Lost Lagoon: Sunflowers Black Out Embossing Technique

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 30 – Lost Lagoon

This handmade card features the Sunflowers 3D Embossing Folder, Stampin’ Blends Combo Markers and some die sets; Branching Out and Party Alphabet.

After embossing a piece of Basic White cardstock, turn it over and colour the debossed side with your Darling Duckling, Lost Lagoon and Pecan Pie markers. Take the Secret Sea inkpad and gently drag it across the entire surface to create the black out, then sit it aside to dry. Doesn’t it make those flowers pop?!!!

This piece is mounted onto some Brushed Metallic cardstock then onto a Lost Lagoon card base. A label is diecut from Lost Lagoon card using the Branching Out dies and the ‘H’ ‘B’ is diecut from the Floral Delight Designer Series Paper using the Party Alphabet dies. The sentiment is from the new Banner Sayings Bundle, comprising a stamp set and the Three Banner Punch.

On the inside, I added more of the Branching Out cut dies to frame the message panel and added the greenery which is part of the dies pack. These are covered in Wink of Stella so the are glittery!

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next Wednesday for Melon Mambo inspiration.

Granny Apple Green: Sending Sunshine with Sunflowers

Welcome to the Colour Creations Instahop. You can follow us on Instagram starting  @craftwithkate. Each week we will showcase the Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 25 – Granny Apple Green

This handmade card features the Sunflowers 3D Embossing Folder. Being my first time playing with it, I began by simply colouring it with Blends Combo Markers in this bright colour combination!

A LITTLE ‘WHY’ ABOUT THIS CARD
I recently had a friend move away from the city for her country lifestyle and I wanted to send her some sunshine for her new start in country living!

How you can re-create this card

1. Create the base – a Granny Apple Green card base, 21cm x 14.9cm, scored @ 10.5cm.

2. Colour – the embossed card is coloured using Stampin’ Blends Combo Markers: Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lolly, Granny Apple Green, Pecan Pie & Pool Party. Once dry, I went over the sunflowers with the Wink of Stella (it doesn’t photograph well) but I can assure you it is so sparkly in real life!

3. Layering – Wrap a piece of Gold Striped Ribbon around the embossed layer and tie is a bow. Add this layer to the card base.

4. Add the sentiment – one of the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack sentiments is added on Dimensionals.

5. Finishing touches – some Adhesive-backed Dragonflies are added.

Many of us also participate in the Heart of Christmas blog hop that goes live every Monday night, where we showcase Christmas inspiration in the lead up to Christmas. We would love you to follow us!

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you join me next Wednesday for Gray Granite inspiration.

Don’t forget about the joining offer during October. It is a huge $175 saving. Click here for all the details.

Personalised Birthday Eclipse card with Painted Harvest

Hello Friends,

My Eclipse card today uses the Painted Harvest stamp set and Large Letters Framelits dies, with the following colour combination.

TAMS Color Builder - Soft Suede, Old Olive, Lemon Lime Twist, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie.jpgI made this card for one of my favourite teachers from my school days, whom I also ended up working with until her Retirement, Patsy.  She is such an amazing person who has so much to deal with but gets on with life, without any fuss. She was such an inspiration to me back in the 80s when she taught me Home Economics; cooking and sewing in Tasmania!

I still keep in touch with Patsy and every year I send her a card for her Birthday and Christmas. So here is her card for this year. I wish you all the best health and love today and always, Patsy. Happy Birthday!

The Eclipse card is a very popular technique at the moment and it works beautifully with this stamp set. The ribbon is retired but it was the perfect 1/4″ cotton ribbon in Pumpkin Pie to coordinate perfectly!
