Introducing Copper Clay

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 2 – Copper Clay

Today brings us to the next new In Color, Copper Clay. This colour reminds me of the orangutan’s at the zoo, so I have gone with the Little Monkey bundle again.  This card is fairly simple, great for a beginner crafter; with some punch art and easy colouring. These two little monkeys are having so much fun swinging from the branch!

Little Monkey Copper Clay card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2023

A Copper Clay card base, with a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock as the matt layer. A piece of Basic White to stamp the tree branch and colour using the In Color Stampin’ Write Marker (Copper Clay) and the leaves are all coloured using Parakeet Party Blends Combo Markers. The outline of the leaves at the bottom are stamped in Granny Apple Green ink.

The monkeys face and ears are punched from Lemon Lolly card that I lightly coloured using a Blending Brush and Copper Clay ink.  How cute are they hanging by their tails from the branch?!!! The sentiment is stamped and fussy cut with Paper Snips and added with Mini Dimensionals.

Soft Suede: Just Swinging By

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 50 – Soft Suede

Today brings us to the end of our 50 Stampin’ Up! colours. I hope you have enjoyed the journey?!  But it’s not really the end, as we will start again next week with some brand new In Colors available in the new Annual catalogue available on 2 May!!!

Today’s card features a new bundle in the upcoming Annual Catalogue, Little Monkey. This is  photopolymer stamp set and coordinating Punch bundle. I am also mixing things up with Soft Suede that is retiring on 1 May, Lemon Lime Twist is returning to the Bright’s collection and Lemon Lolly is a brand new colour for the Subtle’s collection!

Colour Combination - Soft Suede

A Soft Suede card base with a Lemon Lime Twist layer die cut using the Radiating Stitches dies (Online exclusives product only). The smaller layer also is from this die set and cut in Shimmery White cardstock (sadly retiring soon). Don’t adhere this layer until you’re ready to put it all together.

Little Monkey Interactive card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2023

I stamped the tree images twice onto the Shimmery White layer and coloured the trunk with the Light Soft Suede Blends Marker. The leaves I coloured with the Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write Marker. The monkey I stamped on a separate piece of Shimmery White cardstock and coloured it with the Ivory & Soft Suede Blends Combo Markers.

Little Monkey Interactive card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2023 close up

I punched it out along with an extra Soft Suede one, which I adhered them together with glue to make it a little more sturdy. I adhered a tiny 5mm round magnet to the back of the tail. I placed a second magnet on the back of the tree where the monkey will hang from. I didn’t glue it, it just stays there as long as you don’t pull the monkey off the front. I added Dimensionals to the back of the Shimmery White layer and around the magnet so it doesn’t move too far. Remove the paper backings and adhere this layer to your card.

The banana I stamped with Soft Suede ink on the new Lemon Lolly cardstock and fussy cut it with Paper Snips, then adhered it to the monkey’s arm with glue. Lemon Lolly’s the perfect colour!

Here is the little swinging monkey – isn’t it cute?!!! (sorry about the bandaid on my finger)

On the inside, I die cut some Lemon Lolly card with the same die as the front and added some stamping. You can see the envelope is stamped too!

Here are all the retiring colours that will leave as the refresh takes place with the new Annual catalogue. But rest assured, there are lots of new colours coming to be excited about. If you want any product in these colours, get it now as they are selling fast!

Friendly Gnomes Love Ya

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 46 – Smoky Slate

Today’s card I wanted to use the Friendly Gnomes stamp set. I stamped the gnome in Smoky Slate using the Stamparatus. Then I stamped over the top with Versamark ink, added Clear Emboss Powder and melted it with my heat tool. This makes it easier to colour to contain the bleeding, when using Stampin’ Blends Markers.

Smoky Slate Mint Macaron White & Silver Foil

My card base is Smoky Slate. I took some Silver Foil and added some Country Gingham DSP in Mint Macaron. Then I cut the circle with the 2″ Circle Punch (which has returned as part of the Online Exclusive products, yay)! This was then glued to the card base.

Conversation Bubbles Friendly Gnomes by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2023 Smoky Slate CCBH.

I coloured the Gnome with Stampin’ Blends Combo (alcohol) markers; Mint Macaron, Smoky Slate, Real Red, Basic Black & SU1000. The Conversation Bubbles Bundle was used to create the Luv Ya sentiment.

On the inside I used the Blending Brushes to add Mint Macaron around the edges, stamped the flower and added an offcut of the patterned paper. The flowers were coloured with the same colours as the gnome, but I used the Chalk marker to add the white to the centres.

Some Wink of Stella is added to the party hat and eyes of the owl. Polished Pink In Color Jewels were added for more sparkle. The Basic White insert is stamped with Polished Pink ink and a narrow strip of DSP added across the bottom.

My next card also uses the Adorable Owls along with the Dainty Delight Bundle. The Basic Border Dies were used the cut the edge of the front of the card, before dry embossing it with the Pretty Flowers Embossing folder.

