Colour Creations Showcase: Magenta Madness for Sympathy and Christmas!

AWHT Colour Creations Showcase

Each week some of the Art With Heart team are joining the Colour Creations Showcase to bring you creative inspiration to showcase our range of 50+ gorgeous Stampin’ Up! colours.

Week 23 – Magenta Madness

The Flowers for Every Season patterned paper is so pretty, that you don’t even need to add much extra to a card to make it special. However, in this case, I’ve added a vase of flowers for a sympathy card for a work colleague who recently lost her dear mum. Even though she was in her 90s, the pain is still so raw.

This card is gorgeous and bright, and just what was needed for this occasion. I know lots of sympathy cards are not quite so cheery, but I love to keep them bright as though the departed spirit lives on.

The vase is stamped in Memento ink and coloured with So Saffron Stampin’ Blends (alcohol markers), then fussy cut. A beautiful ribbon bow is added.

The Forever Flourishing dies were used to cut some Just Jade foliage and the Magenta flowers are cut using the Small Blooms punch and an enamel dot in the centres.

The sentiment is stamped onto Magenta Madness card in the same colour ink and cut out with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. I used the thicker end of my Blends Marker to run it around the edges, rather than a sponge dauber. It’s easier to get into those little fancy ends!

I have also made a Christmas card with this bright paper pack – I cut a piece of DSP 15cm x 13cm, then cut it into 1cm strips. I took another piece of card 5mm smaller than the card front and added Stampin’ Seal around the edges and across the length. Starting at one end, I adhered the strips, offsetting each one. Once they were all on the card, I turned it over and trimmed off the edges.

This reindeer is so cute coloured with Stampin’ Blends Markers and Wink of Stella added to the bow and nose for some sparkle. The Gold Hoop has some ribbon tied around it and up over the top of the layered card. The bow was tied separately and added with a glue dot. The reindeer and sentiment are popped up on dimensionals.

Would you use the Flowers for Every Season patterned paper for your Christmas cards?

Your reindeer card is very clever (and brave!!). What a great use of that DSP!

  2. Such a beautiful thought behind the design of your gorgeous sympathy card, Kate.
You have inspired me to think about using the Flowers for Every Season DSP for a Christmas card, because your little reindeer looks so happy playing on his “swing” in that beautiful meadow of flowers! xx

  4. Beautiful cards Kate. I love your bright sympathy card. Your vase with the Small Blooms punch flowers is gorgeous. I had to look twice to see that your 2nd card’s background was offset strips – it looks amazing as is the cute reindeer in the hoop. xxx
