Sea Foam and Lemon Lolly Blends Combo Markers. The sentiments are stamped in Pecan Pie ink. Iridescent Rhinestones are added for some sparkle!

On the inside I added a strip of DSP and another sentiment.

My next card is a sneak peek of some new products coming in May.  This gorgeous backgeround stamp, Leaf Collection was demonstrated at our recent OnStage event by Julianne Richards and I loved it. She stamped it in one colour and then flipped the card 180° and stamped it again in a lighter colour and wow, it was brilliant. So I have tried to recreate that today by using a new In Color, Summer Splash and then Soft Sea Foam. I did use my Stamparatus to stmp in Soft Sea Foam twice, as it is a very pale colour.

2024-2026 IN COLORS

Country Flowers & Leaf Collection sneak peek for Soft Sea Foam Colour Creations blog hop by Kate Moegan, Stmpin Up Australia 2024

The feature image is a stamp set, Country Flowers, which my lovely friend, Cathy, and coordinator of this blog hop, chose for our After Hours event at OnStage, and she let me stamp a few onto Fluid 100 Watercolor paper. As I didn’t have the coordinating dies, this was fussy cut and then watercoloured using inks and a Water Painter brush. The leaves are all coloured using Soft Sea Foam ink, but you can see how dark it looks. This is because I didn’t use a lot of water tokeep the intensity. The flowers are coloured with more new 2024-2026 In Colors, Pretty in Pink, Peach Pie & Petunia Pop! The pot is a mix of Peach Pie and Petunia Pop inks which I mixed together on an acrylic block to get a slightly richer tone. Between the flowers and the handle of the pot were too white, so I coloured them with a watered down tone of Soft Sea Foam so it blended in with the background!

The circle dies and the sentiment are from the Spotlight on Nature Bundle which I selected for our After Hours event.

Sea Turtle with Babywipe Technique and a Baby card using Little Dreamers Bundle

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 15 – Cajun Craze

Today I am using a newly purchased stamp set, Sea Turtle, and using the Babywipe Technique and some water colouring. After being inspired by Andrea Sargent at our recent 35yr event, she demonstrated her water colouring technique, I was really keen to have another go!

Cajun Craze Blog Hop

I started with the Fluid 100 Watercolor paper and applied a layer of water using my wider Water Painter. Picking up some Coastal Cabana ink I dabbed it onto the water and let it spread. I repeated this process with the Pretty Peacock and Blueberry Bushel inks. As the colours blended together beautifully, I used the Heat Tool to dry it and move some of colours in the process. I took the Water Painter again, picked up some Pretty Peacock ink and tapped it on my fingers to add some splotches, then set it aside to dry.

The next step was to fold two babywipes and place them on a paper plate. Adding some ink refill drops in the four colours to create my own ‘inkpad’. Press the tutle stamps onto the babywipes then onto some Basic White card. Just look at the gorgeous colours you get!

These were fussy cut using Paper Snips. Once I had 3 little tutrles, I placed them onto my Versamark inkpad to cover them entirely, then into some Clear Emboss Powder and melt it with the Heat Tool.

The starfish are stamped in Cajun Craze ink onto Basic White card. I took a Blending Brush and lightly added some extra colour before using Paper Snips to cut them out. The Gorgeously Made dies were used for the plant life. One I left white and the other added some light  watercolouring.

To assemble, I have a Thick Basic White card base and the watercolour piece is added to the centre using Tear & Tape. I find this nice and strong to keep the paper flat. The frame is slightly smaller than the card base and cut the centre with the Deckled Rectangle die, before running it through my Cut & Emboss Machine in the Timeworn Type 3D TIEF. I glued the plants onto the card first then the frame added with Tear & Tape. The linen thread bow was added on a glue dot and the starfish on a dimensional. The smaller starfish is glued down. Each of the turtles are added on a dimensional. The sentiment is from the Waves of Inspiration stamp set and some Tinsel Gems dotted around.

On the inside, I added an insert with some fish stamped across the bottom, a large turtle and  some more starfish!

My next card has a little more Cajun Craze on it than the above card. I recently purchased the Little Dreamers Bundle and thought the lion would be perfect in Cajun Craze!

I stamped the Rays of Light stamp in Crushed Curry ink onto Basic White card. The Regals 6″x6″ DSP was cut to size I wanted to allow for a narrow border on the card base. I used the Deckled Circles dies (new in upcoming Mini catalogue) to cut out a circle. I added Dimensionals to the back of the DSP and cut the Rays of Light down to fit underneath. This raised the top layer as you can see below. I stamped the lion and used the dies to cut it out. I inked the star only in Crushed Curry ink and cut it out too and added it with a dimensional for added height.

These images were coloured gently with my Water Painter and inkpads. I also added Wink of Stella to the lions mane & tip of the tail and the star. It’s hard to see in the photo.  The lion is added on dimensionals and I added some extra little stars from the same die set. The White Herringbone Ribbon was added and some Linen Thread tied is a bow.

