Water Stamping and today’ plan… Cocktails!

Tonight’s card is from a recent ATC Swap I took part in and the technique was Water Stamping! I had never heard this term before, so was excited to give it a try. There are loads of videos out there if you want to Google it.

The base card I randomly stamped the word ‘Cocktails’ in the same colour ink, then layered up some pieces of Plaid Tidings DSP and Poppy Parade card stock. The top layer started out white, yes can you believe that?!!! Sponging on some Misty Moonlight and Just Jade ink randomly, but fairly heavily for a lovely depth of colour. Then place a piece of paper towel on a plate, add some water to soak it, then take your stamp and use this instead of ink. Leave it to dry for an hour or so and you get this lovely bleached stamped look.

I stamped the same image again onto white card and coloured it with the coordinating stamps. I used the dies to cut it out. The top sentiment is stamped in Versamark, White Emboss Powder added and heat set. The Cocktails is another die and glued directly to the card.

I popped up the cocktail glass on mini dimensionals and finished with some Fine Tip Glue on the ice cubes and orange slice for some shine! I think this card could be given to any adult, as it isn’t really masculine or feminine. What do you think?

Don’t forget to add some patterned papers to your October order while they are on sale!

Scenes under the Sea

Now it is October, we have a new Tutorial Bundle for you – some of the Art with Heart team ladies, including myself have put together 8 step by step tutorials to give you loads of fabulous ideas for using current Stampin’ Up! product. Each bundle contains 8 tutorials combined into a PDF package including colour photos, a supply list, measurements and comprehensive step by step instructions. Click here for more details. This bundle is $12AUD worldwide or free with a minimum $50 order from me in October 2020 (Australia only).

Scenes under the Sea

Here is another Whale of a Time Suite card which is very simple, just adding a couple of elements.

My card base is Balmy Blue with a piece of the designer paper creating the backdrop. This paper pack is on sale for the month of October saving you 15%, so make sure you add it to your next order!

The whale is punched from another sheet of DSP with the Whale Builder Punch and popped up on dimensionals.

The Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper is added above the whale spout and also some of the seaweed at the bottom. It just reminds me of looking down into a clear blue ocean with the element of shine and sparkle the water gives. I used the Forever Flourishing dies for these – who would have thought!!

This is such a simple card but this DSP creates the scene for you!

Whale of a Time with the cutest backdrop

Whale of a Time Suite

I love how these designer papers add such a wow to a card, with very little extras needed. This gorgeous piece with the sea horses makes a super cute backdrop for this whale card.

Adding some seaweed die cut from the Smooth Sailing dies, which coordinate beautifully with this suite. The cardstock is Blackberry Bliss, Granny Apple Green & Shaded Spruce.

My card base is Pretty Peacock, as is the 2¼” circle punch, embossed with the Seabed 3D embossing folder and popped up on dimensionals.

The whale is actually punched from another piece of the designer paper using the Whale Builder Punch, also adhered with dimensionals. I just love that these papers have images that can be cut with the coordinating punch!

The blue adhesive backed gems are added randomly for a little sparkle!

CCS Garden Green – Birthday Wreath with a pop of colour

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Week 17 – Garden Green

Yes, I know, another wreath card… but you know what, I just love them and they are so easy and effective. The only stamping is the sentiment.

The flowers are die cut in Magenta Madness and Highland Heather and each has a small rhinestone in the centre. The Magenta Bow just adds that extra touch for a wreath. I love how this wreath sits on the Brick & Mortar embossed background, as though it’s hanging on a wall.

The wreath has 3 layers; bottom layer is Soft Sea Foam, the middle is the same DSP as the background and the top layer is Garden Green. The middle layer was cut from the centre of the background layer so not the waste this gorgeous paper and the hole is covered up with the White Bricks layer anyway! I glued the bottom layer direct to the white bricks. The top two layers are glue together but then these are popped up on mini dimensionals to give it some height.

Arrange a Wreath Slimline Bridge Fold Card

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Tonight’s Stampin’ Up! colour is Crushed Curry and I have a fun fancy fold fold card to share with you in the slimline format that is very popular right now. This card fits into a DL envelope for posting!

I must admit, I was really happy with how this card turned out and I like the Crushed Curry, but I don’t usually go to this particular shade for my first choice of yellow. The Garden Green wreaths are glued to the side panels, as is is the sentiment. There is a panel of White White behind the bridge in the background and this is stamped with another image from the Arrange a Wreath stamp set before being glued in place.

The flowers are stamped in Crushed Curry ink and then I used the fine tip end of my Stampin’ Write Marker to add the details. Some Wink of Stella is added to the centre of each flower and then I die cut them all before adhering to the card.

Using the Stamparatus, I was able to stamp the sentiment easily and get the dark depth of colour I wanted by stamping multiple times and lining it up perfectly. I inked the entire sentiment with Crushed Curry, then used my Marker to colour the “happy birthday”.

Adding some Champagne Rhinestones adds some sparkle!

