Colour Creations: Around the Corner with Blackberry Bliss

Hello Crafters,

Welcome to another Art With Heart Team Colour Creations weekly Blog Hop. This week we are featuring a returning colour, Blackberry Bliss!!!

How pretty are these Delicate Lace Edgelits dies?!!! I have die cut them in Blackberry Bliss card stock and glued them to the front of the Balmy Blue card. Next I stamped the sentiment from the Around the Corner stamp set.

Animal Outings, Around the Corner, Delicate Lace Edgelits, Stampin Up 2018 by Kate Morgan Australia..JPG

The Animal Outings bundle is so Australian with its choice of animals, but today I’m using the cute little rhino. Those lace edgelits remind me of the skin of the rhino so I felt it appropriate to stamp it and cut it with the coordinating Animal Friends thinlits. Loving that there are coordinating thinlits for this stamp set.

I coloured the rhino and the little bird with Stampin’ Blends Markers, then added it with an action/wobble accessory… it’s like a spring and it makes him move. These are very easy to make by punching 2 small circles of card stock and wrapping some thin craft wire around a pen/marker 3 or 4 times. Remove the wire from the pen, cut the wire from the roll and using some tape, add each end of your coil to a circle. Place the action wobble behind your rhino with some glue and add it to your card.

Don’t forget to stamp the inside of the card too. Here is have used the sentiments from Around the Corner, perfect detail for a birthday card.

Blog Hop: Casing the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue with Animal Outings

35650140_10216367116633139_6605810454600089600_n

Dear Crafters,

Tonight the Art with Heart team are sharing creative projects CASED from the annual catalogue. If you would like a copy of the 2018 – 2019 annual catalogue, contact any of the girls on the blog hop and we will get in touch with you.

If you’re already hopping, then you just came to me from the lovely, Kathryn Ruddick. If you’re just joining, great! Use the “next” button at the end of my post to hop all the way around. Blog Hops are full circles, so you can start hopping here and then at the end of each post there is a link to the next one. There is also a list of participants at the end in case of any broken links.

Now let’s get started!

At OnStage in April, we got the Animal Outings stamp set in our bags when we arrived and I couldn’t have been more pleased. I think everyone who attended the event were super excited that we had some Aussie animal friend images.

The other great news once we got our hands on the catalogue, was that there are coordinating framelits so we don’t have to fussy cut each of the images, super exciting! So when 1st June came around, those framelits were first on my order.

I have cased my cards from page 26 of the catalogue.

Animal Outings welcome card, Stampin Up by Kate Morgan, Australia, 2018..JPG

The base card is the new Granny Apple Green with the leaves die cut in Shaded Spruce. The banners are from the Nature’s Poem DSP and that small scallop edge is Blackberry Bliss (a returning colour) cut with the Decorative Ribbon Border punch. I coloured the kangaroo & koala with Stampin’ Blends and popped it up on dimensionals.

See that little Blackberry Bliss heart? It was actually an extra piece left over when the rhino was die cut and I trimmed it slightly. The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede ink.

Animal Outings Rhino die_2018.jpg

My next card uses the cute giraffe, again coloured with Stampin’ Blends. I’ve used So Saffron as my card base so the giraffe would stand out more. I’ve also used Crumb Cake and Soft Sea Foam. I love this die cut background.

The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White and cut out with the Tailored Tag punch. The branches were coloured with a Blender Pen and inkpads and added with Tombo multipurpose glue.

This last card is cased from page 48 of the catalogue (below) and it is my favourite.

I wanted to make it sweet and feminine, so I have used some of the Petal Promenade DSP and a Pearlised Doilie to soften the tone along with lots of different embellishments.

Animal Outings Rhino & Petal Promenade DSP Stampin Up 2018 by Kate Morgan Australia.JPG

I stamped the rhino image repeatedly across the background of the new colour, Gray Granite, card base in the coordinating ink pad. A banner of the Petal Promenade DSP was glued down over the doilie, then a thin banner of Silver Glimmer paper. The rhino is added with dimensionals.

The Share What You Love Artisan Pearls, White Dotted Tulle and a White Baker’s Twine bow finish it off nicely.

