Hot Air Balloon

Dear Crafters,

My last post was all about travel and today is no exception!

I have never been in a hot air balloon, but I can only imagine how it must be to fly up in the sky above everything and be so free. Who knows, one day I may get that chance!

Celebrate Today is such a versatile set and can be purchased as a Bundle (stamps & coordinating dies) saving you 15% off.

Celebrate Today

The background is embossed using the Decorative Dots TIEF. I used the Celebrate Today stamps for the sentiment.

The balloons are die cut using the Big Shot and I made 5 images all exactly the same. Fold each balloon in half and then glue to each other. Very simple but so effective!

Stamp the bottom part of the balloon using Stampin’ Write Markers.

I tied a piece of twine at the bottom of the balloon before using Tombo Glue to adhere to the card.

Celebrate Today

Don’t forget to stamp the inside of the card too!

Appy farewell & thank you

Dear Crafters,

Today I want to share with you some cards I have made for two of our most helpful men in the computer department where I work. They will be leaving us this week and I am very sad to be saying farewell to both of them.

I couldn’t think of what type of farewell card was appropriate for them, but then thought about an iPhone, as it is the latest fad that everyone seems to have!

So this is what I came up with.

Farewell card iphone

Is my caption corny enough??!!!! “Appy farewell”, lol

I just copied the measurements of my own iPhone to get the size as close as possible.

I hope they like it!

Little Buddy

Hello  Crafters,
The challenge this week at Just Add Ink is Just Add a SketchJAI#238.
I hadn’t inked up the stamp set, Little Buddy Birthday, so I stamped the birthday cake image in Calypso Coral ink over the same colour card base to create the background. Then I cut a banner from the Confetti Celebrations DSP with the Banners Framelits.
Little Buddy Birthday
I used the Circles Framelits to die cut the large circle and embossed it with the Large Polka Dot TIEF.
Little Buddy Birthday

I stamped the image directly onto the Confetti Celebrations DSP and cut it out with paper snips. I thought that was the perfect patterned paper for this cute little critter!!!

Next, I stamped the birthday cake image, coloured it with Stampin’ Write Markers and punched it out with the 1″ circle punch. I then added an epoxy resin circle over the top.

Little Buddy Birthday
The sentiment is from the same stamp set and punched out with the Modern Label punch before sponging the edges with the coordinating ink and a sponge dauber.

Work of Art

Hello Crafters,

Today I share with you some cards created using the Work of Art Stamp Set. You may be like me and think “what on earth would I use that for?”. Well, let me show you what you can create! Now all of these cards I did in one afternoon and yes, I did have some inspiration from Jenny van Dijk a fellow SU demo.

First of all, I wanted to share a couple of cards that can be used for those who may be struggling with the terrible illnesses of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or Breast Cancer.

Olaf from Frozen

Hello Crafters,

I had an order to make some cards for twin girls who are turning 6 and I knew straight away what I was going to make!

What 6 year old doesn’t love the movie FROZEN?!!!!

So here is Olaf, my favourite character from the movie. He just makes me laugh looking at him!!!!

IMG_5322      Olaf Frozen

I haven’t used any ink pads or stamps to create this funny little guy, but a heap of punches!

The sticks for his arms are cut by hand with paper snips and I added googly eyes and used a Stampin’ Write Marker to draw his eyebrows and hair.

Emily and Grace are obviously the names of the twins and I made their cards in their favourite colours!

Stars in their multitudes

Hello Crafters,

Melbourne has turned on a gorgeous sunny day today, so I will quickly share a card I have made for the Just Add Ink Colour Challenge before heading outside to enjoy the sunshine with my girls!

The challenge this week is a Colour Challenge JAI#235.

I love this colour combination and needed to make a card for my daughter’s friends birthday next weekend, and these colours screamed cupcake to me!

Birthday Cupcake Card

I started with a card base of Pink Pirouette. I then got out the Stars decorative mask and using my sponge daubers and the above colours, I began sponging from lightest to darkest randomly around some Whisper White card stock. This almost gives the effect of Bokeh!

Birthday Cupcake Card

I used the Cupcake Builder punch with the 2014-2016 In Colours Backgrounds DSP, then Strawberry Slush card for the cherry and sprinkles.

I added some chevron ribbon before adding the embellishment with dimensionals.