Product List

Birthday, Designer/Patterned/Specialty Papers (DSP), Handmade Cards, One Sheet Wonder, Stampin' Up!

Playful Pets 6″ x 6″ one sheet wonder

I have 4 cards for you today that are created from one piece of 6″ x 6″ designer paper (beware of directional designs).

Simply place the designer paper in your trimmer with the top right corner lined up with the 3cm (from the left) and the bottom right corner lined up at the 3cm mark on the right side of the trimmer and cut. Then holding the two pieces of paper together, carefully rotate it and line it up again in the same position and cut (see below).

You should then have 4 pieces like this

So now that you have your 4 x pieces, you can cut your 4 x card bases in accordance with what orientation best suits. I have done 2  landscape and 2 portrait. I glued the patterned paper to the cards first, then embossed the card fronts with different patterned folders. Next I die cut some of the images from the patterned paper with the coordinating dies and some of the images are stamped and coloured with watercolour pencils and a blender pen.

All the sentiments on these cards are stamped using the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set and cut with the Classic Label Punch.

This black cat is simply punched using the Cat Punch and adhered with dimensionals.

This next one has a die cut Flirty Flamingo piece behind the cat and you can see the white border drawn around it.  This is done by leaving the die on top of the die cut piece and using the White Chalk Marker, trace around the inside of the die twice!

On the inside, I stamped them all the same – using the Stamparatus made this super easy and quick. Once the stamps are setup on the stamparatus all together, ink them all at once and stamp on 4 separate inserts!

Colour Creations Showcase – Coastal Cabana

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Tonight’s Stampin’ Up! colour is Coastal Cabana!

This is such a beautiful colour and it always makes your projects beam with happiness. Today is my youngest daughter’s birthday, and I made this card for her. This is birthday #2 in lockdown!

I used Coastal Cabana as my card base and Coastal Cabana features heavily in the Playing with Patterns Designer Paper.

Playing with Patterns & Stitched Triangles for CCS Coastal Cabana by Kate Morgan Stampin Up Australia 2020

This is my first time creating with these Stitched Triangle dies and I just love them, especially with this patterned paper. Die cutting many triangles in each of the 3 designs and placing them onto the card with dimensionals so they have some extra height.

I also used the Well Written dies for the sentiment, banners and the butterfly which are glued on top of the triangles on the front of this card.

Don’t forget to decorate the inside with a strip of coordinating patterned paper and in this case, a wonderful sentiment using the Family Party stamp set! I also added a couple of the Purple Posy Butterfly Gems for added interest. Aren’t they sweet?!!!

Tissue Paper Watercolour Technique with Timeless Tulips

This is not a colour combination I would usually choose, but I got my inspiration from the patterned paper, Plaid Tidings DSP.

Colour Combination - MM MM GAG WW

Timeless Tulips Tissue Paper Watercolour Technique by Kate Morgan Stampin Up Australia 2020

Technique: rub your inkpads onto your craft mat, next to each other but not touching, covering about the same size area as your paper. Spritz with water. You can used a bone folder or palette knife to blend the colour into each other. Place a piece of White tissue paper on top and let it absorb the colour. Carefully lift the tissue paper and place it onto some paper towel to dry.

Place some adhesive sheet onto a piece of white cardstock and remove the wax layer so the entire sheet is sticky. Scrunch up the tissue paper, open it up and stick it to the card. Punch out your tulips with the Tulip Builder Punch.

The Mango Melody card is embossed with the Wrapped in Texture TIEF and the Melon Mambo card base is embossed with the Dainty Diamonds 3D TIEF. The white circle is cut using the Stitched Shapes dies, stamped and added to the card with dimensionals for some height.

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and heat set, before fussy cutting it out and adding it with Mini Dimensionals. Add some glittered enamel dots and a ribbon bow to finish.

Colour Creations Showcase – Calypso Coral

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Tonight’s Stampin’ Up! colour is Calypso Coral!

I love the Whale of a Time Bundle and on this card, I have teamed it up with the High Tide & Well Said stamp sets and the Well Written Dies!

I used the Rock n Roll technique to stamp the whale on whisper white card before cutting it out with the Whale builder punch. The other image were stamped on the Nested Stitched Label die cut and the whale added with dimensionals!

Calypso Coral CCS Card using Whale of a Time & High Tide stamps by Kate Morgan Stampin Up Australia 2020

To create the background, I used the “light beam” stamp from the High Tide stamp set and repeatedly stamped in different colours, cleaning the stamp quickly on the Simply Shammy between colours.

Whale Wobble card

I just love how quickly this card came together!

Predominantly using the patterned paper, this is the main feature of this card, with very little stamping. In fact, the only stamping is the sentiments, fish and a little bit on the anchor!

Whale Wobble card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2020

The Whale Builder punch was used to punch out the whale from a piece of the patterned paper and a wobble element was placed behind it to create the 3D effect. Click here to see the whale wobbling!

I also used the Smooth Sailing dies to cut some extra seaweed/plants to add to the scene and the Brass Foil anchor.
