Card in a Box Style, feminine, Gift Ideas, Handmade Cards

Cake in a Box

Dear Crafters,

Today I share something a little different to the usual cards and Project Life creations. I received this little decorative window gift box from another demonstrator to come up with something special. So I got to work and thought about turning it into a different type of card, a card in a box!

Seeing as I had some leftover butterflies from a previous project, I thought I would use them on the top of this cute little box and add some ribbon around the base.

As you know, I love butterflies, and so does my dear friend who turned 50 last week and had her big party on Saturday night, hence why I couldn’t post this sooner!!!! Happy Birthday Lisa, this is for you!

Cake in a box

You may have noticed I called this box a decorative window box? Well it did have a clear window sheet opening at the top but that was going to defeat the purpose of my little creation. Why, you say? well keep reading and you will see why.

Now are you ready to see inside? This is my favourite part!!!!

Cake in a box

I used the Big Day stamp set with Strawberry Slush ink on Crisp Canteloupe card stock and added a small Itty Bitty Flower punch from the Accents Punch Pack with a rhinestone in the centre.

In the box is a cake made from a battery operated tea light candle. The idea is to turn the light on before you hand it over to the recipient, hence why I wanted to cover up the acetate window on the top!

Cake in a box

The inspiration to make this special card in a box was from Terri Suzuki and you can find her tutorial on this by clicking here.

What do you think? Isn’t it stunning?

Here’s a close up with the candle turned on!

Cake in a box

I also added some rhinestones around the top of the cake and the base.

I would love for you to comment below with your thoughts on this creation.

Butterflies, Challenges, feminine, Handmade Cards

All Abloom Butterfly

Dear Crafters,

Today I entered a Creative Sketch Challenge as part of our Art With Heart Team.

I used the All Abloom DSP Stack and the Butterfly Basics & Butterfly Thinlits Bundle, along with Crisp Cantaloupe, Mossy Meadow & Pistachio Pudding card stock!

Butterfly Basics

I love these colours together and who doesn’t love butterflies and flowers?!!!

Butterfly Basics

I embossed the Scalloped circle with the Perfect Polka Dot TIEF and sponged the edges with the coordinating ink and a dauber. The sentiment is stamped with Mossy Meadow ink.

I also decorated the inside of the card with a strip of the same paper I used on the front and die cut another butterfly from the same DSP to adhere to the envelope!

Butterfly Basics

Don’t forget that the Butterfly Bundle is only on sale until the end of Sale-a-bration. By purchasing the bundle you save yourself 15%, and who wouldn’t want to do that?!!!!

It’s a Girl!

Dear Crafters,

With loads of my friends and work colleagues who are pregnant at the moment, I thought I had better stock up on some baby cards. Not knowing if they are having a boy or a girl, I thought I had better do a few of each!!!!

I just love this cute Happy Heart embossing folder, so needed to include some on my baby cards. I have used the colours Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral and Real Red along with some of the Stacked With Love DSP.

Baby Girl

I stamped the jumpsuit with one of the images from Something For Baby, and die cut it with the coordinating Baby’s First Framelits. These two products can be purchased as a bundle saving you 15%.

Baby Girl

I added a heart punched from some Real Red Core’dinations card stock using the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack.

Be sure to decorate the inside panel of your card and even the envelope!

Crazy About You

Dear Crafters,

I am going to share a card with you today of a colour combination that I don’t usually put together, but in fact, I have fallen in love with!

I have used two Bundles from the Occasions Catalogue and with each bundle you can save 15%.

The 1st bundle is Crazy About You stamp set and the Hello You Thinlits, and the 2nd bundle is Petal Potpourri stamp set and the coordinating Flower Medallion punch.

Flowers make me happy and this card certainly is a bright and happy card.

Petal Potpourri Crazy About You Stampin' Up!

The base card is Hello Honey with a layer of Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper.

The flowers are stamped in Hello Honey ink on the coordinating card stock and punched out using the coordinating Flower Medallion Punch. I used dimensionals to add the flowers to the card, slightly overlapping them, after adding some Hello Honey ribbon and bow.

Petal Potpourri Crazy About You Stampin' Up!

I added the “happy” die cut from the Hello You Thinlits and added it with Tombo Glue. The “birthday” sentiment is stamped and punched with the Word Window punch.

Be sure to decorate the inside panel of your card and even the envelope!

Celebrate Today at JAI

Hello Crafters,

Today I enter a challenge at Just Add Ink. The challenge this week is an inspiration challenge JAI#250.

My immediate reaction to this image was Valentine’s Day, but that was celebrated yesterday, so I changed to a birthday theme. There are so many birthday celebrations, so I know this card won’t last too long in my stash!

I have also had this idea of making an interactive moving card for so long now, that today was the day to give it a go. I didn’t know the mechanics of it, but gave it a shot of trial and error. Simply pull the flag tab and the balloons move across the card from left to right. Push it back in and the balloons drift back! I have no idea what the name of this technique is, but it was fun to make.

Celebrate Today

I have this Celebrate Today stamp set in photopolymer and it is the ideal type for 2-step stamping, as the stamp is completely clear and you can see exactly where to stamp the second image! Awesome!

The base card is Black with a layer of balloons stamped in Strawberry Slush ink and then stamped again with Blackberry Bliss ink. The hearts on the left balloon were sponged with a dauber using the Heart Mask. The banner is die cut from Glimmer paper as are the tassels.

The sentiment is inked with Versamark and silver embossing powder applied and heat set.

Celebrate Today

Be sure tho decorate the inside panel of your card and even the envelope helps tie it all together!

Please leave a comment below, if you think my card met this challenge.

Why don’t you give a challenge a go, they are so much fun. Head across to the Just Add Ink page for more inspiration and see how the designers interpreted this challenge.

Best Day Ever

Dear Crafters,

How did you enjoy yesterdays blog hop? I thought there were some wonderful creations for our inspiring team members!

Well today, I continue the theme of my blog post and created another card using the same stamp set, DSP and colour combinations.

Best Day Ever

The base card is Calypso Coral stamped with the coordinating ink. The Soft Suede layer, I punched with the scallop border punch and added a piece of the Best Year Ever Designer Paper. I used the banner punch to add some interest to the side of the card.

The sentiment from the Best Day Ever Stamp set is stamped on Whisper White card stock in Coastal Cabana ink and mounted onto Calypso Coral Core’dinations card stock.

Best Day Ever  Best Day Ever

I added the ribbon, but wasn’t sure about a bow, I thought that it didn’t suit the style of this card, so I just made a very simple knot.

Be sure to decorate the inside panel of your card and even the envelope!

Best Day Ever

I would love you to comment below with your thoughts on this card.
