Week 13 – Cherry Cobbler
Tonight I have lots of Sale•a•bration items to share in this cute Hippos in Love card. I began with a Cherry Cobbler card base and I added the dots by creating a template with the Dots & Spots die. I lay this over the card front and used my Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends Marker. The only problem was that it bled through to the inside of the card, oops. You’ll see how I fixed that later. The white layer is cut with the Deckled Rectangle Dies, then I put my Wink of Stella into my Cherry Cobbler inkpad and using the lid, flicked it onto the card. It gives a beautiful shimmer effect. Using the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper, I die cut the poles and string (Tree Lot dies, SAB item #159938) and glued them to the card.
The banner is created using the Alphabest Bundle (Alphabest stamp set and coordinating Best Label Punch) and added each one on a Dimensional.
The Hippest Hippos stamp set (SAB item #159921) are stamped in Black Memento ink and coloured using the following Blends Combo Markers; Cherry Cobbler, Gray Granite and the Colour Lifter. These are die cut using the coordinating Hippo dies (Saleabration item #159928) and added with Dimensionals. The solid hearts are also in this die set and cut from Cherry Cobbler card.
Remember I said how the spots bled through from the front of the card, well I fixed it by creating a pop up and added the 3rd Hippo from the set holding another heart! I almost feel like he should be winking!!!!

Such a cute Hippos card Kate. The hippos under the LOVE banner are adorable. Also love your background. Great idea to use Blends with a die cut mask. Looks amazing. I adore the pop up hippo inside the card – yes he should be winking. Xxx

Your hippos are gorgeous Kate and I love the LOVE banner. What? You put Wink of Stella into your Cherry Cobbler lid, don’t you end up with a sparkly ink pad? Great effect though

Kaste, this card is adorable I love you tips for adding the dots by creating a template with the Dots & Spots die, dipping the wink of stella pen into the ink pad and the way you solved the problem of the colour bleeding through. That pop up hippo inside is the best!

I really like the background you created, the “Love” banner, and the sweet Cherry Cobbler hearts, Kate. I can’t quite picture how you flicked the Wink of Stella from your inkpad, but the effect is pretty! This is a delightful card. x