Thinking of You Fancy Fold with Nature’s Poem DSP

Dear Crafters,

Today I share my own design Fancy Fold card using Designer Series Paper!

No more hoarding DSP in my house this year, I need to use it and this style is perfect. You can use any of the Designer papers in the Stampin’ Up! range to create all types of cards and the best part is you can get 2 cards from 1 sheet of 12″ x 12″!

Each card measures 12″ x 6″ scored at 1¾”, 4¾”, 7¾” and it fits into our C6 envelopes.

Fun Fold Nature's Poem DSP, Rooted in Nature Stampin Up Thinking of You Card by Kate Morgan, Australia 2018

Here it is fully open. The first fold is glued down to the front of the card. Depending on the reverse design of your paper, it can give a striking effect as seen here. This also makes the card stronger. I didn’t want to put a large piece of card in the centre to write the message for two reasons, I didn’t want to cover up that gorgeous paper and secondly I cut it down to fit behind the large sentiment when the card is closed.

Just look at those leaves ♥ I am so in love with the new Big Shot Embossing Mats! Not only did I emboss the leaves on the white message piece, but also embossed them in coordinating coloured card and then die cut them to add even more texture to the front of the card.

Varied Vases with the Stamparatus!

Dear Crafters,

Today I share a card we made at my recent classes. This was a simple design to show my ladies how to use the Stamparatus (stamp positioning tool).

Varied Vases Stampin Up Feminine Card by Kate Morgan, Australia

We inked the floral outlines in Basic Gray, stamping it once, moved the hinged plate down one notch and stamp again and repeat. On another plate we had the shelf inked in Smoky Slate ink. Then on the reverse of the first plate, we inked up the flowers in 3 different colours; Petal Pink, Coastal Cabana & Highland Heather. We punched out some vases in 3 of the new in colours; Blueberry Bushel, Lovely Lipstick & Pineapple Punch and added them with dimensionals.

Blog Hop: In Colors

Blog Hop In Colour.jpg

Dear Crafters,

Tonight the Art with Heart team are sharing creative projects featuring “in color” theme. Check out the new 2018 – 2020 in colors and lets not forget the current 2017 – 2019 in colors. If you would like a copy of the 2018-2019 annual catalogue, contact any of the girls on the blog hop and we will get in touch with you.

If you’re already hopping, then you just came to me from Rebecca Jacovou. If you’re just joining, great! Use the “next” button at the end of my post to hop all the way around. Blog Hops are full circles, so you can start hopping here and then at the end of each post there is a link to the next one. There is also a list of participants at the end in case of any broken links.

Now let’s get started!

I am so excited about the new upcoming in colors, they are just so bright and cheery and I love them all. They are just like a rainbow of colour and that makes me happy, so my first two cards use the 2018-2020 in colors!

This first card I have just cut panels of card and glued them to a piece of Very Vanilla card then glued it to the front of the Lovely Lipstick (my favourite in colour!) card base. A piece of Dotted Ribbon was placed across the centre. The sentiment is stamped onto a die cut from the Stitched Shapes Framelits and added with dimensionals.

Sentiment of My Heart In Color Blog Hop 2018 Stampin Up Annual catalogue by Kate Morgan Australia

This stamped sentiment is the Stampin’ Up! Statement of the Heart and it says everything to me and everyone else on this blog hop, what crafting means to us. Isn’t it beautiful??!

This next one is also using these same in colors; Blueberry Bushel, Call Me Clover, Grapefruit Grove, Lovely Lipstick & Pineapple Punch. The new Handwritten background stamp was placed in the Stamparatus to get this 3-toned effect. The Stampartus made it so much easier to ink up the sections starting with the lightest to the darkest, lining up the image perfectly. And if you haven’t got the crisp image and miss a little, you can ink it up again and re-stamp!

2018 In Color Blog Hop Handwritten Love What You Do Thank You card Stampin Up Annual catalogue by Kate Morgan Australia

The sentiment and flower image are from the Love What You Do stamp set. Can you see the Wink of Stella on those petals? So pretty! I added some gingham ribbon and Faceted Dots.

