Smoky Slate Blog Hop ~ Double Pop Up Gatefold card

CCS Logo 2021-22

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 43 – Smoky Slate

Tonight’s fancy fold design has been around for a while now, and I’ve finally had a go creating one! I am using the What’s Cookin’ Bundle (soon to retire 😢) so if you want it buy it, be sure to do so asap.

Double Pop Up Gatefold card using Stampin Up What's Cookin by Kate Morgan, Australia 2022

I started with a Smoky Slate card base for my Double Pop Up Gatefold design. Now that my card has a baking theme, and it is something I love doing with my girls, I thought it appropriate to use the heart pattern (Sweet Talk designer paper) from the 2022 Jan-June Mini catalogue. Real Red is one of the colours in these papers, so that is what I have used for my matt layers.

Firstly, I folded and glued the mechanisms into the card, one at top left and one at bottom right.

Once I had all the cardstock layers cut (you can find the measurements below), I stamped the images in Smoky Slate and Real Red ink and die cut some out with the coordinating Cookin’ dies, before gluing all the layers together and placing them onto my card.

I love how these stamps have that distinctive look to them!

Shaded Spruce Blog Hop ~ Paradise Palms Fancy Fold card

CCS Logo 2021-22

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 42 – Shaded Spruce

Tonight’s Pillar Pop Up fancy fold card is fast becoming my favourite! You may have seen my other version on 14 March using Waves of the Ocean.

This is a standard A5 card, but it has a layer at the front reminding me of a diorama, sitting up on two pillars which fold flat for the card to fit into our C6 envelopes.

Paradise Palms Pillar Pop Up Card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022, fancy fold

My card base is Shaded Spruce 21cm x 14.8cm folded in half. Using the Stitched Rectangle dies to create the frame (2, 3, 5 & 6). Use 2 & 6 together for the Shaded Spruce frame and 3 & 5 for the DSP on the frame. Glue the DSP on the frame before adding the palm tree in front and the grass behind. I also stamped and cut out the trio of palms to glue to the inside.

There are two of these pillars at either end behind the front frame, which are created with the same DSP. These allow the frame to sit flat, leaning to the left or the right.

The New Horizons Designer Paper was the perfect choice with the Paradise Palms Bundle.

Sahara Sand Blog Hop ~ For the Record, who loves donuts?!!!

CCS Logo 2021-22

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 41 – Sahara Sand

Tonight’s sweet donut card is made using the For The Record stamp set. I stamped the record in Sahara Sand ink onto the same colour card and cut it out using the Layering Circles Dies. I cut a second circle the same size for the icing. I used snips to fussy cut the edges to create a more natural icing then stamped the sprinkles from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set. I used the ‘O’ from the Playful Alphabet dies to cut out the centre. I used the Stitched with Whimsy dies on the card base, running it through the Cut & Emboss Machine, then used my Black Stampin’ Write Marker to draw over the marks to create faux stitching!

I stamped the sentiments in Sahara Sand ink onto Basic White card and used my paper snips to cut the banners on each end. These were popped up on Dimensionals. Some Basic Rhinestone Jewels are added to finish it off.

On the inside I repeated the faux stitching in the same way as the front of the card!

Rich Razzleberry Blog Hop ~ Waves of Inspiration

CCS Logo 2021-22

Today is the final day of Saleabration and to earn free product with every$90+ product order you spend – make sure you don’t miss out on this amazing deal!

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 40 – Rich Razzleberry

You may be thinking, what on earth is she using the Waves of Inspiration bundle for this hop when we are featuring Rich Razzleberry, right?!! Well, I wanted to try something a little different.

Waves of the Ocean Collection 161797

My card uses pink tones of Rich Razzleberry and Fresh Freesia, and doesn’t it give a different vibe?!!!

I started with a Rich Razzleberry card base (29.7cm x 10.5cm, scored at 14.85cm). The Basic White insert (14.3cm x 10cm) was placed in the Stamparatus. I inked the wave image in Fresh Freesia then took a dauber and added some Rich Razzleberry ink to get some variation happening, then stamped it onto the card. I always use the Stamparatus for this, as I could line up the wave image perfectly if I needed to add more colour. I glued this to the inside of my card.

The Fresh Freesia layer is the same size as the insert and I placed this in the centre of the card front without glue. Sit it on the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Stitched Rectangle die. I place a tiny bit of Washi tape to hold the die in place as I run it through the machine. This cuts the stitched rectangle in the card front.

