Today I’ve created this special milestone birthday card for my father-in-law who celebrated his 80th birthday on the weekend!
Patty Bennett (US demonstrator) recently showed a card similar to this for a 75th birthday and it was perfect for this special occasion.
I used the following inks (Granny Apple Green, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry & Balmy Blue) to stamp the front of the card using the Biggest Wish stamp set. The hearts are from the Share a Milkshake stamp set. The white Scallop Contours layer is added with Multipurpose glue.
As you open the card, you will see all the candles, one for each year. I thought this was safer than having 80 candles on his cake!!!!
You can see by this video it was going to be far to hard to photograph this card fully open, hehe
Basically, this is 5 cards joined together with a DSP hinge (7cm x 10.4cm, scored in half at 3.5cm). You’ll need 4 of them.
I was able to get 8 candles (1.5cm x 7.5cm) on each side of the card. I also placed a 2cm strip of DSP along the bottom of each opening to ground the candles.
I used the Dandy Designs DSP which was one of the recent Saleabration items (retired), as I loved all the bright colours. The flame for each candle is stamped in Crushed Curry ink. Are you wondering where this stamp is from? Well, I couldn’t find anything to use, and I’d already stuck all those candles onto the card, so I grabbed a piece of the cling rubber that surrounds your stamps when you buy them and cut my own flame shape!!!!
Are you tempted to give this a try for your next milestone birthday?
Thanks for dropping by.
