Week 26 – Melon Mambo
Tonight I have a little sneak peek of a new stamp set available in the 2022 Mini Catalogue, called In the Moment Cling Stamp Set.
The main image is stamped in Black Memento ink and coloured with Stampin’ Blends Combo Markers. I stamped the image again onto some patterned paper (the same piece as the scalloped frame), fussy cut it and glued it to the stamped image. This technique is called Paper Piecing. Once this was done, I felt it needed a lovely blue sky, so I used the Blending Brushes with the Pool Party ink and the cloud shape from the Basic Borders dies to create the sky. I continued this to the bottom of the white card, as this lady is on a top balcony of a Gold Coast highrise apartment on holidays, enjoying a 5 o’clock wine (are you with me?!!) I think all this time in lockdown has me yearning for a holiday 😉
This is the inside with more clouds at the top, a sentiment and some scalloped edging at the bottom using the two patterned papers and the Scalloped Countours dies.
Thanks for dropping by. All the products used tonight are linked at the end of this post!

Oh yes, a holiday in Qld drinking wine on the top balcony of our holiday unit. I can feel the warmth of the sun and feel the gentle summer breeze just by looking at your fabulous card, Kate. Love the paper pieced hat and scalloped die cut layers. Gorgeous summery colours.

Like Tina, I’m slightly green that you are already playing with this stamp. Love, love, love what you have done with the scalloped frame and matching paper-pieced hat. Something I like to do too. The colours are so zingy, makes me yearn for a proper summer holiday too.

Beautiful use of colour, and your imagination, Kate! Perfect setting. I love the way you created the clouds, and paper-pieced her hat; and the inside decoration is delightful. x

Kate, your gorgeous card has instantly transported me to a high rise on the Goldie – sadly, I think we will all be travelling overseas before we’re allowed into Queensland again! In the meantime I will raise my glass to to you, your creativity and your gorgeous Melon Mambo card. Love the paper piecing for the hat – It really unites the scalloped layer with the image.