Feminine Waves of Inspiration by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022 Sneak Peek angle

Are you wondering how I got that stamped texture on the Freesia frame? I stamped it with the wave stamp in Fresh Freesia ink! Isn’t it a cool effect?

Feminine Waves of Inspiration by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022 Sneak Peek close up

The wave dies are cut in Basic White. One of them I placed (without glue) on the inside of the card at the base of the stamped wave. Carefully closing the card, I could see where I would need to apply glue. You can see this in this image below. The second wave die cut is placed on the card front in the same manner and trimming a little off the ends so it doesn’t hang over, before adhering the Freesia frame over the top.

Feminine Waves of Inspiration by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022 Sneak Peek inside

The next step was to stamp the sentiments and die cut them with the label dies from the same bundle. The one on the front didn’t quite reach, so I cut a strip of Rich Razzleberry card and threaded it through so it could be adhered to the card front. I repeated the process for the Happy Birthday on the inside. The clouds and birds were also die cut and added with Multipurpose glue and some Basic Rhinestone Jewels added, because you can never have too much bling!

Has my card today inspired you to create with non-traditional colours for the waves?!!

Feminine Waves of Inspiration by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022 Sneak Peek.

I case’d this idea from a card I saw by Seeing Ink Spots, but I changed it up a little adding the die cut waves.

Today is the final day of Saleabration, so if you were planning on placing an order, do so before 11.59pm to earn free product. The Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine is also on sale with 20% off this month – it’s a bargain.

Pillar Pop Up Fancy Fold card with Waves of the Ocean

It’s the Labour Day long weekend here in Victoria, so I’ve had an extra day to play with my new goodies that arrived on Saturday!

Today’s card is inspired by Rachel Tessman and you can see her video here. I changed mine up a bit by just using a normal A5 card, rather than the stand she creates. I just adore this style and I can see myself making many more, they just have a real wow and still fit into an envelope to post!

Waves of the Ocean Pillar Pop Up card by Kate Morgan, Stampin up Australia 2022

My card base is Night of Navy 21cm x 14.8cm folded in half. Using the Stitched Rectangle dies to create the frame (2, 3, 5 & 6). Use 2 & 6 together for the Navy frame and 3 & 5 for the DSP on the frame. Glue the DSP on the frame before adding one wave in front and one wave behind and trimming the excess.

Stitched Rectangle Dies Numbers

The pillars are created using a piece of the same DSP. These need to be 3″ tall, so start with a 6″ piece and score at ⅜”, ¾”, 1⅛”, 1½” and cut at 1¾” – then cut in half at 3” to have 2 pieces. Fold these to create the pillars and adhere them to the back of the frame. Rachel lines hers up with the edge of the card, however because I was using an A5 metric card base, I lined my frame up with the edge of the background DSP.

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and heat set before die cutting and adhering to the card.

When adhering the frame to the card, Rachel lines it up with the edge of the card, however because I was using a metric card base, I lined my frame up with the edge of the background DSP.

It folds flat to fit in an envelope and can be folded to the right…

…or to the left, it doesn’t matter!

Under the Sea card

Today’s card is all about the sea!

While I was on a zoom craft & chat session with my fellow demonstrators last week, I wanted to play with the New Horizons Suite. Well, that was the plan, but it didn’t quite eventuate like that. I got out the New Horizons 6″x6″ DSP, and die cut a full sheet with the two soft edged mountain dies (the ones under the snowy peaks below).

New Horizons Suite 157782 Craft with Kate

My card base is Evening Evergreen. I then had a piece of card 5mm smaller than the card base, and started layering the die cut pieces starting at the top of the card. It doesn’t matter if they overhang off the card, as once it’s complete, I cut around the edges of the card so it’s neat and tidy. Doesn’t it create an amazing background?! Glue this to the card base.

Horizon dies, Whale of a Time & Plentiful Plants card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022.

I stamped the whale (Whale Done stamp set) in Coastal Cabana ink and punched it out with the Whale Builder Punch. The foliage is from the Plentiful Plants bundle and I used Old Olive, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen inks for variation. These are cut out with the coordinating dies and added with Dimensionals.

I stamped the fish and the larger reeds directly onto the patterned paper background.

On the inside I added more of the patterned paper in the same way as the front and stamped the sentiment.