2018 In Color Blog Hop Handwritten Love What You Do Thank You card Stampin Up Annual catalogue by Kate Morgan Australia.

This next card uses Berry Burst & Powder Pink, 2017-2019 in colors, paired with Whisper White. Again I used the Stamparatus for the sentiment, but stamping it in Powder Pink, then using the Berry Burst Stampin’ Write marker to apply ink to the bottom of the sentiment end re-stamping for that dual tone.

Abstract Impressions Stampin Up 2018 Butterfly with handmade bead by Kate Morgan Australia

I have used the new Abstract Impressions bundle which will be available on 1st June. I was worried when the Butterflies thinlits were retiring, so this bundle was a must have for me! I really wanted the butterfly to be the feature, so I die cut the image in Berry Burst card and the floral image in Whisper White, the same as the card base.

Abstract Impressions Stampin Up 2018 Butterfly with handmade bead by Kate Morgan, Australia

Check out the centre of the butterfly. Can you see what I’ve done? It’s like a handmade bead! I cut a 4½” strip of DSP, tapered off at one end. Add some glue and roll it up around a skewer. Leaving the bead on the skewer, I then added some Fine Tip glue over the entire thing to make it shiny (a bit hard to tell in the photo) and let it dry overnight across the top of a bowl before adding it to my butterfly. I glued a little twine in the top for its antennae.

Thanks for visiting today.

Masculine Thank You with the Nature’s Poem Suite

Dear Crafters,

Today I share a couple of cards using the new Nature’s Poem Suite; Rooted in Nature stamp set, Nature’s Roots Framelits, Nature’s Poem DSP. I am so excited this stamp set has coordinating framelits to cut out the images. No more fussy cutting!

I love how the background piece of DSP brings so much dimension to a card. I stamped some of the leaves on it with Crumb Cake ink and wow, it brings it to life.

Rooted in Nature Thank You Stampin Up 2018 by Kate Morgan Australia..JPG

The tree image is stamped in Shaded Spruce, a new colour arriving on 1 June. This particular image is stamped off once, but you will see the full strength image in my next card (no wasting from me!!!). I love the large banner behind with the Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Embossing on it. A piece of vellum, sponged with ink gives an antique look and is punched with the Starburst punch.

Rooted in Nature Thank You Stampin Up 2018 by Kate Morgan, Australia.

This card uses a darker piece of Designer Series Paper from the Nature’s Poem pack. With the full strength tree image, I felt it needed a darker base. I added a thin banner of Shaded Spruce card behind the larger banner.

Love What You Do & Share What You Love Designer Paper cards

Dear Crafters,

Today I share some cards that we made at my craft class on Saturday, where we made 6 cards each!

From 1 sheet of Speciality Designer Series Paper, you can make 8 of these cards. This double sided paper is stunning on both sides, you want to make the most of it, so by making cards in this style, you get to see both sides and enjoy the shimmer it has on the patterns.

I got my inspiration for these from Creating Success with Rhonda Wade on FB, but I changed up the measurements to suit our Australian card format to fit into our C6 envelopes.

Love What You Do & Share What You Love Specialty DSP Stampin Up by Kate Morgan Australia

Cut the Designer Paper at 5-7/8″ and then cut that piece into 4 equal parts, 3″ wide each so you end up with 4 pieces of 5-7/8″ x 3″. Ensure if there is a design on the paper that is directional, you cut it the correct way and be sure to check the reverse side!

Next, take an A4 sheet of coordinating card stock and place it in your trimmer with the short side to the top and cut it at 5-1/2″. Place that strip to the side for later. Rotate the card 90 degrees and cut at 5-7/8″. Place the 5-1/2″ side to the top of the trimmer or Simply Scored and score at 4-1/8″. Cut a strip of black card measuring 5-7/8″ x 3/4″. Add a strip of Tear & Tape down the inside flap of the main card and add the strip of black making sure you line it up straight to show the right amount of black you would like showing. Place the DSP on the card lining it up with the card base on the right had side. Add a strip of Tear & Tape down the left side and holding it all firmly in place so it doesn’t move, fold over the card flap and press to seal and there you have your card. Now decorate as you wish. I have used the Starburst punch and the 2″ circle punch and stamped on it.

Click here for the link to my written tutorial!

Here is that same card open to see the reverse side of the paper. How could you stick that to a card and not see it?!!! This is the perfect card style to show it off!
