Pretty Petal Promenade with an Interlocking Gatefold Card

Dear Crafters,

Today I share a feminine card using the gorgeous Petal Promenade DSP. Have you seen these papers? They are actually just like a photo, which is how Stampin’ Up! created them!

I love the softness of the petals and the colouring of these roses, but I also think it may be overpowering as a full layer on a card. So I have cut it into 2 panels to adhere to the front of the card in this fancy fold style.

Petal Promenade DSP with Share What You Love by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia.

It is a gatefold card, but when you open it, the oval layers interlock!

I saw Dawn Griffiths make one of these, but of course I needed to alter the paper sizes for A4, rather than US sizing, so went back to my trusty file to find a gatefold card that I had made many years ago and adapted it.

Here it is open. I have stamped the image again and coloured the petals with the Wink of Stella, the same as the front!

Springtime with Garden Impressions designer paper

Hello Crafters,

Have you seen the DSP sale, buy 3 get 1 free? This month I will focus on projects using some of these stunning papers!

I love navy and yellow together and so when I grabbed this piece of designer paper, I knew straight away I would use these two colours together. When there are flowers, there are always butterflies, so I used the Springtime Impressions thinlits die to add this stunning So Saffron butterfly. The sentiment is from the Cake Soiree stamp set stamped in Night of Navy ink and punched out with a 1″ circle punch. I wrapped some Linen thread around 3 ties added the sentiment and tied in a bow! The candy dots in the butterfly are retired but they were the perfect accent to finish this card.

Under the Sea Textures

Dear Crafters,

Today I share a card with more of a masculine theme. As you know, I struggle with these types of cards, but this Sea of Textures bundle had me excited when I first saw it. In conjunction with the new Embossing Mats, it gives so many more options to add texture with the cutting dies!!!

Sea of Textures Under the Sea card Stampin Up by Kate Morgan, Australia 2018.

See that white coral die cut piece in the bottom corner? Well, I used that same die with the new embossing mats to create the embossed section on the Soft Sea Foam card.

The octopus was inked with Grapefruit Grove and then I used Call Me Clover and Blueberry Bushel Stampin’ Write Markers using the thumping technique to add that extra bit of colour to the tentacles.

I love how the wood textures Designer Series Paper adds the perfect texture for the port hole!

Colour Creations: Around the Corner with Blackberry Bliss

Hello Crafters,

Welcome to another Art With Heart Team Colour Creations weekly Blog Hop. This week we are featuring a returning colour, Blackberry Bliss!!!

How pretty are these Delicate Lace Edgelits dies?!!! I have die cut them in Blackberry Bliss card stock and glued them to the front of the Balmy Blue card. Next I stamped the sentiment from the Around the Corner stamp set.

Animal Outings, Around the Corner, Delicate Lace Edgelits, Stampin Up 2018 by Kate Morgan Australia..JPG

The Animal Outings bundle is so Australian with its choice of animals, but today I’m using the cute little rhino. Those lace edgelits remind me of the skin of the rhino so I felt it appropriate to stamp it and cut it with the coordinating Animal Friends thinlits. Loving that there are coordinating thinlits for this stamp set.

Animal Outings, Around the Corner & Delicate Lace Edgelits, Stampin Up 2018 by Kate Morgan Australia.

I coloured the rhino and the little bird with Stampin’ Blends Markers, then added it with an action/wobble accessory… it’s like a spring and it makes him move. These are very easy to make by punching 2 small circles of card stock and wrapping some thin craft wire around a pen/marker 3 or 4 times. Remove the wire from the pen, cut the wire from the roll and using some tape, add each end of your coil to a circle. Place the action wobble behind your rhino with some glue and add it to your card.

Don’t forget to stamp the inside of the card too. Here is have used the sentiments from Around the Corner, perfect detail for a birthday card.

Blog Hop: Casing the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue with Animal Outings

35650140_10216367116633139_6605810454600089600_n

Dear Crafters,

Tonight the Art with Heart team are sharing creative projects CASED from the annual catalogue. If you would like a copy of the 2018 – 2019 annual catalogue, contact any of the girls on the blog hop and we will get in touch with you.

If you’re already hopping, then you just came to me from the lovely, Kathryn Ruddick. If you’re just joining, great! Use the “next” button at the end of my post to hop all the way around. Blog Hops are full circles, so you can start hopping here and then at the end of each post there is a link to the next one. There is also a list of participants at the end in case of any broken links.

Now let’s get started!

At OnStage in April, we got the Animal Outings stamp set in our bags when we arrived and I couldn’t have been more pleased. I think everyone who attended the event were super excited that we had some Aussie animal friend images.

The other great news once we got our hands on the catalogue, was that there are coordinating framelits so we don’t have to fussy cut each of the images, super exciting! So when 1st June came around, those framelits were first on my order.

I have cased my cards from page 26 of the catalogue.

Animal Outings welcome card, Stampin Up by Kate Morgan, Australia, 2018..JPG

The base card is the new Granny Apple Green with the leaves die cut in Shaded Spruce. The banners are from the Nature’s Poem DSP and that small scallop edge is Blackberry Bliss (a returning colour) cut with the Decorative Ribbon Border punch. I coloured the kangaroo & koala with Stampin’ Blends and popped it up on dimensionals.

See that little Blackberry Bliss heart? It was actually an extra piece left over when the rhino was die cut and I trimmed it slightly. The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede ink.

Animal Outings Rhino die_2018.jpg

My next card uses the cute giraffe, again coloured with Stampin’ Blends. I’ve used So Saffron as my card base so the giraffe would stand out more. I’ve also used Crumb Cake and Soft Sea Foam.  I love this die cut background.

Animal Outings Giraffe welcome card, Stampin Up by Kate Morgan, Australia, 2018.

