Monthly Creative Showcase: Designer Series Paper
Tonight I have a couple of projects for you using patterned papers – this first one uses the gorgeous Whale of a Time 6″ x 6″ papers.
My Pacific Point card base is 21cm x 14.8cm, scored at 5.3cm & 10.5cm (landscape)
The DSP is 10.3cm x 14.5cm & 4.8cm x 14.5cm. The Whisper White piece is also 4.8cm x 14.5cm. The 2″ and 2¼” circle punches are used for the feature on the front.
This particular pattern reminds me of the scene in the movie Finding Nemo where the turtles ride the East Australian current. Oh, I love that movie 🥰
The 1cm Pool Party Sheer Ribbon is wrapped around the front panel and glued behind the circle. The stamping inside is Bumblebee for the fish and Pacific Point for the sentiment.
My next card is a square card (12.5cm x 12.5cm) and I have used the sunburst technique. This is a wonderful way to show both sides of the lovely designer papers, because sometimes both sides are adorable and I can’t choose which to use – so why not show both!
I cut another piece of card to measure 12cm x 12cm and using a pencil, draw lines from corner to corner and side to side as shown.
Take 2 pieces of 6″ x 6″ designer paper and cut them into 3″ x 3″ squares. Take one and mark the centre on two sides – here I have used a chalk marker so you can see it. Place it in your trimmer lining up one of the marks at the top and the point at the bottom also in the track and cut. Then rotate the next mark to the top and cut down to the same corner. You’ll be left with 2 triangles and a kite shaped piece. Repeat this on 3 other squares.
Add Stampin’ Seal around the edges and down each of the pencil lines of your card. Start in one corner and place the pieces of DSP with the kite shape in the centre and alternate your patterns.
Here are those same turtles as in the card above, featured in the centre of this card. This time I added some Just Jade ribbon between the two circles.

Kate your cards are perfect. I love the way you have used the DSP on both of them but, the sunburst is sensational. That turtle is my favourite thing from the entire suite. The look on his face kills me.

Oh how adorable! They are both wonderful cards, and you are so right about the piece you’ve used on the first being evocative of the Nemo scene.

I can see why the DSP pattern on your first card reminds you of the Finding Nemo movie, Kate. It’s exactly what I thought when I first saw it too. And I love that movie as well. I love the sunburst effect on your second card – It really showcases the beautiful DSP so well. I love both of your cards.

Got to love a fancy fold card my friend and it is gorgeous! I also love the starburst card! I have never made one so thank you for the instructions. Your cards look fantastic with this DSP! I keep thinking of the Turtle now in the EAC saying “Dude” Love it!

Delightful cards Kate. I love the Whale of a Time DSP – and you have used it beautifully. The card that creates an underwater scene is lovely and you are right it is reminiscent of Finding Nemo. Your sunburst card is amazing. I haven’t seen this style previously so I needed to read through your description slowly. i’m looking forward to giving it a go. Thank you for the inspiration. xxx

Great cards to use DSP Kate – now I can’t get Dory’s voice out of my head, “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.” I love Finding Nemo too and your cards have bought the joy of that movie back to me – thank you xx
