Happy 7th Birthday to my baby girl!

Dear Crafters,

Today we celebrate my baby girl’s birthday as she turns 7. Even better, they have a curriculum day at school, so a day at home to celebrate with a party with her school friends this afternoon!

I don’t know where those years have gone as she is growing up so fast. All she wanted for her birthday was a ginger kitten so guess what? Yes, she got her ginger kitten for her birthday! He was a very scared kitty when we first met him and he reminded us of Puss in Boots from the movie Shrek… you know that cute scared face! Well, this little kitty is now called BOOTS!

Anyway, he is slowly settling in now. The card I want to share with you today is also for the birthday girl and I had to make a card with the new Pretty Kitty stamp set!!!

I coloured the image with Copic markers and yes, it had to be ginger.

Squash card

Dear Crafters,

Here’s a nifty technique for a squash card or triple diamond fold card. I’m not entirely sure what it is called but this is mine!

Basically, I started with 3 squares of card measuring 6″ x 6″. Score each piece in half, rotate 90 degrees and score in half again. Then score from one corner to the opposite corner but only do this once on each of the 3 pieces.

Each of the individual squares are now 3″ x 3″ so cut 8 DSP squares at 2-3/4″. Then cut 6 of these (saving 2 for the front and back) diagonally and paste them to the inside of the card.

Also cut 4 x blushing bride squares measuring 2-3/4″ and glue them to the centre squares then stamp on them.

here it is fully open ~ sometimes I have made these with photos placed inside as a lovely memory keepsake!!!

Team Tulips

Dear Crafters,

On Saturday morning it was my eldest daughters last game of netball for the season. Yes, no more early mornings out in the cold for at least a month until next season starts!

Their coach Sharon, was fantastic with each and every one of them, mentoring them to new heights. So as a thank you, I made this card on behalf of the team to give to her along with a beautiful bunch of flowers.

I chose this retired stamp because the team were called the “Tulips” and I felt it as appropriate for the occasion.

I love this Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series paper. I added some Wink of Stella onto the tulips. Not sure if you can see it in the photo?

One Sheet Wonder

Dear Crafters,

One Sheet Wonders are a fantastic way to make some cards to give as a gift. They all coordinate and are actually quite easy to produce.

I saw this idea from a UK demonstrator, Michelle Last, and I wanted to give it a go myself.

I began stamping the A4 sheet of Whisper White cardstock using the Blooms & Wishes stamp set.

Then you cut up the sheet like this below!

TIP: Before I cut the sheet, I placed an A4 window sheet over the top and used a black sharpie to draw the lines and measurements so I have a template to use again!!!

and these are all the cards you can make with each of the pieces that have been stamped. Also using the Pop of Pink Washi Tape, and the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, you can create 7 of your own coordinating cards from 1 sheet of A4 card!!!

I think we all know that I love cats and today’s card is certainly using kitty cats! This is a new stamp set in the current annual catalogue called Pretty Kitty. It has 11 stamps in the set and they are super cute!

Butterflies, feminine, Stampin' Up!

Butterfly with Detailed Floral Wings

Do you love butterflies like me? Yes? I find I am always drawn to butterflies for many different types of cards, from sympathy to birthday to Thanks or even just a Thinking of You card!

The card base is Rich Razzleberry with a layer of Very Vanilla embossed with the Fluttering textured impressions embossing folder. Each of these butterflies has a shimmer, which was added by brushing some Wink of Stella over each one.

The layered squares framelits were used to create the square layer and some lace trim added to the bottom of this layer before adding it to the card with dimensionals.

I die cut a piece of Blooms & Bliss Designer paper with the Bold Butterfly framelit.

I die cut the larger of the Detailed Floral Thinlits in Very Vanilla card, then placed the bold butterfly framelit over the top and die cut it. Leaving it in the framelit and not removing it just yet, I added small dobs of Tombo glue to the back and then placed the Designer Series Paper butterfly over it, easily lining it up using the edges of the framelit!