I die cut the Polished Pink flowers and the Gold Foil centres and the leaves. Two of these were cut and joined together to create the wreath effect. The flowers are popped up on Mini Dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and melted using the Heat Tool. Then it was die cut using the banner die from the Stylish Shapes dies. This was also added on Dimensionals. The owl is stamped and fussy cut using Paper Snips and coloured using Stampin’ Blends Markers; Pool Party (Dark), Pale Papaya (Dark), SU500, SU600 & SU700. Some of the Fine Tip Glue was added to the eyes for extra shine!

Dainty Flowers Cascading Gatefold Card

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 36 – Pear Pizzazz

Today I have a really fun fancy fold card for you; the Cascading Gatefold card!

The Dainty Flowers DSP is a Level 1 Sale•a•bration (SAB) reward, which can be earned for free with a $90+ product order during SAB (5 Jan- 28 Feb ’23). I have also used the Framed Florets Bundle, so if you purchase this bundle, you can get the papers for free. Believe me, you are going to want these frame dies!!!

Slide the belly band off the card to reveal this cascading feature. The Pear Pizzazz embossed pieces are the Fern 3D textured impressions embossing folder.

You can pull the cascading section forward to sit nicely to display.

Are you wondering where to write your message? Well, on the back there’s plenty of room when you use a White card base!

Handy Tip – if you want to heat emboss in a colour that you don’t have the powder for, use the Stamparatus to firstly ink the stamp in Versamark then the ink pad colour of choice, then add Clear Emboss Powder and melt it with your Heat Tool. This also helps when colouring with Blends Combo (alcohol) markers and prevents bleeding!

The sentiment on the front was stamped three times using the Stamparatus to get a nice dark colour. Using Blending Brushes to add ink to the feature oval on the front of the card gives a softer touch.

The Thanks a Bunch stamp set is a Level 1 Sale•a•bration (SAB) item, which can be earned for free with a $90+ product order.

This card idea was case’d from a card by Mikaela Titheridge (UK). I just loved her design and thinking outside the box and turning those carrots upside down to create trees! Here in Melbourne, we sort of missed our Spring season, as it was very wet and cooler than normal. We now have Summer arrive with some crazy heatwaves.

Thanks a Bunch alternate card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia SAB 2023.

I took a piece of Thick Basic White card and die cut it using the Stitched Rectangle dies. I did my Balmy Blue watercolour wash for the sky and and stamped the grass in Pear Pizzazz and Garden Green. The flowers are Poppy Parade. The trees are stamped in Shaded Spruce and the trunks are Soft Suede, using the tip of the smaller carrot stamp! I took two smaller dies and placed them over the image and added a little washi tape to the smaller one to hold it in place. Carefully remove the larger one and run the card through your die cutting machine.

Thanks a Bunch alternate card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia SAB 2023 layers

With that slightly larger die, cut a Pear Pizzazz layer. I adhered the centre piece to the Pear Pizzazz layer and then both onto the main stamped panel, before adhering it to a Shaded Spruce card base. On the inside and the envelope, I stamped some grass, flowers and a couple of the smaller carrots for trees! The sentiment is stamped and fussy cut with Snips and added with Mini Dimensionals. I coloured some Rhinestone Basic Jewels with my Dark Poppy Parade Blends Marker and added them amongst the flowers. Do you see them?

Week 34 – Pacific Point

Tomorrow the excitement continues with the release of the new January – April Mini catalogue and Sale•a•bration (5 Jan-28 Feb), where you earn free product with every $90 that you spend! Do you have a list of products that you have your eyes on? Tonight, I’ll share a suite that I fell in love with straight away when I saw this new catalogue we received at our event in Sydney in mid-November.

The By The Bay Suite has a Seaside Bay stamp set & dies bundle, Balmy Blue & White Ribbon, Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls embellishments and some stunning By the Bay SDSP with gold foiling and Pearl Coating on it!

My card tonight, I’m using the designer papers and the Seaside Bay Bundle.

By the Bay SDSP 2023

I started with a Pacific Point 29cm x 10.5cm card base, folded in half at 14.5cm. I cut 3 strips of different papers that measure 14cm x 3cm and glued them to the card front.

Seaside Bay card for Pacific Point CCBH by Kate Morgan Stampin Up Australia 2023

I die cut the shell twice in Gold Foil and glued them together. The sentiment is stamped on Basic White card and a banner cut on the left using Paper Snips, before sponging Pacific Point ink around the edges with a sponge dauber. This was glued to the card and the shell on top with a Flat Adhesive-backed Pearl added.

On the inside, I added a Basic White card insert, sponged the edges and added an offcut of the DSP and some Pacific Point card to the bottom edge, along with a couple of smaller Gold Foil shells.

You can buy this stamp & die bundle and earn a free item during Sale•a•bration from tomorrow. One of these items is the appropriately named, Adorable Owls stamp set.

Fitting Florets meets Adorable Owls

Happy New Year everyone. I hope you have recovered from the festive season and are looking forward to a big 2023! With the excitement looming with the release of the new January – April Mini catalogue and Sale•a•bration (5 Jan-28 Feb) on 5 January, I thought I’d pop by and share some cute cards I’ve made using the Adorable Owls stamp set (Level 1 SAB offering).