On the inside a sentiment is stamped and fussy cut to partially sit over a strip of DSP (this is the reverside side of the DSP on the front of the card).

Introducing Wild Wheat

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 5 – Wild Wheat

Today brings us to the fifth new In Color, Wild Wheat. I have to admit, this colour does not exactly excite me, but hey, with any luck it will grow on me!

I started this card today by designing the Patchwork Pieces die with some of the 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Packs; Lost Lagoon from the Subtles pack, Melon Mambo from the Brights pack and Wild Wheat from the In Colors pack. Because I was using 3 different colours, meant I would be able to create 3 lots of patchwork pieces. I cut some white card to the size of the large die, which I added Stampin’ Seal to the entire piece, so the patchwork pieces would be able to stick to it.

My Wild Wheat card base (27.5cm x 13cm) is folded in 3, scored @ 9.2cm & 18.4cm.
You can see the Lost Lagoon Bordered ribbon is adhered to the front section of the card only, so it can be wrapped around the card to close it.

The 3 Patchwork panels are adhered to the front, inside and the back panel. The 3rd panel has the Basic White card cut with the Radiating Stitches dies to write your message. These dies were also used to cut the heart and circle. The ‘happy birthday’ sentiment is the Wanted to Say dies. The sentiment on the front [Dainty Delight] is stamped in Versamark Ink, White Emboss Powder added before heat setting with Heat Tool. It was added to the card with Dimensionals.

I decided to make a second card, but this time reducing the amount of Wild Wheat. I started by taking a Water Painter and some ink and applying it to some Fluid 100 Water Colour Paper. While it was still damp, I took my Boho Blue Blends Marker and flicking it using the lid of the pen, I added some splatters. I repeated this with the Moody Mauve Blends.

Cheerful Daisies Card for Wild Wheat colour creations blog hop 2023 by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia

The Cheerful Daisies Bundle and Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper were my features for this card. I die cut the daisies in Basic White card. The centres are cut from the Water coloured paper as are the leaves. I also used the More Dazzle Specialty Paper to cut some extra leaves for sparkle!

The centre panel in the background, is Wild Wheat and I stamped the leaf image in 2nd generation stamping; meaning I inked the stamp, stamped on some paper before onto the card strip. A piece of the dotty design of the Vellum Basics Specialty pack was cut using the Nested Essentials dies and placed over the centre of the 3 strips. I’m not sure if you can see the 2 lines at the top and 2 at the bottom of the white layer? I added these for some extra interest using my scoring blade in my Trimmer.

Week 45 – Shaded Spruce

Today’s card started off a little shaky to be honest. I find this green a little tricky to create with, but I knew I wanted to use this pretty vellum with the leaf pattern. The Shaded Spruce card base was folded in half then I cut the Scallop edge on the front. I took another piece of card and die cut the edge again a little further in so it created the double scallop edge and adhered it to the card front.

I took a Blending Brush and applied Shaded Spruce ink to the reverse side of the Vellum. I needed to have some white card behind it but it can be tricky when it comes to gluing to the card, without the glue showing through. I managed to do it by adding glue to the right side and placing a thin strip of Gold Foil over the top. I then glued it onto the card front butting it up too the edge of the Scallop Contours die. The left side of the vellum doesn’t have any glue behind it, so I notched the top and bottom with my 1/8″ circle punch (this helps hold the ribbon/twine in place) and wound some gold Simply Elegant Trim around and tied in a bow. A glue dot was placed under the bow to hold it in place.

The Something Fancy dies were used to cut the Regency Park DSP and frame behind the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment (Charming Sentiments) onto Night of Navy card in Versamark Ink, added Gold Emboss Powder and melted it with my Heat Tool. It was die cut using the coordinating dies (Sentiment Silhouettes) and popped up on Mini Dimensionals.

On the inside I placed a strip of the Regency Park Designer Series Paper down the right side and placed a smaller piece of white card with some gold foil.

I find this all really dark and it did not exactly please me, so I went about creating a softer and more subtle, feminine card.

I made a card a couple of weeks ago with a similar effect, but this week I have cut the card to create more of a picket fence look. I am using a couple of the In Colours that are due to retire at the end of May; Fresh Freesia & Polished Pink.

Framed Florets on a picket fence by Kate Morgan Stampin Up Australia 2023

The Framed Florets Bundle was used to stamp many flowers in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and melted with the Heat Tool. I water coloured them with Shaded Spruce, Polished Pink and Fresh Freesia inks. I watered down some Shaded Spruce ink and added it to some Thick Basic White paper. Once dry, I die cut some leaves. Some Open Weave Polished Pink Ribbon and White Crinkled Ribbon was cut in half and added between the layers of flowers. The sentiment is embossed in white onto Fresh Freesia card. Some Iridescent Basic Pearls were added for that extra feminine touch!
