CCBH: Old Olive

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 36 – Old Olive

How are you enjoying the new Mini catalogue?  Have you placed an order and what was your favourite new product?

Today I feature the Planted Paradise stamp set in this very simple card.  I am very limited in my supplies this week, as I cannot get to my cardstock while we don’t have an ensuite. Last week it was totally demolished for a complete rebuild. I’m just glad the 2 days of jack jammering has finished, eek that was loud. Next week the tiling will be done and I’ll be able to access my cardstock again. Anyway enough of my hectic life, back to the card!

The card base is Thick Basic White. The vase is stamped in Pebbled Path ink. The plants are stamped in Old Olive and some also have Pebbled Path ink done with the rock n roll technique, where you ink the image in Old Olive, then roll the stamp on its edges on the Pebbled Path inkpad to get the dual tone, then stamp. Each of these are fussy cut with Paper Snips, some of the plants are cut between the leaves and added behind.

The circle behind the feature, is created using Blending Brushes and Old Olive ink. I die cut a circle (Stylish Shapes dies) from some scrap card as the template. I also flicked some Pebbled Path ink from my Pebbled Path Stampin’ Write Marker. I added the feature pieces on Stampin’ Dimensionals, a Linen Thread bow added on a Glue Dot and some Rhinestone Jewels added on the vase. I have deliberately left off a sentiment until the time comes to use this card. It could be used for any occasion!

Here you can see the splatter and the dimension of the plant.

The Glass Mat Studio is amazing. As a Demonstrator, I was able purchase this early, as it is on offer during Saleabration as part of your joining kit (worth $106!). It is such a wonderful tool. One feature I use it for is ink blending. I tap my inkpad onto the glass, then use the Blending Brushes to pick the ink up. Once done, simply wipe the ink clean with the Cleaning Cloth provided. Another item included is the white Silicone Mat as shown below. Place your open inkpad on it so it doesn’t slide around using your Blending Brushes, while you hold your mask in place. It is great to mix ink colours for watercolouring. More reasons why I love this tool can be seen here.

Sneak Peek of Two-Tone Flora Bundle

Today, I have created a predominantly Basic White card with a gorgeous pop of colour.

The gorgeous background is a large intricate die that I put Adhesive Sheet on the back of the Basic White card before die cutting. This then creates a sticky back once you remove the backing paper instead of using glue and making a big mess. This is adhered to the card base like a sticker.

Next step was to ink up some of the flowers and I decided to do a tone on tone for each one. The darker tone is the colour at full strength, then the lighter tone is stamped off once or some call it second generation stamping. Each flower and the leaves have coordinating dies, so no fussy cutting needed. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive ink. Four of the flowers are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and the others glued directly to the card.

The sentiment is stamped in Old Olive ink using the Framed Florets stamp set, then fussy cut with Paper Snips. Some Wink of Stella was added to the centres of each flower. Some new gold Adhesive-backed Sequin embellishments were added to finish it off nicely. All of these stamps, dies, sequins will be available to order from 5 January 2023, or now if you are a demonstrator, or add them to your starter kit and join to save on all your craft products!

Week 33 – Old Olive

This is our final Colour Creations blog hop for 2022, but I hope you will join us again on 4 January 2023 when we return!

Today, I have used the Cottage Rose Bundle with the coordinating Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper. I have gone with some neutrals in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso with Old Olive. All of the feature images are stamped and die cut from Crumb Cake card. The sentiment and main floral image are stamped in Versamark ink, White Emboss Powder added and heat set. I really like using the “Best Wishes” sentiment, as it can be for many occasions; birthday, sympathy, farewell, wedding, etc.

I used my Dark Crumb Cake Blends Marker around the edges of the main image so it really stands out! I used a sponge dauber to add Early Espresso ink around the sentiment which is cut using the Double Oval Punch as well as on the tips of the die cut flowers behind the focal image.

The card base is Old Olive. The next layer is a piece of the DSP cut with the largest die in the Stitched Rectangle dies, then I coloured the leaves with the Light Old Olive Blends Marker. I took a Blending Brush and added ink across the whole DSP piece. I inked one side of the Merry Melody 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with Early Espresso, placed the DSP inside and ran it through my Emboss machine. Then I used the dauber to add ink around the edges before gluing to the card base. Some printed Vellum Layering Designs was added to soften the background.

A Silver piece of Simply Elegant Trim was pulled apart to separate all the fibres. This was something that Shelli Gardner (cofounder of Stampin’ Up!) shared with us during our recent demonstrator only event and it’s such a neat trick!

It is really hard to photograph, but you can just see the Wink of Stella on the petals of the largest flower.
