Pretty Kitty Fancy Fold Card

Dear Crafters,

Today I share a fancy fold card using the Pretty Kitty stamp set, Tea Room Specialty Designer paper and Watercolour Pencils!

From 1 August, a new 10 pack of Watercolour Pencils will be available in the following colours: Balmy Blue, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo, Garden Green, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Night of Navy. These can be used by themselves or with our Blender Pens or Aqua Painter.

I made this card for my eldest daughter who turns 12 today. She loves cats (we have 2) and she loves butterflies, so this was perfect for her.

The front piece of cardstock is embossed with the new Tufted Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder.

This card opens up so you can see the gorgeous Tea Room Specialty Designer paper with the kitty image. This is coloured with the Watercolour Pencils and then I used a Blender Pen to add some shading. This image is die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits and added with dimensionals to a piece of Rich Razzleberry Layering Ovals Scallop die which is glued down to the DSP. Open this flap to reveal another layer for your message.

When fully open, you have this Whisper White piece with the sentiment stamped (Happy Birthday Gorgeous) in the centre where you can write your message.

AWHT Blog Hop featuring Designer Series Paper

Blog Hop DSP.jpg

Dear Crafters,

Tonight the Art with Heart team are sharing creative projects featuring designer series paper. This month, Stampin’ Up! have a special on designer series paper, buy 3, get 1 free! We hope our blog hop inspires you to get crafting with your designer series paper.

If you’re already hopping, then you just came to me from Cathy Proctor. If you’re just joining, great! Use the “next” button at the end of my post to hop all the way around. Blog Hops are full circles, so you can start hopping here and then at the end of each post there is a link to the next one. There is also a list of participants at the end in case of any broken links.

Now let’s get started!

My first project is a 12″ x 12″ scrapbook page of my eldest daughter when she was only 11 months old. She was already walking and into everything, so we went outside to get some winter sunshine and of course, she went straight for the flowers. So what better paper to use than the Petal Promenade DSP! I’ve paired it up on a base of Fresh Fig with some coloured punch outs of Sahara Sand and Blushing Bride using the Tailored Tag punch. I also added the cat punch and some of the Tea Room copper metallic edged ribbon, tied in a bow. The sentiment is from the Accented Blooms stamp set and the metal rose is from the Share What You Love Embellishment Kit.

My second project is a fancy fold card using the Tropical Escape DSP which coordinates with the Tropical Chic Bundle; Tropical Chic stamp set and Tropical Thinlits dies. It can be found on pages 120-121 of the annual catalogue.

The colours I have used are: Shaded Spruce, Blushing Bride and Soft Sea Foam.

The layering squares framelits added in the diamond formation, adds a new dimension to this fold. As you can see below, the frame is adhered to the left panel of the card and the centre piece is adhered to the right panel and slides underneath to close.

with the card fully open, I have added some stamping to coordinate with the design on the front!

Colour Creations: Cajun Craze and Animal Outings

Hello Crafters,

Welcome to another Art With Heart Team Colour Creations weekly Blog Hop. Today we are featuring Cajun Craze!!!

You may not have seen a lot of this colour on my projects, as I am not a big fan of the colour, but I think it works well for this lovable big ‘Red Kangaroo’, a true colour of the worlds largest mammal and Australia’s biggest marsupial!

I used the Nature’s Poem DSP and did my own fancy fold that I sure am loving using with the different DSPs. Instructions & measurements can be found here!

Double Pleat Fold card with Stitched Labels

Dear Crafters,

Today I have a double pleat fold card using the Petal Promenade DSP, but look at that Soft Sea Foam card with the texture… it is created with the new Subtle Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder!

Double Pleat Fold card using Stampin Up Petal Promenade DSP by Kate Morgan, Australia, 2018

  • I began with a piece of DSP measuring 10″ x 5-7/8″
  • Score long edge at 1″, 1½”, 2½”, 3″, 4, 4½”, 5½”, 6″, 7″, 7½”, 8½”, 9″
  • Measure on both of the short sides, mark with a pencil 2½” in from each end, so you have 4 marks in total (See diagram)
  • From these marks cut off each of the corner triangles as shown to the centre scorelines
  • Fold the scorelines as shown in the card sample

I also love the Stitched Label Framelits dies! The sentiment is from the new Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set and stamped in Petal Pink ink on whisper white card. The heart and circle are die cut in Soft Sea Foam and added with dimensionals. A small piece of copper trim has been frayed at either end and adhered with snail.

