Colour Creations: Pumpkin Pie makes for a glorious sunset

Welcome back to another Art With Heart Team Colour Creations weekly Blog Hop. Today we are featuring our 41st colour; Pumpkin Pie.

As we near the end of March it also means we near the end of Sale-a-bration and for you to earn FREE product. So don’t let this be you!

Today’s project was inspired by Michelle Zindorf from Ohio who is the absolute master of colouring. I admire her work and try to recreate similar effects, but I have a long way to go!!!

Pumpkin Pie is certainly one of my least used colours and so it stumped me when it came time to use it for this blog hop, although I do love a glorious sunset and so that is where the idea began. I also hadn’t inked up this Happy Tails stamp set nor used the coordinating Dog Builder punch, so perfect time to get it out and get creating.

The background is created by sponging Mango Melody at the top, then some Pumpkin Pie ink. Then I used my AquaPinter with some Garden Green ink and swiped it across the centre of the card to create the horizon. I then sponged from the bottom with Garden Green ink and swished up with the sponge dauber to get the grassy effect.

The dog is punched from basic black card and I used a HB pencil to draw the lines for the shadow. Don’t look too closely at my wobbly hands LOL

On the inside I sponged the edges and stamped the dog house in Pumpkin Pie and the Mango Melody solid layer is stamped off once for a lighted tone.

The paw prints were not going to appear as part of the card, but guess what… I got a couple of tiny smudge marks and these paws are there to cover them up!!! LOL. Have you ruined a card at the final step too, and needed to embellish, rather than starting over?

You know, when I saw this stamp set, I like it, but I wasn’t keen to have to fussy cut around those little froggy limbs, if you know what I mean?!!

Until Stampin’ Up! told us that they were bringing out framelits for a limited time only during March 2019 to coordinate with many of the Sale-a-bration items, and guess what, this set was added to my very next order!!!!

If you want to get these framelits though, they are only available while stocks last and believe me, they are worth their weight in gold!!!

We made this card at my latest techniques class and the ladies loved it. The white layer and Soft Seam Foam layer we embossed with the Subtle TIEF. Each layer is glued down flat, but the die cut images are added with diminsionals.

We used the Stampin’ Blends markers to colour the images – how cute is it?

The strip of designer paper is now retired from the Holiday catalogue, but I had just the right amount left over and it coordinates perfectly with this stamp set.

Painted Seasons for a special birthday

On Sunday it was my mother-in-law, Bev’s birthday and this was the card we sent her. She lives 6 hours drive away from us, so we don’t get to visit them often, but we are very close. Bev is even a team member and we are going to Auckland together next month for OnStage Live event… the biggest Stampin’ Up! event of the year, and we cannot wait!!!

These distinctive stamps make creating so easy. These flowers look so real and they are only stamped in one colour and one impression!!! What a great background it makes, and doesn’t it look like designer paper?!!!

Highland Heather and Soft Sea Foam are a delightful colour combination, don’t you think? I adore it together.

Today is my mum’s 70th birthday, and we will have a lovely celebration this weekend for her but in the meantime, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM! I can’t share her card with you just yet either, so I have a design we made at my recent class using the Butterfly Gala Suite.

This Gingham Gala paper is super versatile, you can use it for any type of project; masculine or feminine!

On the inside I simply glued a piece of gingham paper and another small stamped butterfly. I would also add a sentiment of Happy Birthday or Thinking of You, but I haven’t worked out who I am giving it to just yet.

Happiness Blooms in a W Fold card

Today, I have a W Fold card which I cased from Jan B in the UK!

I am using the Butterfly Gala stamp set and coordinating Duet Butterfly Punch with the bright and cheery, Happiness Blooms DSP.

The card base is Call Me Clover, 11¾” x 4⅛”, scored at 5⅞”. I cut a 20″ piece of the ribbon and placed it around the card so ties closed with a bow on the opening. By placing a bit of snail across the centre helps hold it in place until you adhere the 2 pieces of DSP (5⅝” x 3⅞”) over the top to hold it in place.

I used the Starburst & 2″ circle punch and stamped the sentiment with Night of Navy ink. The butterflies were stamped five times in Night of Navy ink and then stamped with Calypso Coral and Call Me Clover ink before covering with my favourite product, Wink of Stella!!

Do you see that Metallic Silver thread… yes it was silver, but now it is green, because I coloured it with my Dark Call Me Clover Stampin’ Blend Marker!!!!

On the inside I placed two more pieces of the Happiness Blooms DSP then a strip of Calypso Coral card measuring 11¼” x 1⅛”, scored at 2⅞”, 5⅝”, 8⅜”. I also die cut some squares using the Layering Squares Framelits dies (3rd smallest square & 4th smallest scallop square) and glued them together and to the centre of the strip.

Before gluing each butterfly to the squares, look at where you want them placed and stamp the antennae, then glue down the butterflies. It’s easier doing that first, rather than after.

Colour Creations: Petal Pink with Needlepoint Nook Bargello Technique

Welcome back to another Art With Heart Team Colour Creations weekly Blog Hop. Today we are featuring our 36th colour; Petal Pink.

This colour has more of an apricot tone and it is one of the many colours in the Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper. I have gone with the Bargello Technique again to create the background. You may have seen me use this Technique in last Friday’s post.

My Colour Combination is: Petal Pink, Berry Burst, Old Olive

I die cut a Vellum oval and embossed it with the Needlepoint Elements Framelit. I did this so it didn’t totally hide that gorgeous Bargello background.
