Crumb Cake: Slimline Milestone Birthday Pop Up card

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 17 – Crumb Cake

This handmade slimline card features the Party Alphabet dies and some of the Metallic Textures Rub-Ons.

I love using the colour combination of Crumb Cake with the bold Secret Sea. Those Metallic Rub-Ons are so easy to use by gently rubbing with your finger and they are super shiny.

The letters are cut twice in both colours and offset to mimic a shadow. I repeated the same process when stamping the sentiment [Layered Thoughts] on the inside. The Alphabet A La Mode dies were used to create the milestone birthday, and these are placed on the pop-up arch feature.

The mechanism is just a narrow strip of cardstock scored at 2cm intervals to create a box shape, then adhered into the centre scoreline of the card. The arches are then adhered to the mechanism.

This card fits into a DL business sized envelope.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next Wednesday for Crushed Curry inspiration.

Cajun Craze: Masculine Fun Fold card for Dad!

Welcome to the Art with Heart team Instagram hop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 13 – Cajun Craze

This handmade card features the Trusty Tools stamp set and coordinating dies for a fun masculine card for, you guessed it, my DAD!

The panel on the left acts like a roller door to lock in under that right panel to display standing up. The Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper (DSP) was perfect for this masculine card.

Here you can see the details I’ve used on each of the narrow panels. I masked off each panel and stamped the lines using the Stripes and Dots stamp set in Versamark ink, added Copper WOW Emboss Powder and melted it with my heat tool. The nuts & bolts were also copper embossed. To do this, I dragged the Versamark ink pad across some Basic White card, added Emboss Powder and melted it, then I could die cut as many nuts & bolts that I needed. Try die cutting first then embossing each one individually and not burning your fingers!!!

This is what it looks like when the card is closed (flat) to put into an envelope.

The hammer, paint brush and measuring tape were stamped and coloured using Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen to smooth out the colour. The handle of the hammer was stamped directly onto some more DSP and fussy cut to adhere, doesn’t it look cool? This is called paper piecing!

The DAD was copper embossed and fussy cut and added on dimensionals. This entire panel has dimensionals behind it, so the roller door can sit behine to display.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next Wednesday for Calypso Coral inspiration.

Blueberry Bushel: Father’s Day Joy Fold card

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 11 – Blueberry Bushel

This handmade Father’s Day fun fold card features the Textured Notes stamp set, Pretty Florals dies and the Botanical Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP).

I started with a piece of the DSP and using Blending Brushes, added the ink from Blueberry Bushel, Lost Lagoon to Coastal Cabana (I think there was some Lemon Lime Twist ink on my brush, oopsies). Once done I splattered some Blueberry Bushel ink for extra texture. On the centre piece, I repeated the process, but I also stamped some of the images from the Textured Notes stamp set. After I die cut some leaves in Lost Lagoon card and blended some Blueberry Bushel ink to the tips, I used the die cut negative piece to use as a stencil and added some blended leaves behind the focal image.

I added the small triangle in the bottom corner to hold the card closed. Simply slide the centre piece out to open the card, rather than creating a belly band! The main image is stamped and fussy cut with some ink blending to soften the white cardstock. The sentiment is from the Ephemera pack. These are brilliant for adding quick sentiments to your cards.

Night of Navy: Take to the Sky cards

Week 38 – Night of Navy

Today I feature the Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the Documenting the Day stamp set, free with a qualifying order during Saleabration (SAB) 2025.  I started with a Thick Basic White card (29.7cm x 10.5cm, scored at 7.5cm & 14.9cm). The card front is dry embossed with the So Swirly Embossing Folder which I inked up with Boho Blue ink before putting the card into the folder. The image is from the paper pack and I stamped the sentiment (So Sincere stamp set) in Versamark ink, Gold WOW Emboss Powder added and melted with my Heat Tool. This layer is matted with some DSP and Night of Navy card. Some Natural Tones Linen Thread is wrapped around and tied in a knot before the upper section is glued to the top half of the card base. Some 2023-25 In Color™ Dots are added to finish it off.

Here is how the card stands for display

The inside of the card is a Basic White insert with a matt layer of Night of Navy. I stamped the sun in Boho Blue and the sentiment in Night of Navy. The letters DAD (Documenting the Day stamp set, free with a qualifying order during SAB25)  are stamped on extra Basic White card, fussy cut and added to the card insert on Dimensionals. This is so the card front sits up for display!

