Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.
Week 13 – Crumb Cake
I have chosen a soft colour palette for tonight’s card using the Delicate Dahlias stamp set. This is one of the free items in Sale•a•bration brochure with any $180+ order. This stamp set has the outline for the flower and also a full image stamp to colour inside the lines. I found using the Stamparatus was much easier to line the stamps up!
My card base is Blushing Bride, embossed with the Ornate Floral 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. First I stamped the outline of the dahlia flower onto a post-it note and cut it out with Paper Snips, on the inner edge of the stamping. Then I took an A5 piece of Basic White cardstock and stamped one of the dahlia flowers then placed the post-it note over the top and stamped the second flower and the third flower using the same process.
I stamped the outline of the flowers in Crumb Cake and the centres are Blushing Bride, So Saffron and Soft Sea Foam. The sentiment is stamped in Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake card and cut out with Everyday Label Punch. The sentiment is smaller than the punch, so I placed it back in the punch and took more off each end. I used a sponge dauber to softly add ink around the edges.
The wood frame is the In Good Taste DSP and die cut using two of the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I used the smaller Stitched Rectangle Die again to cut out the stamped flowers to insert into the frame. The frame and the sentiment are all added to the card base on dimensionals.
Card 2 is for Father’s Day! Have you made your cards yet?!!! Father’s Day is not far away, as in Australia, we celebrate it on 5th September. As I need to mail my cards (possibly both this year if we are still in lockdown), I needed to get them in the mail this week. So for my card tody, I am creating a fancy fold with the Feels Like Home stamp set.
Open the front of the card to begin revealing your centre message panel.
and the next to reveal the message inside with some In Good Taste DSP on the side panels. These sentiments are from the Hats Off stamp set.
Here is a close up of the image on the card front, stamped with Versamark Ink with White Emboss Powder, then heat set with the Heat Tool. I was thinking of colouring it, but I loved the crispness of the white against the Crumb Cake, so I left it. The sentiment is from the Free as a Bird stamp set.
Basic measurements:
Crumb Cake Card: 10.4cm x 14cm & 9cm x 9cm
Crumb Cake Card: 10.5cm x 28cm, scored at 10.5cm & 21cm
Thick White card: 13.5cm x 10cm & 10cm x 10cm
In Good Taste DSP: 10cm x 10cm & 10cm x 6.5cm (2)
Update: Want to hear a funny story? Actually, it’s not funny at all and I want to cry. We have a 5 month old puppy, Arlo, who loves to chew… well, he got to my card (that was in an envelope) and this is all that’s left of it, along with the chewed up paper/envelope 😢 Back to the drawing board to create another one for my dad, grrr. Lucky I still have a week to get it made and that I had photographed this one already!!!
but how do you get angry at this face?!!!!

Oh dear Arlo but you are right how could you get angry at that face. Your first card is just lovely with the use of such soft colours.

How could you be angry with that face? Arlo is adorable and so are your cards. I particularly love the second one. Puts a whole new spin on the excuse, “The dog ate my homework!!!” I would like a dollar for every time I heard that in my nearly 40 years of teaching.

Oh dear! What a shame that Arlo decided that your wonderful card was a suitable chew toy! I would want to cry, too! They are both fabulous cards – I loved the simple embossed image on the second, and the masked flowers on the first were a great idea.

Your first card is so soft and pretty, Kate. I really love the dahlias stamped in Crumb Cake and the embossed Blushing Bride card base. Oh Arlo! Thank goodness you at least got the “before” photos Kate. It WAS a lovely fun-fold card.

You are making good use of the SAB stamps and doing a lovely job of making us all want them. I think the soft colours for the dahlias are lovely, and of course the white embossing looked great too, until Arlo added his mark. Oh dear!

Oh my goodness Arlo, not happy. What a great card for your Dad, I loved all the elements that you had created for that card. Bad gorgeous sweet puppy😭 Your first card was also lovely and maybe should have been made after your first.. Really beautiful colours. Both great cards Kate and I know your Dad will love the remake.

Your dahlias have come up beautifully in the different colours. I love the Father’s Day fancy fold card and especially the white embossed scene. Soooo sorry the puppy chewed the card! Naughty puppy but can relate when ours was younger he would chew on anything lying around. And no you can’t stay upset with them when they are so cute.

The soft colour palette you have used for your first card is gorgeous. I had a giggle at Arlo’s effort towards your second card. I guess he likes to help card making as well? LOL

I love the soft colour palette you’ve used on your first card, Kate. The dahlias look beautiful with a Crumb Cake outline, and I really love your use of the DSP. Actually, I love your use of the In Good Taste DSP on BOTH of your cards! The Feels Like Home image looks beautiful white-embossed on Crumb Cake, and the inside of the card is very clever. I nearly cried for you, when I saw what happened to your Dad’s original card … but, you’re right, it’s a bit hard to get too mad at that adorable little boy!

They were both beautiful cards Kate, I’m so glad you got photos taken before the Arlo incident. Such a cute face though! Our Daisy is banned from my space, although they more sooo quickly.

Oh naughty, naughty but totally adorable Arlo! Please add a photo to him to the end of every blog post – I just can’t get enough of him! BTW, I need to stop talking about the dog – both your cards are so beautiful Kate x
