CCBH: Old Olive

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 36 – Old Olive

How are you enjoying the new Mini catalogue?  Have you placed an order and what was your favourite new product?

Today I feature the Planted Paradise stamp set in this very simple card.  I am very limited in my supplies this week, as I cannot get to my cardstock while we don’t have an ensuite. Last week it was totally demolished for a complete rebuild. I’m just glad the 2 days of jack jammering has finished, eek that was loud. Next week the tiling will be done and I’ll be able to access my cardstock again. Anyway enough of my hectic life, back to the card!

The card base is Thick Basic White. The vase is stamped in Pebbled Path ink. The plants are stamped in Old Olive and some also have Pebbled Path ink done with the rock n roll technique, where you ink the image in Old Olive, then roll the stamp on its edges on the Pebbled Path inkpad to get the dual tone, then stamp. Each of these are fussy cut with Paper Snips, some of the plants are cut between the leaves and added behind.

Planted Paradise Rock n Roll Technique card for Old Olive Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2024.

The circle behind the feature, is created using Blending Brushes and Old Olive ink. I die cut a circle (Stylish Shapes dies) from some scrap card as the template. I also flicked some Pebbled Path ink from my Pebbled Path Stampin’ Write Marker. I added the feature pieces on Stampin’ Dimensionals, a Linen Thread bow added on a Glue Dot and some Rhinestone Jewels added on the vase. I have deliberately left off a sentiment until the time comes to use this card. It could be used for any occasion!

Here you can see the splatter and the dimension of the plant.

The Glass Mat Studio is amazing. As a Demonstrator, I was able purchase this early, as it is on offer during Saleabration as part of your joining kit (worth $106!). It is such a wonderful tool. One feature I use it for is ink blending. I tap my inkpad onto the glass, then use the Blending Brushes to pick the ink up. Once done, simply wipe the ink clean with the Cleaning Cloth provided. Another item included is the white Silicone Mat as shown below. Place your open inkpad on it so it doesn’t slide around using your Blending Brushes, while you hold your mask in place. It is great to mix ink colours for watercolouring. More reasons why I love this tool can be seen here.

Lost Lagoon: Fancy Fold with Bee Mine & Fluffiest Friends

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 31 – Lost Lagoon

This week, I have a sneak peek of some new Designer Series Paper to be released in the new January-April Mini Catalogue. I am also featuring product from the Online Exclusives, the Fluffiest Friends Bundle. I love this furry bear with his big red pot of golden honey, it just makes me smile and I had a ball colouring it in. But more about that later.

I realise Lost Lagoon isn’t one of the colours in the Bee Mine Designer Series Paper, but I felt it was a great grounding colour.  I embossed a strip and glued it to the left side and two different patterns of the DSP to the right. The Sweet Sorbet Ribbon & bow was added along with some Adhesive-backed Hearts. The sentiment from the Something Fancy stamp set, was stamped and cut with Paper Snips and added on dimensionals.

The bear is stamped in Smoky Slate ink and coloured using Blends Combo Markers; Gray Granite (D), Crumb Cake (L, D), Daffodil Delight (L, D), Real Red (L, D).  Then using my 35 year old Derwent Pencils, I added the texture of the fur & surrounds. Alisa Tilsner has a paid class on how to do this, but I definitely need a lot more practise.  I die cut it using the Stylish Shapes die.

The front and back panels of the card are our standard A5 size. The card is suspended on the centre mechanism that is scored 3 times to have 4 panels. The Scalloped Contour dies were used to cut the 3 white scalloped panels, the white tag and the scallop border where the white tag fits into.  Some more of the DSP is added to the panels and the 3 jars are cut directly from the patterned paper.

Lemon Lime Twist: Cheerful Daisies Lattice Cards Two Ways

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 30 – Lemon Lime Twist

Today I have two cards for you, both using a lattice technique.

The first one is using the Nested Essentials dies to cut the front of the Thick Very Vanilla card base.  Then I used 1cm strips to create and interweave the pieces from the back of the card. Adding Tear & Tape around the edges of the die cut from behind, helped to hold the strips in place. Once they were done, I cut a piece of the Lemon Lime Twist paper from the Brights 6 x 6 DSP pack, to size to place over the lattice to hide the mess!

Now it’s time to decorate with the Cheerful Daisies stamp set and coordinating dies. The pieces were all cut in Basic White card and coloured with Stampin’ Blends Combo Markers (colours listed below). The top die cut pieces are cut from the Three Colour Glimmer Specialty papers (Highland Heather & Petal Pink).

