Masquerade

Hello Crafters,

Today I enter a challenge at Just Add Ink. The challenge this week is Just Add SequinsJAI#259.

Last night I was thinking about a request I received to make some birthday invitations with a Masquerade theme. Knowing that Stampin’ Up! didn’t have anything along those lines, I got an idea in my head that I was going to have my first attempt at carving my own stamp, a mask!

Well, I started at about 8.30pm once the kids were in bed and by the time I was happy with the outcome, it was almost 1am! Now that is very unusual for me, as I am normally in bed by about 10 on a Saturday night. lol

Anyway, I started with a card base of Crisp Cantaloupe, then a layer of Basic Black.

Masquerade

I stamped the image that I carved from the Undefined Stamp Carving Kit in Versamark Ink and added the Heat & Stick Powder and heat set it with the heat gun. (This was also the first time using the Heat & Stick product!). Then I added some Gold Stampin’ Glitter and heat again to set it and I was so happy with the effect.

Masquerade

I added some sequins with glue dots and stamped the Happy Graduation from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set at the bottom in black (I plan on giving this card to my daughter’s teacher who had her Graduation Ceremony last Thursday).

Masquerade

Be sure to decorate the inside panel of your card and even the envelope, it helps tie it all together!

Masquerade

This envelope I made myself using the Simply Scored and the Diagonal Plate.

I started with an A4 piece of printer paper and put it on the Diagonal Plate, short edge to the top, and scored at 1-5/8”.

Rotate the paper 180o and score at 4”.

Rotate 90o counter-clockwise, and score at 5-1/2”.

Rotate 180o and score at 4-1/8”.

Fold the top left section first, then the bottom right section. Next fold up the bottom left, then the top right. You will notice a small triangle is still showing, but you fold that over the top of the envelope and seal it with the stamp!!!!

Masquerade

I have to say I was very pleased with the outcome of my 1st attempt at carving my own stamp! Look out world, there could be many more to follow, lol.