Week 39 – Real Red

Tonight’s card features the Hand-Penned Petals Bundle (Hand-Penned Petals stamp set & Penned Flowers dies) from the Annual catalogue.  I stamped this image four times (3 for the front and 1 inside) in Memento Black ink and coloured them using Stampin’ Blends Combo Packs (Real Red, Flirty Flamingo, Just Jade).

My card base is Thick Basic White with a smaller layer dry embossed with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder. I added a small strip of the All Together 6″x6″ DSP, and die cut the bottom with the scallop border die from the Penned Flowers dies.

The sentiment panel is cut with one of the Tasteful Labels dies and stamped in Black Memento ink. This sentiment is from the Catching Butterflies stamp set (Saleabration item which can be select for free with a $90 product order). Saleabration ends on 16 March in Australia. This panel is popped up on Dimensionals and a Real Red Faux Linen Ribbon bow is added with a Glue Dot and some of my favourite, Brushed Brass Butterflies Embellishments.

CCBH Pumpkin Pie: Garden Greenhouse

CCS Logo 2021-22

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 38 – Pumpkin Pie

Tonight’s colour is one I am really not a fan of. I find orange a really tough colour to work with, but I guess that is part of our challenge, right?!!! I have used the Garden Greenhouse Bundle for my card tonight.

Garden Greenhouse Bundle card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

The Pumpkin Pie card base is 21cm x 14.8cm, scored in half. I dry embossed the front with the Pretty Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF). The next layer is Basic White and I rounded the corners with the Detailed Trio Punch. Using my Blending Brushes and Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks I gently added Pumpkin Pie ink (although I think a little Poppy Parade was still on my brush). I wrapped some Soft Succulent Satin Shimmer Ribbon across the front and adhered to the back of this layer with Stampin’ Seal, then glued it to the card front.

I die cut the scalloped layer in Basic White card using the Scalloped Contour dies. I stamped the greenery in Soft Succulent ink in the background and some flowers in Pumpkin Pie. The greenhouse is die cut in Basic White for the top and Vellum underneath. This was adhered with Tombo Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

TIP: with liquid glue, apply a small amount as it goes a long way. Let it sit for a few minutes until it becomes translucent before adhering to your card. It will still be very sticky but avoids glue oozing out and going where you don’t want it!

I die cut some of the foliage in Basic White card and coloured them with Soft Succulent Blends Combo Markers. I stamped some flowers and used the coordinating die to cut them out. These are all glued to the front of the greenhouse.

Here is a closer look.

Garden Greenhouse Bundle card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022.

The sentiment is stamped on Pumpkin Pie card with Versamark ink. White Emboss Powder was added then melted with my Heat Tool. I used the Stitched Rectangle dies to cut it out.

The scalloped layer and sentiment are added to the card on Dimensionals.

On the inside, I simply added some Basic White card and stamped some foliage and orange flowers in the bottom corner. The envelope was stamped the same!

    • Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels

Waves of the Ocean Collection 161797

My card is using the Waves of Inspiration Bundle (stamps & dies) and is a fairly simple design aimed at the casual crafter. I first stamped the wave in Pacific Point ink, then used basic white & the supple shimmer card to die cut two of the intricate layers. I glued the white layer on first and took my blending brush with some pool party ink and blended some colour across the wave. The clouds are created using the Basic Borders dies and gently brushing ink starting at the top of the card and working down to the wave.

Waves of Inspiration by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022 Sneak Peek

I then glued the (Pool Party) Supple Shimmer layer on top to get that gorgeous sparkle for the breaking wave. The pelican image is inked by placing Crumb Cake ink for the pelican and Soft Suede ink for the posts before stamping down onto the white card. Die cut this and place on the card with mini dimensionals. The sentiment and birds flying off into the distance are also stamped in Soft Suede ink. Lastly, I added some Wink of Stella to the feathers of the pelican.

Week 37 – Poppy Parade

Tonight I have a fancy fold card using the Tulip Fields and Flowering Tulips Bundles. This tapering Trifold design gave me the idea to stamp the field on the inside as though in the distance, and then die cut the gorgeous tulips in the foreground.

Flowering Fields Tulips Fancy Fold card by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2022

The card base is 21cm x 14.8cm, scored in half. One side is scored in half again and folded back on itself. I measured 5cm from the bottom and marked with a pencil. Then cut from the mark up to the centre fold at the top! This gave my design an extra layer to show off this gorgeous DSP!