Decorate the inside with some left over pieces and/or stamped images.

My second card also has a lattice effect, although quite different. I got this idea from Rita Holmes (Ohio USA). I have altered it to metric measurements and used different products. I have used Fresh Freesia and Moody Mauve for this combination.

Heart of Christmas – Fractured/Faux Shutter Card

HOC Blog Header 2023Each Monday, some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our September-December Mini catalogue and Annual catalogue Christmas products.

Heart of Christmas Week 8

Today I am using the Christmas Classics Bundle (stamp set & dies) with the Joyful Specialty Designer Series Paper. The technique I showcase is called a Faux Shutter card or Fractured card.

Fractured Card Technique using Christmas Classics Joyful Specialty Heart of Christmas Blog Hop by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2023

This looks complicated, but it is actually really simple. I cut a piece of the patterned paper measuring 14cm x 10cm. A Gold Foil square was diecut using the Stylish Shapes dies. I also cut a smaller one in Basic White. I glued the gold foil square to the patterned paper. I cut strips of Cherry Cobbler card in 0.8cm lengths. The first strip I glued starting at the left point of the square up to the top. The next one was placed butting up to the previous one and down to the right side. Continue around the card. Once all adhered, turn the DSP over and trim the overhanging strips.

This is then glued to my Cherry Cobbler card base which measures 29cm x 10.5cm, scored at 14.5cm. The Basic White square is now adhered to the gold foil one. I inked the holly image in Versamark and stamped twice onto Basic White card, Gold Emboss Powder added and melted with my Heat Tool. I stamped the berries in Cherry Cobbler ink. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I used my Water Painter and Mossy Meadow ink to colour the holly. This was added to the card on Dimensionals. A Gold Ribbon Trim bow was added with a Glue Dot.

The theme is continued inside the card and a larger sentiment from the Joy to You stamp set.

Here is a second one I made with a different pattern from the DSP pack.

Sea Turtle with Babywipe Technique and a Baby card using Little Dreamers Bundle

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 15 – Cajun Craze

Today I am using a newly purchased stamp set, Sea Turtle, and using the Babywipe Technique and some water colouring. After being inspired by Andrea Sargent at our recent 35yr event, she demonstrated her water colouring technique, I was really keen to have another go!

Cajun Craze Blog Hop

I started with the Fluid 100 Watercolor paper and applied a layer of water using my wider Water Painter. Picking up some Coastal Cabana ink I dabbed it onto the water and let it spread. I repeated this process with the Pretty Peacock and Blueberry Bushel inks. As the colours blended together beautifully, I used the Heat Tool to dry it and move some of colours in the process. I took the Water Painter again, picked up some Pretty Peacock ink and tapped it on my fingers to add some splotches, then set it aside to dry.

The next step was to fold two babywipes and place them on a paper plate. Adding some ink refill drops in the four colours to create my own ‘inkpad’. Press the tutle stamps onto the babywipes then onto some Basic White card. Just look at the gorgeous colours you get!

These were fussy cut using Paper Snips. Once I had 3 little tutrles, I placed them onto my Versamark inkpad to cover them entirely, then into some Clear Emboss Powder and melt it with the Heat Tool.

The starfish are stamped in Cajun Craze ink onto Basic White card. I took a Blending Brush and lightly added some extra colour before using Paper Snips to cut them out. The Gorgeously Made dies were used for the plant life. One I left white and the other added some light  watercolouring.

To assemble, I have a Thick Basic White card base and the watercolour piece is added to the centre using Tear & Tape. I find this nice and strong to keep the paper flat. The frame is slightly smaller than the card base and cut the centre with the Deckled Rectangle die, before running it through my Cut & Emboss Machine in the Timeworn Type 3D TIEF. I glued the plants onto the card first then the frame added with Tear & Tape. The linen thread bow was added on a glue dot and the starfish on a dimensional. The smaller starfish is glued down. Each of the turtles are added on a dimensional. The sentiment is from the Waves of Inspiration stamp set and some Tinsel Gems dotted around.

On the inside, I added an insert with some fish stamped across the bottom, a large turtle and  some more starfish!

My next card has a little more Cajun Craze on it than the above card. I recently purchased the Little Dreamers Bundle and thought the lion would be perfect in Cajun Craze!

