Wildflower Fields Card Box

Dear Crafters,

Today I share a gift idea in the way of a large envelope/card box to place some cards and envelopes in to give as a lovely gift to someone.

I have used Blackberry Bliss, this stunning rich colour coordinates with the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper that you can choose for free with any $90 order during Saleabration.

This envelope can hold 6 A5 cards and C6 envelopes. It is really just a thicker envelope that I made using the diagonal plate with the Simply Scored.

I started with an 11″ x 11″piece of cardstock and scored on the diagonal plate at 3-1/2″ and 5-1/2″. Tip: Score from the ruler along the top and the sides so you don’t have to turn your card stock.

Turn the card stock 90 degrees and score both sides diagonally at 4-1/2″ an 6-1/2″.

I have used a retired brad as the closer on this one, the flap folds down and underneath it to hold it closed.

I have even put a piece of DSP on the back to dress it up and show off this gorgeous DSP!

Bloomin’ Heart at JAI

Dear Crafters,

Today I enter a challenge at Just Add Ink. The challenge this week is from Rochelle who has suggested we all “Just Add Something New”.

With the new Occasions catalogue going live on 5th January, we have plenty of new yummy products to choose from.

Anyway, lets get rolling!

I started with a Mint Macaron card base and added a piece of the new Birthday Bouquet DSP. A piece of dotted lace trim in Mint Macaron was added across the centre.

Next I die cut the Bloom’ Heart Framelit from Blushing Bride card stock and glued it to some vellum and then cut around the edges with paper snips. This just gave it a more subtle and frosted background.

I stamped the flower images (Bloomin’ Love stamp set) with Blushing Bride ink onto coordinating card stock and die cut them out, before adding with a glue dot and then a pearl into the centre of each one!

The Bow Paper Clip Embellishment was added (how cute are they?!!!)

On the back of the vellum, a dimensional was placed under each of the 5 flowers and added to the card.

I stamped the “celebrate” sentiment (from Beautiful Ride stamp set) in Mint Macaron onto Whisper White card stock and used the banner punch at one end.

Don’t forget to decorate the inside panel along with a coordinating envelope!

Balloon Celebration as flowers

Dear Crafters,

Today I enter a challenge at Pals Paper Arts. The challenge this week is an Colour Challenge PPA#283.

As soon as I saw this colour challenge, I knew I had to give it a go! This is one of my favourite colour combinations.

I started with a Mint Macaron card base and added some coordinating dsp which I sponged the edges.

Next I stamped the images onto Whisper White card stock using the Memento Black Inkpad. The stems are from the Flower Patch stamp set, as is the sentiment, but those flowers are actually from the Balloon Celebration stamp set. Yes, it is that “wheel” looking stamp that we all looked at and wondered what on earth it goes with in the theme of the balloon celebration stamps. It had me stumped for days, but I was determined to have a play and work out exactly what I could create.

The flowers are coloured with the Stampin’ Write Markers, Melon Mambo and Mint Macaron. I stamped the dotty circle image onto vellum and punched it out with the 3/4″ circle punch.

I added each vellum circle with a glue dot and then added a large pearl to the centre of each flower.

Check out that gorgeous white jute ribbon behind, adding the perfect amount of texture!!!

Balloons with Wink of Stella

Today I have used the clear one!

Balloon Framelits, Wink of Stella, Greetings Thinlits #stampinup Occasions 2016 @cardsbykate

I have used the Balloon Framelits and die cut one in some acetate to create a stencil/mask.

I placed it over the white card and sponged the Calypso Coral balloon first, then moved it down and sponged the So Saffron balloon. The next ones were Mint Macaron, Marina Mist & Wisteria Wonder.

Next I used the Greetings Thinlits and die cut the “cheers” sentiment across the balloons. I then die cut another 2 of the same sentiment from scrap white card.

I glued the card base and the stamped balloon sheet together and then glued the 3 layers of the cheers sentiment on top of each other, making sure I placed the coloured one on top! This gives that inlay look.

Last of all, I added the Wink of Stella to the top of each balloon to highlight them.

Sponging & Reflection technique

Dear Crafters,

Today I share a card made using the sponging & reflection technique.

Now I have to say, I am a HUGE fan of artists who are great with using sponges, but I have to say, I am not. I have a go and that is the point of this card. You need to try new things and maybe one day, you too will accomplish new highs.

The very first thing I did, was to stamp the image in basic black ink. Then I stamped that same image onto some acetate and quickly applied the acetate to the card to create the reflection.

Then I placed a large post it note across the bottom of the main image to create the horizon first. I used sponge daubers to keep adding colour until I was happy with it. Be careful not to add too much, as you can always add more, not take it away!!!

Then I removed the post it note and did the lower section of the card. I added some washi tape and the sentiment overlay with a stapler.

Pop out Swing card

Dear Crafters,

Today I share another new card technique that I haven’t tried before, the Pop Out Swing card.

There are loads of Youtube tutorials on this style card, and I can’t remember which one I actually followed. Mind you, I didn’t use the same card size, so in a way, I had to work it out for myself!

I used the Number of Years stamp set for the flowers and the sentiment.

Ink colours used: Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, Rose Red, Perfect Plum, So Saffron.

I love the soft colours of this card and I also stamped some more flowers on the inside of the card!

Perpetual Desk Calendar

Dear Crafters,

With the start of the new year, I thought I would share this idea with you, a Perpetual Desk Calendar!

As you can see, I photographed it last year (lol) on 30th December!

I have used the Birthday Bouquet DSP with my favourite In Colour, Mint Macaron!

The tags are cut using the Scallop Tag Topper punch. I made one for each day of the week.

I also made another 6 with the months, but these ones are double sided!!!

Here is the main construction of the box before I added the tags.

The tags fit in on either side and the cubes sit in front!

The Journey Begins

Dear Crafters,

Well, we come to the end of another year. Personally I am glad it is over, even though it went so fast, but it was not one of my best years with a broken ankle and many deaths in the family. Here’s hoping that 2016 will be much brighter and happier xxx

I love new products and today is no exception. As a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, we have early access to brand new products from the Occasions catalogue and Sale-a-bration brochure which go live on 5th January 2016! Here is a project using the Beautiful Ride stamp set.

I thought this was a perfect card as our Journey Begins leading into a brand new year of 2016!

I stamped the images onto watercolour paper with Memento black ink and used the Aqua Painter brush and inkpads to colour.

Colours I’ve used are: Marina Mist, Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate and Tangelo Twist.

How cute is the little puppy looking out the window?!!!

Happy Birthday Chick

Dear Crafters,

Today’s project uses the brand new Balloon Bouquet Punch, Perfect Pairings stamp set and the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set.

I covered the white card base with some Cherry on Top DSP and stamped the sentiment from the Perfect Pairings stamp set (can be earned free with any $90 order) in Bermuda Bay ink.

The chick was stamped in black directly onto some Daffodil Delight Core card and fussy cut. Then the beak and feet were coloured with the Tangelo Twist Stampin’ Write Marker.

The gold glimmer balloon was cut using the Balloon Bouquet Punch, sure to be a massive seller from the soon to be released Occasions catalogue (5th January)! Don’t you agree that you could use this on so many projects?!!! I added the balloon and chick using dimensionals and some gold cording trim behind the chick and balloon.
