Flower Patch with a twist!

Hello Crafters,

First of all today, I want to wish my gorgeous girl, Annika a very happy 8th birthday. I can’t believe we are so blessed to have had you for 2920 days in our lives already!

To commemorate this special day, I wanted to share with you some of her favourite colours and they can be found on one very beautiful bird that I grew up with in our neighbourhood living so close to the Cataract Gorge in Launceston, Tasmania.

No, I don’t live in Tassie anymore, but I still have the most vivid memories as a child growing up in such a gorgeous environment and these stunning birds wandering around.

Yes, it is the peacock!

Flower Patch Peacock

I have created this using the Flower Patch Stamp Set and the Flower Fair framelits dies which can be purchased as bundle saving you a huge 15%.

I also used the Owl punch.

I should have photographed him before I put it into the frame to stop the glare off the glass, but I think you can see him clearly enough.

Flower Patch Peacock

I used Pool Party as the base of the feathers, then Pistachio Pudding then Bermuda Bay. The body of the peacock is Pacific Point cardstock and I sponged the edges with the same colour ink and a sponge dauber. The circles are punched from Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake and a Pacific Point heart with a tiny Bermuda Bay dot.

c

Rhinestones were added to the feathers for a bit of bling as these birds are such a showy animal!

Please leave a message to let me know what you think of my design.

Gift box for Chocolates

Hello Crafters,

Today I share with you a cute gift box which will fit inside 6 Ferrero Rocher chocolates inside (who doesn’t love receiving chocolates!) and of course I don’t have any chocolates left to put inside my box to show you!!!!

Gift Box

To make this box, you need 2 pieces of 8″ x 8″ cardstock and the Envelope Punch Board (EPB).

For the Base:

Take the 1st piece of card, place it in the EPB at 2 5/8″ punch and score.

Rotate 90 degrees, place at 2 5/8″ punch and score.

Rotate 90 degrees, place at 2 5/8″ punch and score.

Rotate 90 degrees so you are back at the start. Now line up the scoreline with the score guide on the EPB and punch and score. Rotate 90 degrees and repeat on all 4 sides.

Gift Box

For the Lid:

Take the 2nd piece of card, place it in the EPB at 2 3/4″ punch and score.

Rotate 90 degrees so you are back at the start. Now line up the scoreline with the score guide on the EPB and punch and score. Rotate 90 degrees and repeat on all 4 sides.

Fold all the scorelines. Holding each longways, cut up on each end to the first scoreline. This will fold in to the form the corners of the box.

Glue the box Base together and then line it with a piece of 4 2/8″ x 3 1/8″ piece of Designer Series Paper.

Glue the box Lid together, but before lining it, add a piece of 3 1/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Designer Series Paper to the top.

Gift Box

Adding the ribbon: starting on the inside centre of the lid, add some glue or fast fuse, and also up the inside of the lid. Then place the ribbon on top of this and up and over the top of the lid to the other side and adhere the same way. Do the same on the other end. Cut and extra small piece to tie in the centre in the knot and trim the ends.

To finish it off,  line the lid with a piece of 4 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ piece of Designer Series Paper.

And you have a magnificent gift box of chocolates for that special someone in your life!

Hello Crafters,

At Dynamic Duos the challenge is Black Tie, Razzleberry, Black and the OPTION of Gold! {DD#99}

I saw this Designer Card Handbag online the other day (thanks Jenny Van Dijk) and have been wanting to make one, so today was the perfect opportunity. It was originally case’d from www.ustamp4fun.com.

I love this colour combination and couldn’t wait to get started!

The Designer Series Paper is Polka Dot Parade (#126902) and I used the Rich Razzleberry paper, with the coordinating card stock.

I also used the following punches: Scallop Edge Border Punch (#119882), Blossom (#125603), Pansy (#130698)

The stamp set is Flower Shop (#130942), inked with Versamark and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.

I used the Large Pearls to finish off the handles!

This bag is the perfect size to fit in our standard handmade cards and C6 envelopes. How gorgeous would this be for a gift idea to give a hostess for holding a party or to a special family member filled with wonderful card creations!!!

Shaving Cream Technique

Hello Crafters,

Well I am guessing you are all full to the brim with chocolate after the Easter bunny visiting you yesterday!

I wanted to share with you one more of my Easter Treat Boxes which you have all seen by now, but I have added a new technique, the Shaving Cream technique!

Yes, you heard it right, it is a messy technique, but very effective and we had so much fun playing with it.

Every piece of card is different every time you place it onto the shaving cream!

Here’s what to do:

First you start with spraying some shaving cream onto a large dinner plate, smooth it out slightly, then add a few drops of reinker. I used Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana.

Shaving Cream Technique

Then you use a skewer and slowly swirl the colours around in a circular motion until you are happy with the look.

Shaving Cream Technique

Then place your white card stock on top, press down so it is evenly coated, then lift up. Wipe off the shaving cream with some paper towel. I do this in a circular motion, in case some of the ink catches the card (you don’t want straight lines of ink through your work).

Here is a piece of A4 card stock that I cut into 4 before placing into the cream. Isn’t it a cool technique?!!!!

Shaving Cream Technique

And here it is cut up and placed onto my Easter Treat Box!!!

