Crushed Curry: Watercolour Charming Day

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 18 – Crushed Curry

This handmade card features the Charming Day stamp set and the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack.

This sentiment is just perfect with these colours reminding me of glorious sunshine, and it sure would lift the spirits of the recipient. It could also be used for any occasion like a Birthday, Mother’s Day, Sympathy, Thinking of You or Just Beacause.

How you can re-create this card

1. Create the base – a Thick White card base, 21cm x 14.9cm, scored @ 10.5cm.

2. Stamp and colour – the largest image is stamped randomly onto some Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper with Versamark ink. Gold WOW Emboss Powder is added and melted with my Heat Tool. I water coloured the images with the following inks: Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green & Mossy Meadow and left to dry.

3. Layering – Some Gold Twisted Thread is twice wrapped around the Watercolor layer before it is adhered to some Gold Foil, then onto the card base.

4. Add the sentiment – one of the sentiments from the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack is added on Dimensionals.

5. Finishing touches – stamp the image on the inside corner and on the envelope to complete the set.

Many of us also participate in the Heart of Christmas blog hop that goes live every Monday night, where we showcase Christmas inspiration in the lead up to Christmas and today, the NEW September – December Mini Catalogue is live and available for you to view online here. Mixed Media & a Fancy Decoration!

2023-2024 AWH Colour Creations header

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 20 – Crushed Curry

Today I have a technique which I truly am scared of, Mixed Media.

My card base is Thick Basic White. Then I diecut 3 of the leaf die from the Gorgeous Garden dies. But before I cut them, I added some Adhesive Sheet behind so once cut, it will resemble a sticker. This is much easier and less mess than trying to glue all these layers on top of each other. Check out the effect it gives to the background.

Now that the background is done, I got started on the Mixed Media part. I cut a piece of A4 cardstock in half so I could try this with differnt colours. You’ll see that one another time. I  began by placing my Crushed Curry inkpad directly onto the card. Then with my Blending Brushes I added layers of Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral and Sweet Sorbet. I placed the trellis style from the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks across the centre add added some Sweet Sorbet Ink with my Blending Brush.

I did this also with the Two Tone Flora dies using a diecut of the large background die as my mask. I used my Spritzer to add some water to blend some of the harsher background lines (eg the Crushed Curry inkpad) Leave to dry.  The Black Memento ink was used with the Light the Sky stamp set, and the Sweet Sorbet ink with one of the smaller stamps. I put some Gold Enamel effects onto an acrlic block with some isocol alcohol and mixed it together using an old Water Painter.  This added the gorgeous shine. Once this was dry, I added some Embossing Paste was added with the palette knife and the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks (leaf). This was the last thing I applied and takes the longest to set.

Now back to my card – I cut a strip 14cm x 5cm (5½” x 2″). I added some Adhesive Sheet to the back to allow greater adhesion to the card front. The sentiment is die cut using the Wanted to Say dies in More Dazzle for the word and Thick Basic White for the bsckground. I added this the the card with Myltipurpose Glue. Finally, some more of the Gold Enamel Effects were added as dots and left to dry.

Are you ready for a Wow 3D project?

Pop Up Ornament Tag by Kate Morgan, Stampin Up Australia 2023.

This next project is CASEd and inspired by Tami White who calls it a Pop Up Ornament Tag. This looks fancy, but it is super easy to make. As this was my first go at one, I decided to use these gorgeous bright Merry Bold & Bright DSP which is now available in the lastest Mini catalogue. I love this star pattern and I thought it was perfect for this star shaped ornament. All you need is 5 pieces of  3″x3″ DSP squares, 2 pieces of 1.5″x1.5″ DSP, 2 pieces of Gold Satin Edged ribbbon (approx. 30cm each) and a bead.

Watch this short clip to see how it works!

Next time I want to try it with some Specialty papers, that should add some more WOW.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you can join me next Wednesday for inspiration using Daffodil delight.

Please hop across to our next participant and enjoy the wonderful inspiration of Christine Blain.
