Jungle Pals Easel Card

Saleabration is soon to end on 29 February 2024 and today I feature the Jungle Pals stamp set (free with $90+ order) and the Jungle Pals dies (free with $180+ order) which have been a favourite of mine this Saleabration.

This easel card is easy to make and doesn’t it look great with this jungle scene?!!! Here is the card laying flat as though you have just taken it out of the envelope.

Open it up and place the front of the card behind the sentiment so it sits open!

This may give you a better perspective – you can see there is a piece of Window Sheet/Acetate across the front when some of the animals added with glue dots.

The animals are all stamped with Black Memento ink and fussy cut or die cut with the Jungle Pals dies then coloured using Stampin’ Blends Combo Markers (alcohol):
Toucan – Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight & Basic Black
Lemur – Smoky Slate, Gray Granite & Colour Lifter
Sloths – Crumb Cake
Alligator – Granny Apple Green & Daffodil Delight

When the card is fully open, there are more animals to see lurking in the jungle!

Cathedral Window card and a Fancy Fold card

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 12 – Berry Burst

Today I have a Cathedral Window card using the Bright & Beautiful 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Using the scallop circle (inner piece) from the Give it a Whirl dies, I cut 10 x 1½” circles from different patterns within the pack (if you have a 1½” circle punch it would be easier to punch the circles). I also cut a 1″ x 1″ square from black card as my template.

Cathedral Window card by Kate Morgan Sttampin Up Australia 2023 Berry Burst

Using a piece of foam or a piercing mat, place the 1” square piece into the centre of a circle and using a stylus, trace around the square. Do this to all 10 circles. Fold the edges up against the square card. Remove the black card and use the bone folder to flatten each edge.

Template for easy layoutCathedral Window template
Cut a 4” square of grid paper. Draw a diagonal line > rotate the paper and draw a 1cm line across the centre. Place in the trimmer so the diagonal line is at the ¾” mark and cut > repeat on the other side (cut lines in orange).

Cover the template in Stampin’ Seal & start with the 1st piece in the centre and continue to build to either side. Having the grid makes it super easy to line up!

Cathedral Window steps

Take a Thick Basic White card base, dry emboss the front with the Splatters Embossing folder, then glue the feature across the centre. I added some gold Festive Pearls to the centre joins and some Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins to finish it off.

On the inside I added a Basic White layer mounted onto a Berry Burst matt. The sentiment was cut using the Wanted to Say dies.

This next card is very simple and the pretty Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper (DSP) does all the work for you.

Dainty Delight Delightfully Eclectic Feminine Fancy Fold card by Kate Morgan Sttampin Up Australia 2023 Berry Burst.

The Dainty Delight stamp set was used for the flowers and the sentiment. The image is coloured using Blender Pens and inks; Berry Burst, Bubble Bath & Garden Green. A sponge dauber added some ink to the edge of the white card to soften it. Some Iridescent Pearl Jewels finished it nicely. I left the message panel blank so it could be used for any occasion.

Although this DSP doesn’t have Berry Burst in it, I felt like the centre of the flowers matched really well. I cut another piece of Berry Burst card to have as the card base to make it a little more sturdy.

A left over strip of the DSP is added to the envelope!

Week 29 – Merry Merlot

Today’s card was inspired by Amy Shihinski (in Canada), but I needed to change it up to suit our Metric measurements here in the South Pacific. If you wish to see Amy’s measurements, there will be a link at the end of this post.

I made this card for my hubby’s birthday on Sunday. He accompanied me to Sydney so I could attend OnStage on Saturday with 500 crafty friends, he spent the day wandering around Sydney by himself and had a wonderful time. Not sure why he wouldn’t attend OnStage with me, LOL!

Anyway, I carefully carried this card all the way to Sydney in my luggage to surprise him on Sunday morning.

I have used the Brewed for You Bundle and the Lights Aglow Specialty Designer Series Paper and Gold Brushed Metallic Foil.

Masculine 3D Shutter Card Brewed For You by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022 front.

The stamping is all done in Black Memento, Crushed Curry and Merry Merlot inks and die cut using the coordinating Brewed dies. The Snowfall Accents Puff Paint was added to the beer glasses and heated with the Heat Tool to activate.

Here is the real wow of this card when you open it!

