Balmy Blue: Mediterranean Blooms

2024-25 blog header

I’m thrilled you are here to join us each Wednesday evening for the AWHT Colour Creations Blog Hop showcasing the full range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 8 – Balmy Blue

Today I feature the Mediterranean Blooms Designer Series Paper. If you know me, you know I love blue and this paper is beautiful.

Project 1

The main image is fussy cut using Paper Snips from a piece of the Designer Paper and the reverse side has these gorgeous blue patterns. On my Balmy Blue cardbase, I have a layer of ther DSP matted onto Night of Navy cardstock. On top of this is a Night of Navy piece diecut using the Countryside Corners dies and dry embossed with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder.

The image is added with Dimensionals and I used my Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends Marker to colour the centre section between the oranges which was white. I felt it blended better. I cut some Night of Navy Glittered Ribbon lengthwise so it was narrow and tied it in a double bow and placed it just under the lower orange. The sentiment is heat embossed in White Emboss Powder and Versamark ink, then fussy cut. Some Brushed Brass Butterflies were added to finish off.

The inside of the card I decorated with more layers of the Countryside Corners dies and a strip of DSP.

Project 2

A little Pocket card or it could be used for a gift card. Patty Bennett, a US Demonstrator, shared her version of these a week or two ago and I thought it was such a neat idea to use Designer papers to create the envelope/pocket. Here I have used two more of the patterns from the DSP. The labels on the front are Unbounded Love dies and the flower is coloured using Wink of Stella. Some balmy Blue Rainbow Adhesive-backed Dots are added below the sentiment.

I decided to create a litte card with a tag [Perennial Postage & Unbounded Love dies] to pull it out. The sentiment [Country Birdhouse] is stamped in Balmy Blue ink.

Week 10 – Balmy Blue

Today I share my bookmark card. I haven’t made one of these for a few years, and now that Stampin’ Up! have added a new line of accessories for the Take Your Pick Tool, which includes the Rotary Perforating Tip, it was time to revisit this design.

My Balmy Blue card base is 10¾” x 5¾”, score at 4¼”. Rotate 180o and score again at 2¼” then perforate this line with the Take Your Pick Tool with Rotary Perforating Tip and a ruler.

Using Paper Snips, I angled the corners then decorated with Misty Moonlight card and a strip of Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper, Very Best Trio Punch and Misty Moonlight Inner Braid ribbon.

On the front, is a matt layer of Misty Moonlight card with DSP on top. The Basic White frame was created using 2 of the Countryside Corners dies. I thought it was a little too bright, so I sponged the edges with Balmy Blue ink and a Sponge Dauber. This is glued to the card. Using the Paper Florist dies, I created some flowers. The leaves are cut from Vellum. Some Silver Trim is added amongst the flowers which are glued to the card.

The sentiment [Sending Smiles stamp set] is stamped onto Balmy Blue card in the same colour ink and die cut using the Countryside Corners die. I felt it was too high, so I sat it in the die again and cut it smaller. Some Misty Moonlight fringing was added below. This sits on some Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Wink of Stella is added to the floral centres and some Silver Metallic Enamel Effects to each of the stamen.

Triangle Patchwork Card

2022-23 CCBH Logo

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining  the Colour Creations Blog Hop to bring you creative inspiration showcasing our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 6 – Balmy Blue

Tonight we showcase Balmy Blue, and I have teamed it with Night of Navy and the gorgeous Abstract Beauty Specialty DSP.

I love this easy design using the gorgeous Abstract Beauty patterned papers as a patchwork style background. Using 4 rectangles of DSP measuring 6.9cm x 4.5cm and then cut each one on the diagonal so you have 8 triangles. Lay them out in your desired pattern.

The sentiment is stamped onto Basic White card and die cut using the Stylish Shapes dies. A Navy banner in the next size up was cut to place behind. I felt there was something missing, so I used the Give it a Whirl dies to cut a heart from the new In Color Glimmer card. Don’t you think it makes all the difference?!!!

Colour Creations Showcase – Balmy Blue

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Today is the first day we begin this new adventure of the Colour Creations Showcase. You may recall we did one of these with the last colour refresh a year or two ago, and it was loads of fun, so every Wednesday we will bring to you, projects showcasing one particular Stampin’ Up! colour. There are 50 colours in the collection and today we begin with Balmy Blue!

For today’s card I am using the stamp set, A Good Man and some of the new designer series paper, World of Good, along with some other new products available in the Annual catalogue.

World of Good SDSP

My colour combination

Balmy Blue Night of Navy Whisper White Early Epresso

The designer paper is given that aged look with the new Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder. It is just perfect for this project, don’t you think?

The image is stamped with Memento Black ink and coloured with Stampin’ Blends Markers, then die cut using the Tasteful Labels dies. I ran the Saddle Brown Stazon ink pad around the edges of this die cut image (and the Designer Paper) to add that aged look.

On the inside of the card, I added a layer of Balmy Blue and Whisper White card and stamped the sentiment and a heart in coordinating inks.