I stamped the Rays of Light stamp in Crushed Curry ink onto Basic White card. The Regals 6″x6″ DSP was cut to size I wanted to allow for a narrow border on the card base. I used the Deckled Circles dies (new in upcoming Mini catalogue) to cut out a circle. I added Dimensionals to the back of the DSP and cut the Rays of Light down to fit underneath. This raised the top layer as you can see below. I stamped the lion and used the dies to cut it out. I inked the star only in Crushed Curry ink and cut it out too and added it with a dimensional for added height.

Little Dreamers Baby card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2023 Cajun Craze Colour Creations Blog Hop

These images were coloured gently with my Water Painter and inkpads. I also added Wink of Stella to the lions mane & tip of the tail and the star. It’s hard to see in the photo.  The lion is added on dimensionals and I added some extra little stars from the same die set. The White Herringbone Ribbon was added and some Linen Thread tied is a bow.

On the inside a sentiment is stamped and fussy cut to partially sit over a strip of DSP (this is the reverside side of the DSP on the front of the card).

Blueberry Bushel Gingham Die Cut Inlay Technique

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 14 – Blueberry Bushel

Today I have chosen to focus on the Die Cut Inlay Technique, where you use a die such as the Gorgeous Garden dies, and cut it a few times from different card/DSP.  I have used Basic White for the main die, and glued it to a pieced of Blueberry Bushel card. Then I die cut the same die with the Glorious Gingham 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I took the petal pieces out and glued them into the white layer. Yes, it takes a little bit of time, but the effect is so beautiful and it makes it easier using the Take Your Pick Tool with the putty tip (or tweezers).

Die Cut Inlay Technique card using Stampin Up Gorgeous Garden dies by Kate Morgan Australia 2023 Blueberry Bushel

For the centres of the flowers, initially I was going to use a yellow tone cardstock, but then remembered I had some of the gold More Dazzle Specialty paper. I actually cut small squares of this and placed them on the back of the die where the centres of the flowers are, and carefully placed the top acrylic plate on and ran it through my die cutting machine. I mean you can’t waste that gorgeous dazzle, right?!!!

The sentiment from Charming Sentiments Stamp Set is inked in Versamark, White Emboss Powder added and melted using the Heat Tool. It is cut out using the coordinating Sentiments Silhouette dies. Some Gold 1/8″ Trim is placed behind and then Dimensionals so it pops up on the card. On the inside, I have a Basic White layer with some gingham dsp along the bottom edge.

Countryside Corners Trifold card with Tutorial!

Today I have a Trifold card using the Countryside Corners dies to create the card base.

When I initially came up with my first card design in Soft Succulent tones (you can see it here), I had so many lovely comments and people asking how I made it. Well today, while I’m on Annual Leave for the school holidays, I had time to try and recreate it, however, I found an easier way. The tutorial link will be listed below.

Countryside Corners Trifold card Tutorial using Dainty Delight by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2023

I just love the Dry Brushed Metallic 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper with that gorgeous gold, and those pretty Dainty Delight die cut flowers!

Let’s open this card to see what is inside. The Dry Brushed Metallic Specialty DSP was used with one of the smaller size dies and it is so pretty! The Dainty Delight dies and Grove dies were used to cut the flowers and leaves for this panel using Calypso Coral, Lemon Lolly and Lost Lagoon. The Basic White background is cut using the Something Fancy dies.

Introducing Bubble Bath

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 7 – Bubble Bath

Today brings us to a new core colour to the Subtles Collection, Bubble Bath. This gorgeous pale pink is definitely a favourite of mine!

I wanted to stick to pastel tones today and decided on this combination; Boho Blue, Bubble Bath and Lemon Lolly.  I used the alcohol ink blending technique, by taking the Stampin’ Blends Combo Markers in these colours and scribbled them onto a piece of Vellum. Using some Isocol Rubbing Alcohol, I dripped it gently over the vellum, then took a straw and blew the alcohol around to blend the colours a little and set it aside to dry.

Ink Blending Technique Bubble Bath colour creations blog hop 2023 by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2023

Using the Gorgeous Garden die, I cut a piece of Basic White card. I had a frame piece of Bubble Bath card left over from a previous project, so that was glued over the border to frame the white die cut piece. Now the vellum is dry, I glued it behind for a lovely soft background.  This is now glued to a Bubble Bath card base.