Card 2 – I stamped the card front with the Elements of Text stamp set in tone on tone before added a layer of Boho Blue card dry embossed with the Timeless Plaid 3D Embossing Folder and also stamped with Elements of Text stamp set. The DSP circle (Spotlight on Nature dies) and the strip with the planes are added next. Some Natural Tones Linen Thread is added behind the sentiment (Hearts of Elegance stamp set). The edges are sponged with Boho Blue ink using a Dauber. Some 2023-25 In Color™ Dots are added.

On the inside, I added a Basic White piece of cardstock to write my sentiment and those circles of DSP, well they are leftover from the circle on the front of the card. I started with the largest circle, but felt it was too big so dicut one size smaller, but felt that was too big also, so cut it down again, leving me with these two circles. So as not to waste them, I added them here!!!

On the inside the sentiment and images are stamped and then coloured using a Blender Pen.

For the Books Bookmark card Misty Moonlight Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan Stampin up Australia 2025 inside

To use Blender Pens

  1. Stamp an image in Tuxedo Black Memento ink or Jet Black StāzOn ink on Basic White Cardstock. Allow the ink to dry.
  2. Squeeze a Classic Stampin’ Pad in the middle to transfer some ink to the inside of the lid (or you can use Classic Stampin’ Ink Refills).
  3. Pick up some ink with your Blender Pen and colour your image. Add more ink for darker shades.
  4. When changing colours or finishing your project, clean the Blender Pen by simply scribbling on scrap paper until there’s no more colour transferring from the pen.

Artist Tips

  • Blender Pens may stain, but that won’t affect the results. Reuse them again and again!
  • Blender Pens give you a watercolour effect, but they don’t saturate the paper like Water Painters can.
  • Blender Pens give you more colour options than Watercolor Pencils because they can be used with any Classic Stampin’ Ink.
  • Blender Pens provide a less-intense result than Stampin’ Blends.
  • Blender Pens were a perfect fit for the books in the For the Books Stamp Set because their fine tips work well with smaller images and details.

As a bonus, when you spend $100+ you get to select free product from the Saleabration brochure. This card showcases two of the free products; Bloom Impressions Designer Paper and the Pick a Season stamp set.

Week 21 – Crushed Curry

free shipping 18 sept 2024

Today I feature the Frosted Forest Bundle and the Meandering Meadows Designer Paper in this thank you card.

Forever Forest Thank you card for Crushed Curry Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan Stampin Up Australia 2024

On a Thick White card base, I stamped the large tree image twice in Basic Beige ink to give a watermark look. A strip of the designer paper with a small strip of Festive Glimmer above it, for a little sparkle, are adhered together. Some Linen Thread is wrapped around twice and tied in a bow. This is adhered to the lower half on the card.

The sentiment is stamped in Pecan Pie ink onto Crushed Curry cardstock and diecut with a banner from the Stlyish Shapes dies. This is adhered on Dimensionals to the card.

The tree is stamped in Pecan Pie ink before using the masks and Blending Brushes to colour the image. The trunk is Pecan Pie, while the leaves I started with Crushed Curry on the tops, followed by Lost Lagoon and then the final mask is Pretty Peacock ink. Once diecut, it was also added on Dimensionals. To finish off, some Pretty Peacock Tinsel Gems are added.

Copper Clay: Frosted Forest Masculine Birthday card

2024-25 blog header

I’m thrilled you are here to join us each Wednesday evening for the AWHT Colour Creations Blog Hop showcasing the full range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 19 – Copper Clay

Today I feature the Frosted Forest bundle in this Masculine card. Masculine cards are certainly not my strength, but I had a go!

I began by cutting two strips of Copper Clay card, spritzed them well with water and scrunched them up and left them to dry while I worked on the rest of the card.

I started with a layer of Granny Apple Green cardstock and some Take a Bow Designer Series Paper (DSP). Before gluing these together, I diecut the leafy top die from the centre of the DSP. Then these two layers are glued together and placed into my Timber 3D Embossing Folder to add some texture. This is glued to the Copper Clay card base.

Masculine Frosted Forest Card for Copper Clay Colour Creations Blog Hop by Kate Morgan Stampin Up Australia 2024

Once the scrunched strips were die, I flattened them slightly and added them to the card base. Don’t they create a lovely texture?!!

The tree image is made up of three dies and these pieces are glued together. he sentiment is heat embossed with Copper WOW Embossing Powder onto Garden Green cardstock and fussy cut. Some Copper Metallic dots were added to finish.

On the inside (and envelope) I stamped the same tree image. I matted this insert on some Garden Green card to carry across the colours from the front.