I added Wink of Stella to the Vanilla pattern on the butterfly.

Tie some gold cording trim around the body of the butterfly and two small pieces for the antennae. I also tied a bow around the front of the trim, before adding it to the card with dimensionals.

I haven’t added a sentiment, because it really doesn’t need one, but it can then be used for any occasions!!!

Macaron Madness

Well, today I have a very yummy and delicious looking card that I created as part of a challenge with our SU team. Some very worthy demonstrators got to experience the Mediterranean Cruise in May and then extended their time in Paris. This photo of the macaron tower was in a shop window in Paris and wow, who wouldn’t take a photo of it, it’s a beauty! So when Claire returned, she challenged our team to create a project using this photo as inspiration. I immediately knew what I was going to create!!!!

Using the Build a Birthday & Balloon Builder stamp sets, I began by stamping the cake stand, then layering up my Macarons one by one. Then I added a layer of double sided tape and sprinkled over some gold glitter to create the layers in between.

I added the clear Wink of Stella to the centre of each macaron, I’m not sure if you can see that in the photo?

I loved this card so much, I decided to make another one using the bigger stamps from the same Balloon Builder stamp set. Who said you had to make balloons? I love to think outside the box!!!!

This time I used made some Peekaboo Peach, Mint Macaron and Sweet Sugarplum macarons!!!! They look so good I could eat them.

I have recently got my hands on this gorgeously cute Hostess stamp set, Love You Lots!

I just adore all the images in this stamp set, but today I focus on the cute little hedgehogs. I also wanted to use the Affectionately Yours DSP and these Watermelon Wonder and Crumb Cake pages. I find them super busy and sometimes they even make your eyes go funny when you first look at them, so I found that by layering them and mounting them onto black card stock, really broke it up!

I watercoloured the hedgehogs with the Aqua painter and ink pads and used the Markers to colour the flower and stem.

World Chocolate Day!

Dear Crafters,

Today is World Chocolate Day and what better way to celebrate than with a card in its honour!!!

I LOVE chocolate, no I mean I REALLY LOVE and this card is probably going to stay in my stash as I really love it also!!!

There is a lot of work in this card, in that there are lots of little pieces to cut and glue together. You will need some patience for this one if you are to make it!

The black card base is A5 (21cm x 14.8cm) scored in the centre at 10.5cm.

Sweet Sugarplum layer is 10cm x 14.3cm (sponge the edges)

Black layer is 9cm x 13.3cm

12 x Chocolate pieces (chocolate chip cardstock) are 2cm x 2.5cm (sponge edges) & top layer is 1.5cm x 2cm (sponge edges then embossed with Floral Affection Embossing folder). Glue each piece down with Tombo Multipurpose glue.

Make sure you do sponge the edges of all the cardstock as it gives it the depth needed to make it look real. Yes, it is a lot of work but how cool is it though?

Cut a piece of DSP to 11cm x 8cm. At each side I folded it over and glued to the back so the block actually looks wrapped.On the right side it is cut at 6cm up to the left side to get that angle. Before gluing it down, add some aluminium foil.

How beautiful is this colour combination too? I love the Sweet Sugarplum, Chocolate Chip and Black together.

I even added another piece of chocolate to the bottom right inside of the card and the envelope (although I didn’t take photos of these, oops!)

Dear Crafters,

Today I focus on showcasing the Floral Boutique designer series paper and what better way, than to put multiple pieces onto one card!

I stamped the image down the right hand side and layered up pieces of the dsp to the left, overlapping them and matting them with night of navy card stock.

I added the sentiment inking up only the word ‘thanks’ from the stamp ‘A special note of thanks to you…’. Then punched it out and layered it onto a scallop oval punched piece of navy card stock and adhered to the card with dimenionals. I added a few rhinestones to finish it off.
