Night of Navy: Fold Back Sympathy card

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 34 – Night of Navy

This handmade sympathy card features the Peace on Earth bundle and the Peaceful Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP) in a very easy fun fold design. The narrow panel on the right folds back to open the card, with the circle feature holding the card closed. This fold is so versatile to use with any of the beautiful Stampin’ Up! Designer Serie Papers.

How you can re-create this card

1. Create the base – a Night of Navy card base, 19.4cm x 14.9cm, scored @ 8.5cm and 16.8cm.

2. Designer Paper – 14.4cmx 8cm (2), 14.4cm x 2cm. Adhere the strip to the right hand panel and the  other two pieces to the front and inside left of the card.

3. Basic White – 14.4cm x 8cm, adhere inside for your message. Die cut the dove to adhere to the circle feature.

4. Night of Navy – 8cm x 2cm for the front and a circle for the feature element. This is die cut using the Stylish Shapes dies. To adhere this to the narrow panel by adding 3 Dimensionals in a row only to the right hand side (back) of the circle.

5. Finishing touches – Stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy ink onto Basic White card and fussy cut. Adhere to the Navy strip on the front of the card. Die cut a couple of the branches from the Glimmer paper and adhere as shown. Add some Hues of Blue Flowers.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next week for Old Olive inspiration.

Misty Moonlight: Peaceful Garden Sympathy card

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 32 – Misty Moonlight

This handmade card features the Peaceful Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP) and some soon to be released in January, Beautifully Celebrated dies.

This card is cased from Kathy Ellerbusch Alt, who showed how to create one in a recent ‘live’ on Facebook using the newly released Product of the Month (POM) True Blue Florals DSP. More details below.

Measurements

Misty Moonlight card base: 21cm x 14.8cm, scored @ 10.5cm
Cloud Cover: 14.3cm x 10cm
Designer Series Paper: 14cm x 6cm  (centre), 14cm x 4.5cm (2, one each side), 14cm x 2cm (inside)
Basic White: 14.3cm x 10cm (inside)

How you can re-create this card

  1. Score and fold the card base.
  2. Adhere the insert inside with the strip of DSP on the right hand side.
  3. Adhere the Cloud Cover layer to the card base.
  4. Adhere the 14cm x 6cm DSP to the centre of the card.
  5. Take the 14cm x 4.5cm DSP and add adhesive to one side only. The left piece has adhesive only on the left and the opposite on the other side.
  6. Fold back the inside corners of the DSP. Starting with the top left, start the crease from the edge of the DSP underneath (centre piece). Once you have this one done, you can repeat on the others to mimic the first one.
  7. Die cut the two labels and the glitter leaves. The centre label I added the smaller label on top and ran through my embossing machine with the Silicone Craft Sheet to get the embossing.
  8. Stamp the sentiment.
  9. Using a blending brush, add ink to the edges of each label.
  10. Adhere the labels together then add Dimensionals on the back and adhere it the centre of the card. I also placed a mini dimensional under each of the DSP corner folds to hold them in place.
  11. Add the embellishments.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next Wednesday for Mossy Meadow inspiration.

Week 18 – Crushed Curry

This handmade card features the Charming Day stamp set and the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack.

This sentiment is just perfect with these colours reminding me of glorious sunshine, and it sure would lift the spirits of the recipient. It could also be used for any occasion like a Birthday, Mother’s Day, Sympathy, Thinking of You or Just Beacause.

Free Tutorial for my Faux Camera Shutter card

Welcome to the Colour Creations InstaHop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours. For the first 5 weeks we showcase the new 2025-2027 In Colors and then continue with all the remaining colours in alphabetical order.

Have you browsed the new 2025-2026 Annual Catalogue yet and created your shopping list?

Week 2 – Darling Duckling

I have two cards today, a Mother’s Day card and a Sympathy card, both using products from the @stampinupofficial Floral Impressions Suite Collection.

Card 1 – Mother’s Day card
This handmade Mother’s Day card features; Impressions Abloom Bundle, Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper (DSP) and two Euphemera Packs, Foiled Frames & Labels and the Greetings for All Mix & Match. These diecut greetings are just brilliant for quick additions to your cards.

The designer papers is from the same pack and the flowers are stamped in Darling Duckling and Timid Tiger with the Secret Sea centres.  The leaves are diecut in White and Garden Green ink blended on using Blending Brushes.

You can see that gorgeous gold foiling on this circle, it’s just so lush!

These 2025-2027 In Color™ Flat Pearls are stunning too and must have if you haven’t already got them! A White Baker’s Twine bow is added on a Glue Dot.

Card 2 – Sympathy Card
This is known as the Faux Camera Shutter technique made with a piece of 6″ x 6″ DSP (free tutorial here).

I started with a Darling Duckling cardbase with a piece of Basic White which has been dry embossed with the Mini Corrugated EF. I used my Darling Duckling Marker to splatter some fine ink onto the card. The Faux Camera Shutter is matted onto a piece of Garden Green cardstock, then adhered to the card. Some flowers and leaves are die cut in Darling Duckling, Garden Green, Pecan Pie and Timid Tiger cardstock and adhered to the card. The banner at the bottom was an offcut from creating the faux shutter!

Not sure if you can see the ink splatter on the corrugated card? It just adds a little rustic charm.