Ink Blending Technique Bubble Bath colour creations blog hop 2023 by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2023 happy birthday

The Nested Essential dies was used to cut a Bubble Bath piece to put my sentiment on. This ‘happy birthday’ from the Wanted to Say dies, was cut from Basic Black card and Silver Foil and popped up on Black Dimensionals. A piece of Bubble Bath Sheer Ribbon is placed behind and the Nested die cut is added on top with Dimensionals. To finish I added a few drops of Metallic Effects Basics (Silver) and set it aside to dry.

Dies: Gorgeous Garden, Nested Essentials, Wanted to Say

Introducing Moody Mauve

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 3 – Moody Mauve

Today brings us to the third new In Color, Moody Mauve. I have two cards today and my first one uses the Patchwork Pieces dies, Radiating Stitches dies, Wanted to Say dies and the Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper.

Patchwork Pieces Fresh as a Daisy card by Kate Morgan stampin Up Australia 2023 Moody Mauve

A Moody Mauve card base with a Bubble Bath layer cut with the Radiating Stitches die is added. The heart is also from this same die pack. The next layer is Very Vanilla. The Patchwork dies are cut from Bubble Bath card and again with some Fresh as a Daisy patterned paper. These are adhered alternating to get this beautiful Patchwork effect. The Wanted to Say dies cut both layers of the ‘celebrate’ and how good do they look?!!! I added a double bow of Linen Thread adhered to the heart and some In Color Dots to finish it off.

On the inside, I added a Very Vanilla piece with some of the extra Patchwork pieces and a heart in the corner, still leaving plenty of room for your message. Can you believe that I haven’t used any ink or stamps on this card?!

My next card I have used the Countryside Corners dies to make an Easel card. The Cheerful Daisies bundle is a beauty and you can see lots of it used on this fun fancy fold card.

Cheerful Daisies Easel Card by Kate Morgan, Stmpin Up Australia 2023

I have had a few people recently ask me how I created these card bases using these dies, so here you go – I hope you can follow this!

To create the card base, fold your cardbase in half. Take the largest die from the Countryside Corners dies and place the folded edge on top of the die, so the cutting edge is outside the card (see image below). It’s best to use some washi tape to hold it in place.  Carefully place your top acrylic cutting plate and run through your die cutting machine.

Now you have your card base. Open it up and place it in your Trimmer and using the scoring blade, score a line down the centre of one side (see image below). Fold this in half (valley fold) and this is the top of your card. Cut another piece of card using the same large die. Add glue to the bottom half only of the front panel and attach this extra die cut to create the easel.

On the inside, you can see a layer of Bubble Bath behind the Basic White, a stamped flower and silver foil foliage. The sentiment is popped up on dimensionals so the card front sits behind it creating the easel effect!

Are you wondering where to write your message? Well, on the back there’s plenty of room when you use a White card base!

Handy Tip – if you want to heat emboss in a colour that you don’t have the powder for, use the Stamparatus to firstly ink the stamp in Versamark then the ink pad colour of choice, then add Clear Emboss Powder and melt it with your Heat Tool. This also helps when colouring with Blends Combo (alcohol) markers and prevents bleeding!

The sentiment on the front was stamped three times using the Stamparatus to get a nice dark colour. Using Blending Brushes to add ink to the feature oval on the front of the card gives a softer touch.

This card idea was case’d from a card by Mikaela Titheridge (UK). I just loved her design and thinking outside the box and turning those carrots upside down to create trees! Here in Melbourne, we sort of missed our Spring season, as it was very wet and cooler than normal. We now have Summer arrive with some crazy heatwaves.

I took a piece of Thick Basic White card and die cut it using the Stitched Rectangle dies. I did my Balmy Blue watercolour wash for the sky and and stamped the grass in Pear Pizzazz and Garden Green. The flowers are Poppy Parade. The trees are stamped in Shaded Spruce and the trunks are Soft Suede, using the tip of the smaller carrot stamp! I took two smaller dies and placed them over the image and added a little washi tape to the smaller one to hold it in place. Carefully remove the larger one and run the card through your die cutting machine.

With that slightly larger die, cut a Pear Pizzazz layer. I adhered the centre piece to the Pear Pizzazz layer and then both onto the main stamped panel, before adhering it to a Shaded Spruce card base. On the inside and the envelope, I stamped some grass, flowers and a couple of the smaller carrots for trees! The sentiment is stamped and fussy cut with Snips and added with Mini Dimensionals. I coloured some Rhinestone Basic Jewels with my Dark Poppy Parade Blends Marker and added them amongst the flowers. Do you see them?
