Beautiful Butterfly

Dear Crafters,

Today I share with you a quick and easy card to make for those days when you need a card in a hurry!

I have used the stunning Butterfly die in Soft Sky card, then glued it to some vellum and cut around it.

Butterfly Painted Blooms

The base card is Rose Red with a layer of Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper.

Butterfly Painted Blooms

The sentiment is stamped in Rose Red ink on the Whisper White card stock and I cut the ends with paper snips. This is added to the card with dimenionals.

How gorgeous is this butterfly with the vellum behind it?! It just looks so delicate.

Butterfly Painted Blooms

Be sure to decorate the inside panel of your card and even the envelope!

Easter Basket

Dear Crafters,

Welcome to Friday and today being Good Friday, also means Happy Easter!

So to celebrate, I have some cute little Easter baskets to show you.

I did share these with you in an Easter Blog Hop a couple of weeks ago, but I didn’t share any instructions at the time on how to make them.

So here are some cute little baskets that my girls gave to their teachers on the last day of Term for Easter. I used the Designer Series Papers, because they are double sided and they are so pretty.

Easter Basket  Easter Basket

These are only small. Add small strips of cellophane inside then add 3 little solid eggs. The girls loved giving these to their teachers.

What you need:

4 strips DSP: 5-1/2″ x 3/4″ (basket)

1 strip DSP: 5-1/2″ x 1/2″ (handle)

1 strip DSP 7-1/4″ x 1/2″ (top)

1 x 1-3/4″ circle punched (base)

Step 1 – Add Sticky Strip or Fast Fuse to the “Top” (longest length) as shown below.

IMG_0972

Step 2 – Start adding the strips for the basket, starting at one end and lining them up against each other.

IMG_0973

Step 3 – take the first strip and fold it around next to the fourth strip (see below)

IMG_0974

Step 4 – Repeat with the remaining strips and join the top together.

Step 5 – Now you have your basket shape

IMG_0976

Step 6 – Push down gently from the top to squash it a little and add the circle punch to the bottom.

Step 7 – Add the handle with some brads and fill with your favourite mini eggs!

I hope you enjoy making some of these Easter Baskets yourself.

Bokeh Balloons

Dear Crafters,

Tomorrow is the last day to get your Sale-a-bration orders in and take advantage of earning free product with every $90s.

So I share today another of my favourite bundles in the Occasions Catalogue, Celebrate Today!

The bundle is Celebrate Today stamp set and the coordinating Balloon Framelits Dies.

Celebrate Today

The base card is Tempting Turquoise card with a layer of Basic Black card.

The background has been created using the Bokeh Technique (pronounced like “bouquet” of flowers). I started with a piece of Whisper White card and sponged on some inks; Tempting Turquoise, Marina Mist & Wisteria Wonder. Then using a template I created (circle punch holes in a piece of Window Sheet), I used the Craft White Inkpad to add the different size circles randomly.

The balloon is die cut from black card and the banner from Tempting Turquoise card.

Be sure to stamp the inside panel of your card with another banner and even the top of the envelope!

Celebrate Today

I would love you to comment below with your thoughts on this card.

Petal Potpourri

Dear Crafters,

Earlier this week I shared some cards made with the 2013-2015 In Colours which will retire in a couple of months when the new Annual Catalogue is released and I will be very sad to see them go. I just love these colours!

I have used a Bundle from the Occasions Catalogue and with each bundle you can save an extra 15%. The bundle is Petal Potpourri stamp set and the coordinating Flower Medallion punch.

Petal Potpourri

The base card is Crisp Cantaloupe with a layer of 2013-2015 In Colours Designer Series Paper.

The flowers are stamped in Strawberry Slush ink on the Crisp Cantaloupe card stock and punched out using the coordinating Flower Medallion Punch. I used dimensionals to add the flowers to the card, slightly overlapping them.

Petal Potpourri

Be sure to decorate the inside panel of your card and even the envelope!

Petal Potpourri

I also made another one in the same colours but different patterns!!!

Irresistible Crocodile

Dear Crafters,

With less than a week to go, make sure you place your order before Sale-a-bration ends to receive your free product!

The Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Paper has been so popular and today I use it again.

I have sponged it with Lost Lagoon ink and wiped off the excess from the embossed areas.

Irresistibly Yours

See how I have cut the card on an angle? Well this is something that goes against my OCD!!!

I had to try it, as I have seen so many cards that look awesome. I have to say, I am not totally happy with this card, but I have had so many wonderful comments from people that they love it!

and check out the cute little crocodile, with his tail over the edge of the circle. To create that effect, I roughly cut around his tail to about half way and then placed it in the circle punch (lifting the tail out) so it wouldn’t be cut off.

Irresistibly Yours  Irresistibly Yours

I also stamped the inside of the card!

Challenges, feminine, JAI, Techniques & Tutorials

Crazy Ovals

Hello Crafters,

Today I enter a challenge at Just Add Ink. The challenge this week is Just Add Eggs or OvalsJAI#255.

My immediate reaction to this would be Easter Eggs with only 2 weeks until the Easter Bunny arrives, but I was sure many others will head in this direction, so I have done something completely different!

I have never made a Spinning Card, so this was the perfect chance to try it.

Crazy About You

I love this Crazy About You bundle with the coordinating framelits. I wanted something fun so I chose a base card of Coastal Cabana with some Melon Mambo and Whisper White.

First, I cut the 2 ovals together before stamping the flower in coordinating ink. I also did it again on some scrap card and I used the 1-3/4″ scallop circle punch to cut it out.

I punched two circles of cardstock with the 1/2″ circle punch and joined them together with 2 dimensionals, one on top of the other. Glue this to the centre back of the flower. Slide it into the gap between the ovals of the card so it will slide around the oval.

This is the spinning part. Move the large flower around the oval!

Crazy About You

I added the sentiment Bravo and some coordinating candy dots and a rhinestone to the centre of the flower. I used double dimensionals (one on top of the other) to sit the layers up so that the flower will spin easily around the oval.

Be sure to decorate the inside panel of your card and even the envelope. I never send a “nude” envelope!

Crazy About You

This was such a fun card to make and not as difficult as I thought it was going to be!

Please leave a comment below, if you think my card met this challenge.

Why don’t you give a challenge a go, they are so much fun. Head across to the Just Add Ink page for more inspiration and see how the designers interpreted this challenge.