The sentiment is from the Greetings for All Mix & Match Euphemera Pack and added on Dimensionals. Some of the same flat pearls were used on this card also.

on the inside, I added two more of those offcuts to a Basic White insert.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next Wednesday for Secret Sea inspiration.

Soft Sea Foam: Woven Textures Sympathy Card

Week 50 – Soft Sea Foam

Today’s handmade card features the Textured Notes stamp set and coordinating dies and the Unbounded Love stamp set and dies and the Spotlight on Nature dies with the Woven Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP).

I adhered a piece of the DSP to the entire card front before working out my layers. I cut the darker DSP with the Textured Notes die, then stamped all of my images and sentiment on Basic White or Soft Seam Foam card. The leaves and circle element under the sentiment were fussy cut with Paper Snips and placed on the card to see where I wanted to add some extra stamped elements on the background. I used Pecan Pie and Early Espresso inks along with Pecan Pie and Soft Sea Foam Blends Markers to splatter.

I also did more splattering with my Blends on the leaves. The sentiment is stamed is Early Espresso ink and die cut with the Unbounded Love dies. I ran the edges around on my inkpad to get some more highlights.

The Basic Beige Bordered Ribbon was attached to a narrow piece of White card covered with Stampin’ Seal and folded to add lots of texture.

I added some Neutral Matte Dots to finish.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next Wednesday for inspiration using Wild Wheat.

Pecan Pie: Mixed Florals

Week 41- Pecan Pie

Today I feature the Mixed Florals Bundle, Elements of Text and the Mixed Labels dies on Very Vanilla cardstock.

I heat embossed the large image and sentiment in Copper WOW Emboss Powder for something different. I used Stampin’ Blends Combo Markers; Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie to colour the image. All the background stamping is 2nd generation (stamping onto scrap paper before onto the card for a lighter tone). I used the Light Pecan Pie marker to colour the Linen Thread.

Mossy Meadow: Storybook Friends with Pick a Season

It’s with a sad heart that I inform you, effective immediately, we are no longer continuing with our Art with Heart Colour Creations blog hop for the time being. However, I will still continue to share my projects with you each week, as it is such a great way of getting out of my comfort zone and experimenting with all the colours in the Stampin’ Up! collections, especially those we struggle to use.

So, in saying that, here I am with our next colour, Mossy Meadow!

Week 37 – Mossy Meadow

Today the Storybook Moments Designer Series Paper features with the Everyday Arches dies. You may be wondering where the arches are, but they have been turned into an oval! To do this, run the die through your die cutting machine from the arched end first, but stop when you get 2/3rds of the way along the die and rewind.  Remove the die and turn it 180º and line up with the little dots so the die will then cut the other end through your machine, but remember to stop and rewind so it doesn’t cut all the way through. Repeat this with the die one size larger with Mossy Meadow card to create the matt layer.

Stamp the mound image (Storybook Friends stamp set) and colour with your Water Painter and inkpads (Mossy Meadow & Calypso Coral) . Stamp your sentiment and add two of the pre-printed diecut images from the paper pack!

On the inside I used the negative space from the oval die cut to add some ink blending for the panel to write my sentiment. Some more stamping and a a strip of the patterned paper as used on the front of the card!

Storybook Friends stamp set added a cute extra touch to go with the Pick a Season stamp set (free with a $100+ order during Saleabration). I stamped the small house image in the background of my card base, layered a strip of patterned paper across the centre. The oval is created the same way as explained above with the Everyday Arches dies before stamping the tree & grass (Pecan Pie, Mossy Meadow & Calypso Coral). The fence and bunny are stamped in Pecan Pie, the bunny coloured with Blends Combo Markers (Light SU900, Medium SU500 & SU600).

Some Gold Twisted Thread is wrapped around and tied in a knot. This panel is added on Dimensionals and a White WOW heat embossed sentiment (Simply Said), die cut (Happy Little Things dies) and glued on. Three Gold Low Profile Dots are added below.

The duck is diecut directly from the DSP and the extra coloured cardstock diecut for the reeds, lilypads and flowers; Pretty in Pink, Granny Apple Green and Peach Pie.

Card 3 – Pretty Peacock cardbase with a layer of Badic White ink blended with Balmy Blue ink and dry embossed with the So Swirly 3D embossing folder. Blackberry Bliss: Enduring Beauty Faux Embossed Tile Card

2024-25 blog header

I’m thrilled you are here to join us each Wednesday evening for the AWHT Colour Creations Blog Hop showcasing the full range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 11 – Blackberry Bliss

Today I feature the Enduring Beauty Stamps and Masks in this Embossed Tile card. On some Basic White card, I used the masks and Blending Brushes to colour the main image using Fresh Freesia & Blackberry Bliss inks for the flowers and Pool Party & Shy Shamrock inks for the leaves.

Once this was done, I embossed the panel using the Cute Crochet 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, then cut it into 3cm squares. Placing Dimensionals on the back of each square, I lined them up onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock eith a narrow border bwtween them. Once all were adhered I trimmed it to size. This was glued to a Basic White cardbase (although the fading light made it look more Vanilla). The outline image for these marks was stamped in the corner on the inside of the card and the envelope.

The lovely sentiment is heat embossed with White Emboss Powder onto Blackberry Bliss card and fussy, then adhered on Dimensionals with a White Baker’s  Twine bow placed below on a Glue Dot. Some Iridescent Adhesive-backed Discs finish it off. It’s always handy to have some sympathy/thinking of you cards in your stash for when you least expect to need them.