There’s so much to love about…

Dear Crafters,

Today I am using the Garden Impressions Suite; Garden Impressions designer series paper with the coordinating Abstract Impressions stamp set and Springtime Impressions thinlits dies.

My colour combination is Melon Mambo, Petal Pink & Shaded Spruce. Check out that pretty Metallic ribbon bow and you may notice I’ve also used the metal leaf trinket that also coordinates with the Petal Passion suite! The stamping of the Melon Mambo and Shaded Spruce were stamped off first, to give that lighter tone.

Tissue Box cover with Share What You Love SDSP

Dear Crafters,

Sniff sniff, I’m back to work today after 2 weeks of holidays at home, so lucky I have a beautiful tissue box to make things better!

Today I share a tissue box cover that I created using a 12″ x 12″ piece of Mint Macaron cardstock. You are probably going to ask me for the measurements, but to be honest, I just measured around a tissue box to get a rough guide; so approximately 3-7/8″, 8-1/8″ and then rotate 90º and score at 1-3/4″ from either end. The ends, once you cut the tabs to create the box, do not make it all the way down the box, so I just covered both ends with a larger piece of DSP and you wouldn’t even know!

Tissue Box Cover using Stampin Up Share What You Love Specialty DSP by Kate Morgan Australia 2018.JPG

I wasn’t really happy with the top where the tissues come through the box, so I added some strips of scallop edging to the underside!

Tissue Box Cover using Stampin Up Share What You Love Specialty DSP by Kate Morgan, Australia 2018

This fits really snug over the tissue box and it is open at the bottom for easy access.

WARNING: I found mine in the recycle bin last night, as hubby used the last tissue and threw it away, so ensure you tell ALL the family members that you have created a masterpiece and not to throw it in the bin… be warned!!! LOL

Colour Creations: Blueberry Bushel with Bike Ride

Hello Crafters,

Welcome to another Art With Heart Team Colour Creations weekly Blog Hop. Today we are featuring the new In Colour, Blueberry Bushel!!!

I am getting organised for the end of year when my eldest daughter graduates from her primary years of schooling and one of her closest friends is a boy who I’m sure she will miss next year as they head off to different High Schools. I’ve made this card for him!

Graduation card using Stampin Up 2018 Bike Ride, Best Route DSP by Kate Morgan Australia F

Oh how I love this Designer Series Paper, Best Route. It is the perfect choice to go with this Bike Ride stamp set. This young man loves his bike; I guess it gives them their independence at this age. The two of them often head out for a bike ride on the weekends, so I thought it was appropriate to use a bike for this card as they will head off in different directions next year.

The bike is stamped and die cut and the wheels are attached with small split pins so they actually spin! The bike frame is mounted to the card with dimensionals to allow the wheels to move.

The inside of the card I stamped this cute little dog, as the recipient has recently acquired a new puppy and I think he will love this touch!

Pretty Petal Promenade with an Interlocking Gatefold Card

Dear Crafters,

Today I share a feminine card using the gorgeous Petal Promenade DSP. Have you seen these papers? They are actually just like a photo, which is how Stampin’ Up! created them!

I love the softness of the petals and the colouring of these roses, but I also think it may be overpowering as a full layer on a card. So I have cut it into 2 panels to adhere to the front of the card in this fancy fold style.

Petal Promenade DSP with Share What You Love by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia.

It is a gatefold card, but when you open it, the oval layers interlock!

I saw Dawn Griffiths make one of these, but of course I needed to alter the paper sizes for A4, rather than US sizing, so went back to my trusty file to find a gatefold card that I had made many years ago and adapted it.

Petal Promenade DSP with Share What You Love by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia opening

Here it is open. I have stamped the image again and coloured the petals with the Wink of Stella, the same as the front!

Springtime with Garden Impressions designer paper

Hello Crafters,

Have you seen the DSP sale, buy 3 get 1 free? This month I will focus on projects using some of these stunning papers!

DSP Buy 1 Get 1 Free

I love navy and yellow together and so when I grabbed this piece of designer paper, I knew straight away I would use these two colours together. When there are flowers, there are always butterflies, so I used the Springtime Impressions thinlits die to add this stunning So Saffron butterfly. The sentiment is from the Cake Soiree stamp set stamped in Night of Navy ink and punched out with a 1″ circle punch. I wrapped some Linen thread around 3 ties added the sentiment and tied in a bow! The candy dots in the butterfly are retired but they were the perfect accent to finish this card.