The images are stamped in Black Memento ink on Basic White card and coloured with Pool Party, Pale Papaya, Light SU900 & Medium SU500 Combo Blends Markers. They are die cut with the Layering Circles Framelits dies and the scallop circle layer is cut in card.

Fitting Florets meet Adorable Owl by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia SAB 2023.

The Fitting Florets DSP which I’ve used in the background, will be retiring tomorrow, so if you need it (like I did), you’ll need to get moving and place your order 😆  I adore this particular sheet with the Night of Navy and Polished Pink design. I cut a Basic White layer slightly smaller than the card front, then the DSP slightly smaller again. I cut 4cm off the bottom of the DSP and flipped it over to have the reverse pattern showing. Glue these to the white layer then wrap a piece of Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon around and across where the DSP joins. Now it can be glued to the card base.

Week 33 – Old Olive

This is our final Colour Creations blog hop for 2022, but I hope you will join us again on 4 January 2023 when we return!

Today, I have used the Cottage Rose Bundle with the coordinating Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper. I have gone with some neutrals in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso with Old Olive. All of the feature images are stamped and die cut from Crumb Cake card. The sentiment and main floral image are stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and heat set. I really like using the “Best Wishes” sentiment, as it can be for many occasions; birthday, sympathy, farewell, wedding, etc.

Best Wishes card using Stampin Up Cottage Rose Bundle by Kate Morgan, Australia 2022

I used my Dark Crumb Cake Blends Marker around the edges of the main image so it really stands out! I used a sponge dauber to add Early Espresso ink around the sentiment which is cut using the Double Oval Punch as well as on the tips of the die cut flowers behind the focal image.

The card base is Old Olive. The next layer is a piece of the DSP cut with the largest die in the Stitched Rectangle dies, then I coloured the leaves with the Light Old Olive Blends Marker. I took a Blending Brush and added ink across the whole DSP piece. I inked one side of the Merry Melody 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with Early Espresso, placed the DSP inside and ran it through my Emboss machine. Then I used the dauber to add ink around the edges before gluing to the card base. Some printed Vellum Layering Designs was added to soften the background.

A Silver piece of Simply Elegant Trim was pulled apart to separate all the fibres. This was something that Shelli Gardner (cofounder of Stampin’ Up!) shared with us during our recent demonstrator only event and it’s such a neat trick!

Pretty Birds say hello

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 19 – Evening Evergreen

Today I am using a bundle that is new to me, the Pretty Birds Bundle which includes the Pretty Birds Stamp Set and the Birdhouse Dies. I just love the bird cage die and I had to use it with Gold Foil Sheets.

When I was a kid, I had two budgies, Sky and Matilda. They loved it when I would take the cage outside and hang in the trees to be with nature. They would chirp away happily. So, that was the inspiration for this card, with the Happy Forest Friends Designer Series Paper in the background. I found it a little too much and the cage got lost, so I added a layer of vellum over the DSP to tone it down.

Pretty Birds for Evening Evergreen CCBH by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

I took a piece of the Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper and using the Water Painters, added some Evening Evergreen and Parakeet Party ink. Once it was dry, I stamped the budgie a couple of times with Memento Black ink. Because the colour wasn’t bold enough once dry, I used my Daffodil Delight, Parakeet Party and Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blends Markers to strengthen the colour. Once I die cut the birds, I also die cut the perch in Evening Evergreen card and added them to the vellum. The cage is popped up on mini dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped and added on min dimensionals also. The leaves are die cut from the leftover water-coloured paper and Evening Evergreen card. These were added with Multipurpose glue. Once everything was adhered to the vellum, I flipped it over and added glue behind all the die cut pieces so it doesn’t show through.

On the inside I stamped the smaller birdhouse and attached a water-coloured bow and another budgie.

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 16 – Crushed Curry

Crushed Curry is certainly not my favourite yellow colour, as I find it a bit dark and hard to use. I wanted to add some much needed sunshine to our lives, as it’s been very cold and wet Winter here in Melbourne. Using the Rays of Light stamp set with the Stamparatus, I began inking and stamping onto Basic White card a couple of times to get a more even coverage. I felt it was a little too big and so cropped it with one of the Deckled Rectangle dies and another to cut the Crushed Curry matt layer. These are glued together and adhered to the card base (Tea Boutique Cards & Envelopes).

Just look how much fun this hippo is having, splashing water everywhere!!!

Sunshine Hippo Splash card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

The hippo is stamped in Memento Black ink and coloured using Stampin’ Blends Combo Markers; Smoky Slate & Medium Combo. The snorkel and water are die cut from Tahitian Tide cardstock. The sentiment (Charming Sentiments Bundle) is stamped and die cut using the coordinating dies. This is added with Dimensionals, as it the Tub, cut from Distressed Gold Specialty paper. Doesn’t it give a lovely rusty/distressed look?!!

I couldn’t resist adding some bubbles spilling over the side and I did this using the Pearlized Enamel Effects Basics White.