Masculine 3D Shutter Card Brewed For You by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

You may notice that the sentiments and the beer glass look a little different on the inside, as they were not going to fit on the card. Never fear, I just adapted. The glass wasn’t going to fit as it was too tall, so I cut the top off down to the beer level and added the froth! The sentiments across the centre panels, I had to carefully ink up individual words, covering the ones I didn’t want, covered with some washi tape (remember to remove the tape before stamping onto the card though!).

Here are my measurements (metric):
Merry Merlot A5 card base: 14.8cm x 21cm, scored in half @ 10.5cm
Basic White Card insert: 20cm x 14cm (see image below)
Merry Merlot Matt layers: 4.5cm x 4.5cm (8), 2cm x 3.5cm (4), 4.5cm x 3.5cm (2)
Lights Aglow SDSP layers: 4cm x 4cm (4)
Gold Foil layers: 4cm x 4cm (2), 1.5cm x 3cm (4)
Basic White layers: 4cm x 4cm (2), 4cm x 3cm (2)

Tahitian Tide Miura card

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 5 – Tahitian Tide

Tonight we showcase our fifth new 2022-2024 In Colors, Tahitian Tide!

How do you pronounce Miura? [MEE] + [OOR] + [UH]. When I Googled it, I found that in 1985, Japanese astrophysicist Koryo Miura proposed a form of rigid origami, a style of folding paper (or other materials) that allows each section to remain flat—a necessary condition for stiff materials.

I have been fascinated by this fold style for a while and it was time to give it a go!

Miura Fancy Fold Card using Stampin Up In Color Tahitian Tide for Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan Australia 2022 closed

My card base is the Thick Basic White card and decorated with patterned papers from the new 2022-2024 In Color DSP pack and the Tea Boutique DSP pack. The Scalloped Contour dies was used to cut the white layer and then I used the fancy die from the Happiness Abounds Bundle to create that lovely pattern (notice it doesn’t cut everything out – so pretty). The flowers and leaves are stamped and die cut. The flowers are coloured using the Wink of Stella, taking some ink directly from the inkpad, to add some darker colour. The leaves are coloured with the Parakeet Party Light Stampin’ Blends marker. The sentiment is stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and heat set with the Heat Tool. This was fussy cut with Paper Snips and added on Dimensionals.

This is the card fully open so you can see all the beautiful patterned papers.

The feature on the inside is one flower white embossed and the other stamped on white. Both coloured the same way as the front. This sentiment was done using the Stamparatus. I inked only the word ‘birthday’ with Versamark ink, added White Emboss Powder and heat set it. Place it back in the Stamparatus (ensure you clean the stamp with your Shammy) and ink up the word ‘happy’ with the Tahitian Tide ink and stamp. I actually inked it a second time (benefits of using this amazing tool) to ensure I had enough ink transferred to the card before adding Clear Emboss Powder and heat setting. Fussy cut and glue across the flowers. I love how this looks against the two flowers!

I finished the card by adding some Basic Pearl Jewels!!!

There are quite a few YouTube videos of this fold (search Iced Images or Sam Calcott). I liked how there is a second piece of card added behind so it can stand up to be displayed. I mean who wouldn’t want to display a card like this?!!!!

There is plenty of room on the back of the card to write your message! It fits into a standard envelope for posting, but it may depend on how much dimension you add, if postage may be slightly higher.

Would you give this fancy fold design a go?

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you can join me next week for inspiration using Balmy Blue!

Week 2 – Parakeet Party

Tonight we showcase our second of the new 2022-2024 In Colors, Parakeet Party!
This fancy fold is called a Faceted Diamond Vertical Easel card… try saying that quickly 3 times!!!!
Here is my bright and cheery colour combination for this card, which I gave to my dear mum for Mother’s Day and she loved it! Her favourite colour is green!!

Parakeet Party

This is a card of many angles and yes, it took a little while to create, but it was fun. It just looks like a square card when it is folded flat, measuring 14.5cm x 14.5cm. I have used two designs from the 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 Designer Series Paperv (DSP) in Parakeet Party. Polished Pink cardstock was used to matt the DSP. The leaf is stamped ink Parakeet Party ink and fussy cut with Snips.

and here it is when standing up – the front sits inside the Designer Paper panel on the inside (right) which is raised up on a piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet to create the Easel.

The diamond feature is really cool and looks impressive, doesn’t it?! Can you see the strip of Window Sheet across the diamond where the ladybug on her leaf sit? This gives the image a wonderful floating effect when the card is open and lays flat to post.