The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White and cut out with the Tailored Tag punch. The branches were coloured with a Blender Pen and inkpads and added with Tombo multipurpose glue.

This last card is cased from page 48 of the catalogue (below) and it is my favourite.

Annual Catalogue Stampin Up 2018 Pg48.JPG

I wanted to make it sweet and feminine, so I have used some of the Petal Promenade DSP and a Pearlised Doilie to soften the tone along with lots of different embellishments.

Animal Outings Rhino & Petal Promenade DSP Stampin Up 2018 by Kate Morgan Australia.JPG

I stamped the rhino image repeatedly across the background of the new colour, Gray Granite, card base in the coordinating ink pad. A banner of the Petal Promenade DSP was glued down over the doilie, then a thin banner of Silver Glimmer paper. The rhino is added with dimensionals.

The Share What You Love Artisan Pearls, White Dotted Tulle and a White Baker’s Twine bow finish it off nicely.

Bench Fold card with Varied Vases Bundle

Dear Crafters,

Today I share a bench fold card that uses the Varied Vases bundle from the brand new Stampin’ Up! Annual catalogue. This is a wonderful bundle which has 34 photopolymer stamps in the set and a coordinating punch to cut out the images. The best part is that it’s only $68.25 for the bundle!

The Wood Textures DSP is also carrying over into this new catalogue, which is wonderful news. This rarely happens but it has been so popular and it coordinates with so many of our wonderful products.

This was the card I made for my mum for Mother’s Day this year ♥

Thinking of You Fancy Fold with Nature’s Poem DSP

Dear Crafters,

Today I share my own design Fancy Fold card using Designer Series Paper!

No more hoarding DSP in my house this year, I need to use it and this style is perfect. You can use any of the Designer papers in the Stampin’ Up! range to create all types of cards and the best part is you can get 2 cards from 1 sheet of 12″ x 12″!

Each card measures 12″ x 6″ scored at 1¾”, 4¾”, 7¾” and it fits into our C6 envelopes.

Fun Fold Nature's Poem DSP, Rooted in Nature Stampin Up Thinking of You Card by Kate Morgan, Australia 2018

Here it is fully open. The first fold is glued down to the front of the card. Depending on the reverse design of your paper, it can give a striking effect as seen here. This also makes the card stronger. I didn’t want to put a large piece of card in the centre to write the message for two reasons, I didn’t want to cover up that gorgeous paper and secondly I cut it down to fit behind the large sentiment when the card is closed.

Fun Fold Nature's Poem DSP, Rooted in Nature Stampin Up Thinking of You Card by Kate Morgan, Australia 2018.

Just look at those leaves ♥ I am so in love with the new Big Shot Embossing Mats! Not only did I emboss the leaves on the white message piece, but also embossed them in coordinating coloured card and then die cut them to add even more texture to the front of the card.

Colour Creations Blog Hop featuring Bermuda Bay with Accented Blooms

Hello Crafters,

Some of the Art With Heart team have decided to do a weekly Blog Hop that highlights a different colour in our range each week. Today we are featuring one of my favourite colours, Bermuda Bay!!!

Today I’ve used the Accented Blooms stamp set with the coordinating Tailored Tag punch. I stamped the image with Versamark ink, added white embossing powder and heat set it. Then I coloured the images with Stampin’ Write Markers; Daffodil Delight, Gorgeous Grape, Melon Mambo & Bermuda Bay. Then I added some Wink of Stella to the Bermuda Bay flowers to add some shine and highlight the colour.

Accented Blooms Birthday card Stampin Up by Kate Morgan, Australia 2018.jpg

Using the Trio punch, I took out a notch on the spine of the card to thread the new gorgeous grape mini striped ribbon through and tie it in a bow!

The sentiment is from the Best Bunny stamp set. I used the Stamparatus to create this. I had the sentiment on one plate and the solid image on another. I stamped the sentiment first with Versamark and then add the white embossing powder and heat set it. Then I placed it back in the Stamparatus and inked the solid image with Bermuda Bay ink and stamped it a couple of times to get a deep, rich colour. Then I used a tissue to wipe off the excess ink from the embossed sentiment. This was then punched out and added with dimensionals.

Stampin' Up!

Birthday Wreath using Varied Vases and Stamparatus with template

Dear Crafters,

Today I share another card we made at my last class. This was another technique using the Stamparatus and a template to create this wreath style with the Varied Vases stamp set.

I created the template by cutting a piece of 3″ x 3″ cardstock and placing it in the centre of a 8″ x 8″ piece of window sheet over the grid paper. Using the more solid lines of the grid paper, I lined up the square and using a black biro, traced around the square. Then I rotated the square 45 degrees and repeated the process. I also did the same with a 4″ x 4″ on the same template.

stamparatus-template-by-kate-morgan-stampin-up-australia-2018.jpg  stamparatus-template-by-kate-morgan-stampin-up-australia-20181.jpg

Place this template onto your Stamparatus and place the 3″ x 3″ whisper white cardstock into the centre of the coordinating square. Work out your design. I had the flower image on one plate and the leaves on another. I inked the flower in Lovely Lipstick and stamped, then the leaves in Call Me Clover and stamp. Rotate the white card one rotation and repeat your stamping. Continue this process until your card is complete.

Varied Vases Wreath using Stamparatus Template Stampin Up Feminine Card by Kate Morgan, Australia 2018

I have used two new colours for my base card and layers; Highland Heather and Soft Sea Foam. They are gorgeous together!

I used some Wink of Stella on the flowers and the leaves to blend a bit of the colour and add a little sparkle. The sentiment is stamped in Highland Heather on Soft Sea Foam card and cut out using the Classic Label Punch before being added with dimensionals. I sponged the edges of each layer of cardstock.