Birthday Cupcake Card

I added the sentiment from the Sassy Salutations Stamp Set in Blackberry Bliss.

Birthday Cupcake Card

I think this is a very sweet little card and I am loving the stars background. I know I will definitely be creating more of these!

This background is very cheap and easy to create, why don’t you give it a go too.

Please leave a comment below, what you think of my card.

PS I was the winner at JAI for this card!!!

Work of Art

Hello Crafters,

I needed a break from all the excitement of the Holiday Catalogue, so I share with you today, a card I made for a young boys birthday recently.

I used the Work of Art Stamp set from the Annual Catalogue (pg 165)

Work of Art

I used the Chevron TIEF to emboss the blue card stock base, then layered black card on top. I stamped the Work of Art stamps for the boat and sail and cut them out. The water is also from the same stamp set.

This was a very simple card to make but with great interpretation use of the Work of Art stamp set!

Next week I will share more creations from the Holiday Catalogue!

JAI #228 Colour Combo Challenge

Hello Crafters,

Today I am feeling rather miserable with a cold along with my two girls who are both home from school, but I needed to dose up on tablets and do some creating, even if it was only 1 card!

I begin with a challenge at Just Add Ink. The challenge this week is a Colour Combination Challenge JAI#228.

I started with this idea, but it soon became obvious that maybe they didn’t quite look like feathers when Miss 5 says to me “I love the bunny ears mummy”!

Anyway, I carried on but wasn’t completely happy with this card, as all I could see was bunny ears, but I do love the simply pressed clay flower coloured with blackberry bliss ink and covered with crystal effects.

Stampin' Up! Four Feathers     Stampin' Up! Four Feathers

I sponged the insert of the card using the front panel before adhering it to the card!

Stampin' Up! Four Feathers

Anyway, I had to go ahead with the idea to create an Easter card, as the bunny ears just couldn’t leave my mind! So here is what I came up with using the same colour combo.

Stampin' Up! Four Feathers     Stampin' Up! Four Feathers

The grass and the whiskers were created using the fringing scissors!

Why don’t you give a challenge a go, they are so much fun. Head across to the Just Add Ink page for more inspiration and see how the designers interpreted this challenge.

Hawks

Hello Crafters,

What a busy time of year it is for our family!

On the weekend, we celebrated by brother-in-law’s 40th birthday and he is a mad loyal Hawthorn Football Club supporter, so what better way to celebrate than with a card in a box style card in the Hawthorn theme!

Hawthorn FC Card in a Box

I used Chocolate Chip and Crushed Curry card stock to create the base of the card. I got the images off the HFC website and printed the words to the theme song and placed them at the inside back of the card.

Hawthorn FC Card in a Box  Hawthorn FC Card in a Box

I had to add the 4 0 in some champagne glitter card!

Hawthorn FC Card in a Box

and the sentiment from the Petite Pairs Stamp Set.

Do you think he will like this? I am sure hoping so!

Kids Cards

Frozen Olaf

Hello Crafters,

I have so many kids birthday invites on our fridge at the moment that I need to get cracking on some of the cards to place on their pressies!

Miss 4 has been invited to a Frozen party and what better than creating a little punch art. I know when I watched the movie FROZEN, I fell in love with Olaf, the little snowman, so here he is!

Frozen Olaf Punch Art Card

I used Whisper White, Smoky Slate, Soft Suede, Tangelo Twist and Basic Black card stock to create Olaf. I used the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker for his eyebrows and hair. The lines on the buttons I used the chalk marker.

The Designer Series Paper has retired (it was from last year’s holiday catalogue), but there are plenty of gorgeous DSPs in this years Holiday Catalogue which will be available from 28th August, so not long now to wait!

Frozen Olaf Punch Art Card

The punches I used were:

  • 2 1/2″ Circle
  • 1 3/8″ circle
  • 1/2″ circle
  • 3/4″ x 15/16″ oval
  • 1 3/4″ x 7/8″ oval
  • 2″ x 1 3/8″ oval
  • I cut the head, arms & teeth out by hand!

So with a few punches that you probably already have in your stash, you too can recreate this gorgeous card. Go on give it a go, the little munchkin who receives it will be blown away!!!

This design was based on one I saw on Pinterest by Michelle Suit in the USA.