Easter Treat Box

The box is Strawberry Slush card stock. The clear window is punched with the 1-3/4″ circle punch with a sheet of acetate behind. A perforating tool was used to create the perforation after the patterned card was glued down. The trim around the acetate window was created with the 2-3/8″ circle punch.

I stamped the bunny, from the Baby We’ve Grown Stamp Set (Wood #133086, Clear #133089) in Strawberry Slush Ink on the off-cut circle from the window! The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Sentiments is stamped next to the bunny and a hole punched and tied onto the ribbon with some Baker’s Twine.

This time I added some Strawberry Slush ribbon to the top of the box to use as a handle!

This treat box can hold more than 150g of chocolate easter eggs (I have put in 25 eggs)!!!

Easter box for JAI#210

Hello Crafters,

At Just Add Ink the challenge for this week is “EASTER BAGS,BOXES or BASKETS”….

It’s perfect timing for getting some Easter packaging done for next week!

Because I have already shared with you my Easter Treat Box that I created a few weeks ago (my tutorial is also on that link),

I needed to come up with something new!!

IMG_4437

I decided to downscale, as we really don’t need too much chocolate (well that’s what I try and tell myself lol) and so I came up with this cute little gift idea.

Each side has an opening created with the oval punch and scalloped oval punch to make the borders.

The coordinating Designer Series Paper is Watercolour Wonder (#132994) from the Occasions catalogue, available until 30 June.

Easter Box

I stamped the bunny, from the Baby We’ve Grown Stamp Set (Wood #133086, Clear #133089) in Island Indigo on Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the Large Oval punch. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamped the same colour. I punched a small hole and added some of the Baker’s Twine through the hole and tied it in a knot on the inside.

Here it is without the chocolate bunnies inside!

Tea Light Candle Gift Box

Hello Crafters,

Now that the long weekend is far behind us, I need to share with you some little tea light candle gift boxes that I have made in time for Mother’s Day!

I will be doing a workshop on these on Saturday 22 March, 10am. Email me if you would like to come along, or rsvp via my Facebook event!

I got a bit carried away creating these. I started with one and then did a couple of different colours according to the tea lights I had.

I started by stamping the images with the same ink as the card stock (tone on tone). I used So Very Grateful Stamp Set (Wood or Clear) which is in the Occasions Catalogue. Isn’t it just so pretty?!

Tea Light Candle Gift Box

I used my Big Shot machine to die cut the Chalk Talk framelits on the pink one and then found it easier to use the Decorative Label punch on the other two. Using a punch saves so much time and you can whip these up in no time.

The card stock colours used here are Tangerine Tango, Strawberry Slush & Wisteria Wonder. Come along to my workshop and you will see just how easy these are to make for yourself. You will have loads of gifts to give away once you try this!!!

Here is a close up!

JAI#204 ~ Easter Treat Box

Hello Crafters,

The minute I saw this Colour Challenge at Just Add Ink I knew straight away what I wanted to do, but it’s not a card!

As this year is passing by so quickly already, I have had to think about Easter super early. I have been watching many YouTube videos on different styles of Easter Treat Boxes, but they were either too small or not quite what I wanted, so got creating and came up with my very own style Easter Treat Box with perforated tear opening!  This uses 1 sheet of A4 cardstock for the base!!!

Easter Treat Box  Easter Treat Box

The box is Crumb Cake cardstock with Pistachio Pudding DSP from the In Colours Paper Stack. The clear window is punched with the Extra Large Oval punch with a sheet of acetate behind. A perforating tool was used to create the perforation after the DSP was glued down.

I stamped the bunny, from the Baby We’ve Grown Stamp Set (Wood #133086, Clear #133089) in Crumb Cake Ink on Pistachio Pudding cardstock and fussy cut. The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Sentiments is stamped in gold encore on Whisper White, punched with Word Window and mounted onto Crumb Cake punched from the Modern Label punch. I added some of the Gold Baker’s Twine around the bunny’s neck.

Here it is close up where you can see the acetate window!

Easter Treat Box

This treat box can hold more than 150g of chocolate easter eggs (I have put in 25 eggs)!!!

A few people have asked for instructions on this or for me to make a video…. that would be a challenge in itself, but here goes, Easter Treat Box Tutorial!

Why don’t you have a go at some of the weekly challenges too on the Just Add Ink page!

Yay, I got an Honorable Mention for this at Just Add Ink.

JAI#202 ~ Just Add Stripes

Hello Crafters,

If you saw my blog post yesterday, it was of some gift card holders and so I thought I would create another one today for the Just Add Ink ~ Just Add Stripes Challenge!

I used the Envelope Punch Board to create the tabs for closing this gift card holder. I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to create the background stripes, stamping one way and then the other, giving it more of a tartan look. I stamped the Five Way Flower stamp in Tangerine Tango and Wild Wasabi ink on white card and punched out with the scallop circle punches. Then used dimensionals to give them a lift between the layers and a brad on the top.

The ribbon is Whisper White Taffeta and I coloured it with the Wild Wasabi ink pad before adhering to the card and making a bow to stick on the front.

JAI#202

Here it is open!

JAI#202

Did you see the embossed stripes of the insert holding the gift card?!!!
